Uncovering the Past
The moment I stepped into the towering glass doors of Asher Enterprises, I could feel the weight of expectation pressing down on me. My head throbbed faintly, a lingering reminder of my recent accident, but I didn't have time to dwell on pain. If I slowed down, Kelvin would take advantage and twist the situation in his favor again.
People glanced at me as I walked past, their whispers just loud enough to reach my ears. I ignored them, heading straight to my office. The calm I was trying to maintain shattered the second Jacob barged in, his face drawn with tension.
"Sam, there's an emergency stakeholders meeting," he said quickly, his voice hushed but urgent.
I frowned. "Why wasn't I informed?"
Jacob hesitated, and that pause told me everything.
"It's Kelvin," he admitted reluctantly. "He made sure you weren't invited."
