"What a powerful eye power, Itachi. You are truly exceptional."
Orochimaru's hands trembled as they reached forward in a futile attempt to resist.
The more one resisted, the greater the thrill it provided.
Itachi, unamused, brandished his kunai swiftly. Orochimaru's left hand fell to the ground, severed cleanly.
Blood spattered.
"Orochimaru," Itachi's tone was icy, "I assume this level of pain is still manageable for you. No matter what you try, your efforts will be meaningless before my eyes. I am not someone you can possess, so you'd better abandon that thought."
Orochimaru clutched his stump, his face pale from the pain. "Hmph, you underestimate me. I will never give up."
Itachi stared coldly, kunai pointed at Orochimaru's face. His thoughts wavered as he muttered, "What should I do with you? Should I kill you now… or use you for another purpose?"
The kunai edged closer, nearly touching Orochimaru's forehead.
"Wait!" Orochimaru shouted, panic evident in his voice.
It wasn't the fear of death that haunted him—it was the frustration of being unable to obtain what he desired most.
"If you want me, you… aren't qualified."
As Itachi prepared to finish Orochimaru, several shurikens whizzed through the air, forcing him to retreat.
In the shadows, Kabuto Yakushi emerged. He leaped in front of Orochimaru, shielding him protectively. "Lord Orochimaru, are you all right?"
Orochimaru, still trembling, ignored Kabuto and fixed his gaze on Itachi. His voice dripped with unfulfilled longing and anger. "Itachi, the unfinished bond between us will not end here."
Kabuto, intent on protecting his master, set off several explosive tags to cover their retreat. Together, they disappeared into the distance.
Itachi did not pursue them.

After escaping to a remote location, Kabuto prepared to reattach Orochimaru's severed hand. "Lord Orochimaru, I'll heal you immediately."
"There's no need," Orochimaru said, his voice laced with pain and fury. "I'll just replace this body when we return. Damn it, that brat Itachi…"
Kabuto, holding the severed hand, asked, "Should I dispose of this, Lord Orochimaru?"
Orochimaru's gaze fell on the "Sky" ring still adorning the finger of the severed hand. After a moment of thought, he hissed, "Keep it. Turn it into a specimen and place it in my room. It will serve as proof of my time in the Akatsuki organization."
"Proof? Lord Orochimaru, what do you mean?"
"I mean that from this day forward, I am leaving the Akatsuki organization!"
---
At the Akatsuki hideout, Pain summoned the remaining members.
As the holographic images of the group materialized, Orochimaru was notably absent.
Pain addressed the group calmly. "Orochimaru has defected from the organization."
The Red Sand Scorpion snorted. "Hmph, I knew that snake couldn't be trusted. He always prioritized his own desires over the organization's goals."
Pain nodded. "While it's regrettable, we must focus on more pressing matters. The organization is shorthanded, and recruiting new members is now our top priority."
"Leader," Kakuzu interjected, "do you already have candidates in mind?"
"Yes," Pain replied. "I've identified several individuals who would be suitable. You will each be assigned to recruit them when the time comes."
The members murmured their agreement.
Pain continued, "Before we conclude, there is news from Konoha that you should be aware of. Danzo, the secret leader of the village, has been overthrown."
This announcement garnered varying reactions.
"Who was responsible?" Kakuzu asked, intrigued.
"A member of the Uchiha clan," Pain replied. "A man named Haruto. He wields the Mangekyo Sharingan and has demonstrated the ability to summon Susanoo."
Kakuzu's eyes gleamed with interest. "A new Uchiha prodigy? Itachi, do you know him? His head might fetch a good price."
Itachi's expression remained neutral. "I don't know him."
Inwardly, however, Itachi was deeply conflicted.
Haruto? How did he rise to such power?
Haruto was not a stranger to Itachi. They were from the same clan, yet Haruto had always been an outlier—someone Itachi hadn't deemed significant.
During the Uchiha massacre, Haruto's absence from the compound had spared him. Itachi hadn't seen the need to hunt him down.
Now, the revelation that Haruto had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan—and even mastered Susanoo—left Itachi questioning everything.
Haruto, you've hidden your true self well. Are you an even better actor than me?
Itachi resolved to return to Konoha. He needed to see Haruto for himself and determine whether his younger brother, Sasuke, could be entrusted to him.
"Do you have nothing else to say about this, Itachi?" Kakuzu pressed.
Itachi's voice was cold. "I already told you—I don't know him."
Kakuzu scowled, his patience wearing thin.
Pain intervened. "According to intelligence, Haruto is a peculiar figure. He's not just powerful—he's also built a harem within the Uchiha clan. Reports suggest he has nearly 2,000 wives and over 100 children."
The room fell silent.
Even for the eccentric members of the Akatsuki, this was unprecedented.
The Red Sand Scorpion chuckled darkly. "So, the Uchiha clan has produced a lunatic. Itachi, you must be proud."
He continued, his tone mocking. "Last year's massacre seems pointless now. In just one year, Haruto has revived what you worked so hard to destroy. Should I assist you in exterminating them again? Unlike you, I ensure my work leaves no loose ends."
Itachi ignored the taunts. His mind was elsewhere, fixated on the enigmatic Haruto.

In a hidden underground chamber, Retsu sat quietly, sharpening her blade. She had been Haruto's most loyal ally since the massacre. Together, they had worked tirelessly to rebuild the Uchiha clan from the shadows.
Retsu glanced up as Haruto entered.
"Another meeting with the council?" she asked, her voice tinged with amusement.
Haruto nodded, his expression calm. "They're still hesitant to align with us fully, but they'll come around. The village can't ignore the resurgence of the Uchiha forever."
Retsu smirked. "And how are your… familial affairs? Another child on the way?"
Haruto chuckled. "Perhaps. The clan's future depends on numbers, after all."
Retsu shook her head. "Only you could turn repopulating the clan into a full-time job."
Haruto's gaze grew serious. "Retsu, there's something I need to discuss. I've felt Itachi's presence nearby. He'll come for me soon."
Retsu's grip tightened on her blade. "Do you think he intends to kill you?"
"No," Haruto said, his voice steady. "He wants to understand me. And I need to understand him. For Sasuke's sake."
Retsu nodded. "Then I'll stand by your side, no matter what."
As Haruto stared into the distance, he couldn't help but wonder what awaited him in the inevitable confrontation with his brother.
