章節 35: Ch-35 Betrayal, selling out?

The cave was silent.

Time passed slowly.

President Loki turned his head toward the passage he had come from, blinking a few times as he mentally calculated the distance.

'It is impossible to surrender. Not in this life. Loki was born to be a king.'

He decided to wait until this guy went into deep meditation and then slip away.

As he thought this, he glanced at Russell lying on the chair, only to find the other looking back at him with a faint smile.

"You think I don't know what kind of person Loki is?" Russell asked.

President Loki forced a flattering smile and opened his mouth to explain, but before he could say a word, Russell flicked his wrist.

The next moment, President Loki found himself hanging upside down, bound tightly, his mouth sealed by cobwebs.

Russell nodded in satisfaction before finally closing his eyes in meditation.

Hanging upside down, President Loki dared not even whimper, his eyes filled with shock.

What kind of Loki variant is this?

Not only could he summon intense flames, but he also used spider silk?

A Spider-Man Loki? What kind of monster has the TVA pruned out!?

The next day. Russell awoke with perfect clarity just as dawn broke.

With a thought, the magic spider silk disintegrated and President Loki fell to the ground with a thud. Grimacing in pain, he quickly scrambled to his feet and forced a flattering smile.

"Great Master, shall I take you directly to the suspicious marks or to the ruined city?"

Russell didn't answer, just gave him a sharp look.

President Loki hurriedly explained, "The marks are suspicious spots in the caves. As for the ruined city, there are areas with a high probability of garbage being dropped, but there are also usually more Lokis gathered there."

"I suggest we go to the ruined city during the day and explore the caves for treasures at night. What do you think?"

Russell grinned.

No wonder Loki managed to survive under Thanos.

Not only was Thanos willing to use him, but Loki's ability to curry favor was truly first rate.

"Fine. We'll do it your way," Russell agreed.

President Loki's face lit up with an expression of honored joy.

After leaving the underground, Russell surveyed the moss-covered plain. The sky was overcast, and the surface seemed deserted.

But he knew better - the Lokis were definitely hiding, moving out of sight.

As they entered the ruined city, the dense, chaotic buildings gave off a sense of unease. Many of the structures had collapsed, making navigation difficult.

Not long into their walk, Russell's spider sense tingled. Someone was watching.

President Loki was oblivious, still wondering why Russell had stopped. A moment later, a loud noise came from the second floor of a nearby building.

~Bang! Bang!~

Five Loki of various appearances jumped down, smirking confidently.

"Looks like we got lucky today."

"It's been a while since I've seen such a stupid Loki strutting around the ruins."

"Ha! I want that suit!"

President Loki's face twitched. He'd seen this scenario before - yesterday, in fact. A similar group of Loki had tried the same thing, only to meet a miserable end.

Knowing his place as a minion, President Loki stepped forward before Russell could speak.

"Who among you knows illusion magic?" he asked.

A Loki in a green trench coat grinned smugly and stepped forward.

"I didn't expect you to recognize my talent for illusion magic," he said. "Now beg for mercy!"

President Loki stepped back silently and turned to Russell with a bow and a sycophantic smile.

"Master, my mission is complete. I have found one."

The five Loki were stunned, then burst into laughter.

One Loki, wearing a green sweater and a gold plastic crown, sneered, "Still playing the dog, huh? First under Thanos, now here in the Void."

"Disgusting. Brings back bad memories. I'll kill your master first!"

He drew two daggers and leapt gracefully at Russell.

The other Loki stood back and watched with amused confidence.

This Loki was their leader. Though he didn't know illusion magic, he was an assassin with decent fighting skills.

~Snap!~

Russell caught the attacking Loki in the air with a slap, twisting his head several times. He wiped the blood from his palm onto President Loki's shoulder and muttered contemptuously, "What kind of assassin tries a frontal slash on me?"

The remaining four Loki stared in shock at the crumpled form of their leader.

Then Russell's voice broke the silence:

"Well?"

They snapped out of their stupor and shouted.

"Get him!"

"Avenge the boss!"

"Kill him!"

But their actions didn't match their words. Instead of attacking, they turned and fled, running for their lives.

Russell sighed at the familiar scene. He raised his hand, mimicked a gun, and fired imaginary shots.

A second later, the system voice sounded.

[Frost Bloodline - Low Level (Green) A low-level Frost Giant bloodline. Enhances the body slightly and marks the skin with icy blue patterns.]

Russell's expression remained blank as he continued to plunder the trash entries.

Then, finally, the expected message appeared:

[Advanced Magic - Illusion Magic - Low Level (Green) Grants basic skills in creating illusions and manipulating orbs. Existing skill detected - proficiency increased.]

Russell frowned.

"Proficiency increases aren't enough. I need advanced entries or extensive knowledge of illusion magic."

Over the next three days, Russell looted five more Illusion Magic entries with President Loki's help. Unfortunately, they were all low level, only increasing skill.

One entry granted the ability to create an illusionary dagger, but this was insignificant to Russell.

He began to suspect that in the Void, only Old Loki possessed advanced illusion magic. The others were nothing more than rotten fish and shrimp.

Frustrated, Russell decided to change his approach.

Instead of killing the next Loki variants, he would use overwhelming power to intimidate them and send a message.

"If anyone can find a Loki with advanced illusion magic, I will reward them with a set of Iron Man armor!"

Word of the bounty spread quickly among the Loki.

In an underground cave. Four Lokis - a black Loki, a Kid Loki, an old Loki, and a crocodile Loki - were sitting together, eating canned food and sipping wine.

Boastful Loki broke the silence.

"Have you heard of the bounty? A set of Iron Man armor in exchange for information on advanced illusion magic. Big changes could happen in our area."

The kid Loki scoffed.

"It's obviously fake. Even if it were real, I'd just cut it up. I killed Thor!" The crocodile snarled in response.

Rolling his eyes, kid Loki replied, "Yes, yes. Thor is still Thor, even as a child."

"Why worry? If it gets uncomfortable, we'll just leave. Crowded places are never good for Loki. We can move farther away." Classic Loki spoke calmly.

The others nodded in agreement.

In the middle of the night. As the cave fell silent with the sound of even breathing, a shadow rose silently and crept toward the exit.

Just as the manhole cover opened, a green flash illuminated the area.

Classic Loki and Kid Loki stood there, holding the crocodile.

"I didn't expect you to betray us!" Kid Loki shouted angrily.

"After all these years together, I thought we were companions!" Classic Loki sighed.

"I've spent so many years running, and now you want to betray us? I'm sorry, Loki. I can't let you go."

"Who said I would betray you? Besides..."

The Boastful Loki grinned. He pointed a finger. "Your teleportation spell has a cooldown. You can't cast it twice in five minutes, can you?"
