章節 319: Chapter 319: The Impact of the Interrogation, the Third Hokage's Decision!

Iga Tsuna's hands began to tremble as he processed the information. This interrogation had unveiled more than just Danzo's individual misdeeds; it exposed the shadows lurking in Konoha's leadership.

Reiki, however, seemed deep in thought.

"I feel like there's something missing," Reiki muttered after a moment.

"Missing...?"

"Reiki, Medical Ninja, that's everything I know..." Tamu stammered, worried.

"No, it's not about the information you provided."

"It's the manner of the interrogation. It might be hard for people to believe without further proof."

"Iga Tsuna-sama, what do you think?"

Reiki turned to Iga Tsuna, who thought, *Why are you asking me? I'm just here to take notes...*

"Yes, that's possible," Iga Tsuna replied, nodding.

"An interrogation shouldn't be this straightforward," Reiki said. "Usually, it involves some form of resistance, where the subject refuses to speak until they break under pressure. Isn't that the usual process, Iga Tsuna-sama?"

*Well, yes, that's how it typically goes...* Iga Tsuna thought, his confusion growing as he nodded.

"Great. In that case, let's make this believable—I'll rough him up a bit."

Before Tamu could react, Reiki started the "believable" part of the interrogation. Tamu was stunned, and soon became little more than a training dummy.

Within minutes, Tamu lay on the ground, immobile and unconscious. Iga Tsuna's mouth twitched. *Wasn't this supposed to be just for show?* But then again, the animosity between Reiki and the Root Organization was well known.

"Reiki, what exactly are you doing?"

Just as Iga Tsuna moved to lead Reiki to the next detainee, he saw Reiki crouch down and begin treating Tamu again.

"Wait, what is this now?" Iga Tsuna asked, baffled.

"Oh, I forgot—I'm a medical ninja. If someone is injured, they need treatment, right? So I'm patching him up. And Tamu, you'll need to report to the hospital for follow-up treatment after this."

Reiki smiled as he continued the treatment, and Tamu, unconscious, had no choice but to go along with whatever Reiki decided.

After finishing up, Reiki and Iga Tsuna left the room. For Tamu, the entire interrogation felt like an odd dream. The outcome didn't matter to him anymore; what came next was out of his hands.

...

In the Interrogation Department's reception room, Iga Tsuna handed over the written confession.

"This is the statement from Konoha Special Jonin Tamu, Root operative codename 'Xiao'."

"All right. I'll take it to Hokage-sama," Jiraiya said, grabbing the record. "By the way, Minister Iga Tsuna, the wine was good, but not enough."

With that, Jiraiya vanished from the room. Iga Tsuna let out a small sigh of relief; at least Tsunade wasn't handling the records directly. As long as she didn't get agitated, there wouldn't be any issues.

Once that was sorted, Iga Tsuna returned to oversee the next Root interrogation.

...

In the Hokage's office, Jiraiya appeared, dropping the record on Sarutobi Hiruzen's desk.

"Hokage-sama, here is the first interrogation record of the day. Neither Tsunade nor I have read it; I brought it straight here."

"I'm heading back. Tsunade's drinking alone in the interrogation room, and that might turn into... a situation. I should probably keep an eye on it."

With that, Jiraiya disappeared again.

"Reiki didn't come himself?"

Sarutobi Hiruzen muttered, puzzled. He had expected Reiki to deliver the extracted memory data directly, but now he held only a written record.

Curious, Sarutobi Hiruzen opened the file and began reading. The method was indeed unique—something only Reiki would come up with. Inducing with medicine, building trust by removing the curse seal, offering hope, and finally threatening for complete disclosure.

Iga Tsuna's brief notes explained the unconventional process, skipping over certain details, like the physical beating.

Sarutobi Hiruzen didn't doubt the authenticity of the confession; it aligned with what he already knew. This knowledge put him in a difficult spot. Reiki would almost certainly inform Tsunade, and Tsunade would not stand down. If things escalated, the village could be thrown into turmoil.

"Damn it, Danzo, you've really put me in a bind this time."

Hiruzen muttered, placing the record down. Punishing Danzo too harshly would provoke retaliation. And with the Daimyo still in the village, any upheaval would have significant repercussions.

How could he appease Tsunade? Bribes? Promises? Threats?

For most people, those might work, but Tsunade...

"I have an idea."

Hiruzen called out, and a figure materialized in the room—it was Uchiha Shisui, codenamed "Ten," an ANBU operative.

"Shisui, I need you to carry out a task."

Hiruzen handed him a written mission directive. Shisui's eyes widened as he read, disbelief crossing his face, followed by a rapid heartbeat as he weighed the implications.

"Understood, Hokage-sama. For the sake of the village, I accept."

With those words, Shisui vanished, leaving Sarutobi Hiruzen with a slight sense of relief.

This was the only silver lining: if he couldn't sway Tsunade, he could work through those close to her.

Uchiha Shisui, Reiki... and with Namikaze Nozuki connected to Minato, Sarutobi Hiruzen felt assured she wouldn't do anything reckless.
