Like the coward that I was, I did the only thing I knew how to do.

I ran.

Like a cat with its tail between its legs, I ran, determined to never face Kieran again if I could help it.

I didn't attend any of the business meetings I was supposed to have with Kieran's company. I called Juliette and asked her to cancel them temporarily instead, giving no reasons and ignoring her questioning words.

Since the day I walked out on him in my office, I had gone extra length to avoid Kieran and anything that had to do with him.

After canceling the first few meetings and not showing up at work for fear of running into him in my office again, Juliette called to know what was wrong. She told me that rumors were beginning to fly around, trying to speculate why I suddenly ordered for the cancellation of the partnership meetings.
