"I've been thinking about our parents," Selene said softly, her head resting on Kael's shoulder. "About how much they loved each other."
Kael nodded, his gaze distant. "Yeah. They made it seem so easy, didn't they?"
Selene smiled. "They did. But I think we're starting to understand that it wasn't always easy for them. They just made it work."
Kael turned his head to look at her, his expression thoughtful. "Do you think we can make it work?"
Selene met his gaze, her heart swelling with emotion. "I think we can. As long as we're willing to keep trying."
Kael leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "Then let's keep trying."
