As Jacob steadied himself, familiar green letters floated across his vision, glowing in the periphery of his mind.

He recalled how he had transported himself in a split second from the arena floor to stand between the princess and certain death. The faerium within him surged again, thrumming with barely contained power, and more words shimmered into view. 

Faerium Barrier Detected: Barrier Overridden With Unloading of Faerium

Jacob felt the immense flow of energy pulsing within him. The dark mages' barrier, which had drained the faerium from everyone else, couldn't keep up with the torrent coursing through his veins. His connection to faerium had intensified beyond their ability to suppress it.

But that wasn't all. The letters in his vision flickered once more.
