A massive explosion erupted within the one-dimensional cube. Although Elion couldn't hear any sound from inside, he could see the cube vibrating intensely, generating a powerful gust that nearly pushed him back a step.
"Well, I expected this, but… is it over?" Elion muttered, summoning a steel shield to deflect the forceful wind.
[Not yet. The system message hasn't popped up. But why don't you check, just to make sure?]
Elion nodded. If this method worked and the Dred was truly dead, it would all be over. Yet a part of him wasn't ready for it all to end. Because once this was over, Elion felt he might lose his reason to keep going.
As the wind gusts and tremors from the massive cube faded, Elion deactivated his [Creation] skill, causing the colossal black cube, hovering in the air like a mountain, to disappear. All that remained was a thick white smoke, rising quickly into the sky.
From within the dense smoke, a shadowy figure stepped forward, bringing a smile to Elion's face. Each of the creature's steps was firm, as if it were walking on transparent glass in the air.
The millions of bullets and bombs that had attacked it had torn its body in some places, but within seconds, black energy squirmed grotesquely, sealing the wounds and restoring its form.
"Heh..." Elion chuckled, unable to hide the joy in his heart. This wasn't over, just as he had hoped.
[Would you look at that? It's perfectly fine even after all that,] the system echoed in his mind.
"Isn't it wonderful? It can't die, just like me."
[What do you mean, kid? You definitely can die. Well, at least for now.]
The Dred was astounded by Elion's strength and looked down at him in shock. Though it still wasn't enough to kill it, Elion had indeed managed to push it back.
"You truly exceed my expectations, Elion," the Dred said coldly, yet with a hint of respect.
An odd feeling bloomed in Elion's heart upon hearing the Dred's words. He felt a tinge of happiness—it was the first time anyone had acknowledged him. Well, not someone… but a monster, more accurately.
"Well, it's your fault for giving me a thousand years of preparation," Elion chuckled again.
But the Dred, not willing to give Elion another chance, suddenly spread its arms, releasing a thick, black energy that burst from its body. And within seconds, Elion's vision went pitch-black as though he were blind, the dark energy quickly spreading across the earth, covering oceans, islands, and vast continents, even obscuring the sky.
As the black energy crept into his body, it was as if his senses were being stripped away—he couldn't feel anything around him. The crackling of lava, the whistling winds, and rustling leaves—all were silenced, leaving him in absolute stillness.
I can't see or hear anything beyond my own thoughts. This might be dangerous.
Elion turned his head left and right, searching for anything in the darkness, but nothing appeared. As he pondered a way out of this predicament, a deep, glitchy voice resonated around him, sending a shiver down his spine.
"This isn't over, Elion."
It was the Dred's voice, thick with confidence. It seemed certain this new attack would be enough to defeat him.
Meanwhile, despite the oppressive darkness, a broad grin spread across Elion's face. He responded, "It better not be."
Elion refocused, staying on high alert. His head and eyes moved constantly, trying to predict where the Dred's next strike would come from.
He then activated his [Creation] skill, considering creating night vision goggles to help him see. But he quickly dismissed the thought.
"That's a dumb idea. This isn't your typical dark," he murmured. "Hm… what should I do?"
Before he could think of anything else, something sharp came hurtling toward him. With his sharp instincts, Elion tried to dodge, but the absolute darkness blinded him, allowing the projectile to graze and tear the flesh on his arm.
Elion's expression hardened as blood dripped from his wound, sensing more sharp objects slicing through the air toward him.
"So that's how you want to play, huh? Just watch, I'm gonna catch you soon," Elion said, drawing his sword and swinging it, trying to deflect the projectiles. However, many still struck him.
Then, the Dred's irritating glitchy laughter echoed in the darkness. "You're not gonna do a thing."
Hearing this, Elion stopped moving and chuckled. "You think so?"
Elion had trained for hundreds of years, preparing for this battle. And the Dred thought he couldn't do anything in this situation?
Wrong. He had accounted for this possibility. He had a very simple plan.
A simple problem requires a simple solution.
As the Dred unleashed another volley of needles from all directions, Elion raised his hand and whispered,
"Celestial Torrent."
[1.5 million Imagination Points have been deducted. Current Points: 495,000.]
Simultaneously, the system's message appeared floating in the air, the earth shook violently, the sky split open, clouds parted, and countless divine light droplets rained down, covering the earth.
The divine light droplets struck the dark energy, neutralizing it, and pierced the earth.
"What!?" The Dred was stunned, not expecting Elion's holy light to easily counteract its darkness.
The Dred's dark energy shield began to crack. Realizing the danger, it tried to shield itself and dodge the holy rain droplets.
"Where are you going?" Elion taunted, activating his [Levitas] skill, floating in the air as he chased after the fleeing Dred, who was trying to escape into space.
At the same time, the divine droplets continued raining down on earth, producing massive explosions that shattered continents and dried up oceans.
[You really pulled the worst possible outcome, kid,] the system said, watching the earth crumble.
But Elion didn't care; he continued chasing the Dred. Seeing the Dred's exposed back, Elion drew a sword from his inventory and gripped it tightly as he sped through the air.
"You're not going anywhere!" Elion yelled, swinging his sword with speed and precision.
In an instant, a long vertical slash severed the Dred's body in half…
SLASH!
The slash even cut through the divine droplets, finally striking the moon and destroying part of it.
The Dred, newly sliced, looked shocked, but the disgusting black energy quickly reattached its body, and it kept fleeing without looking back.
"Tch! That annoying regeneration… " Elion muttered, creating a special outfit that allowed him to survive without oxygen in space, then flying after the Dred.
When they finally reached outer space, Earth began to fracture like a shattered vase, lava pouring from massive cracks. The continents crumbled, and within moments, the planet could no longer hold together.
BOOM!
With a final explosion, Earth broke apart, fragments drifting in space and colliding with the moon and planets, causing the entire solar system to spiral into chaos.
Meanwhile, Elion and the Dred quickly steadied themselves, hovering near Mars's atmosphere. For a moment, they stood silently, gazing at the destruction they had caused. The sight was both tragic and magnificent. Earth had become a field of asteroids; the planets drifted off course, and the sun's light shone brightly in the void.
Breaking the silence, the Dred looked at Elion tauntingly, "What are you going to do now? I know you've used up almost all your energy. I can feel it."
The Dred was nearly correct. Elion's Imagination Points were running low, and with what remained, there wasn't much he could do against it.
But Elion didn't rush to answer. He seemed to be waiting for something. And when that something appeared before him, his expression suddenly changed—cunning and filled with madness, causing the Dred to shudder.
[You have successfully killed an evolved Dred! (6 Billion x)]
[You have leveled up! (12 Billion x)] [Lv. 22,000 → Lv. 12,000,022,000]
A wide grin formed on Elion's face as he looked at the Dred, responding arrogantly, "You really think so?"
