Leng Rongrong cast a disdainful glance at Ye Qiushu, rolling her eyes. "Who do you think you are? Is it so strange to eat breakfast when you're hungry? What era are we in? You think this is a television drama? Offering tea at dawn, as if you were the Empress Dowager?"
Ye Qiushu habitually clashed with Mo Linyuan.
Having long grown bored of sparring with this disabled man, she found amusement in confronting a newcomer. She anticipated that Leng Rongrong would present a meek demeanor.
To her surprise, Leng Rongrong was sharp-tongued and retorted immediately, displaying a complete lack of manners.
"You—"
"What do you mean by 'you'? Are you unwell? I didn't even ask you if I could have breakfast!"
After delivering her sharp response, Leng Rongrong turned her attention to the elderly master.
Amidst the throng, she only recognized the old man.
She had gathered a rough understanding of the Mo family's dynamics a month prior to the wedding.
To be frank, none of the uncles and aunts were particularly appealing; it was only the old master who treated her fiancé, Mo Linyuan, well.
The old master chuckled warmly, "Newlyweds, it's not surprising that you're awake late. I've heard that Rongrong is taking care of Ah Yuan today. Rongrong, you've worked hard. Zhang Ma, hurry and bring out breakfast, so Rongrong and Ah Yuan can eat!"
"Dad, lack of decorum leads to chaos! This kind of indulgence is not good!" Ye Qiushu retorted furiously.
For decades, she had wielded her sharp tongue in the Mo family, instilling fear in all.
Now, being silenced by a newcomer was utterly intolerable.
"You're the second aunt, right? As for rules, it's always the elders who set an example. Are you here to teach me how to be cruel?"
Leng Rongrong pushed Mo Linyuan while smiling back, her expression icy.
"Cruel, you say?" Ye Qiushu's eyes widened. In all her years, no one had ever dared to call her cruel to her face; she nearly fainted from rage.
Without further ado, Leng Rongrong pushed Mo Linyuan toward the dining room.
The dining room was already prepared with breakfast. After placing Mo Linyuan at the table, she began to eat without hesitation.
Mo Linyuan observed Leng Rongrong, surprised by her sharp wit and boldness, leaving Ye Qiushu speechless.
"You've made an enemy," Mo Linyuan remarked suddenly.
"That aunt just now?" Leng Rongrong looked up, her gaze landing on Mo Linyuan's handsome face, a smile curving her lips.
What a delightful visage; utterly pleasing to the eye.
If he weren't disabled, countless women would be vying for his attention.
"Second Aunt has a foul temper, sharp and caustic. Everyone fears her. Offending her will bring you constant trouble. As for me, being disabled, I can't protect you," Mo Linyuan warned.
"It's fine; I don't need your protection," Leng Rongrong replied, nonchalantly brushing him off.
Mo Linyuan: "..."
Quite the confident one, isn't she?
"Why aren't you eating? You'll go hungry otherwise. Are you expecting someone to feed you?"
Mo Linyuan remained silent but obediently began to eat.
After breakfast, Leng Rongrong was informed that the Mo family would hold a meeting to discuss Mo Linyuan moving out of the old residence following his marriage.
It was customary for Mo family members to relocate upon marrying, and Mo Linyuan was no exception.
Leng Rongrong pushed Mo Linyuan toward the meeting.
In the grand hall, the Mo family was lively, bustling with conversation and whispers.
As she positioned Mo Linyuan by her side, she noticed he seemed indifferent, as though he were dozing off in his wheelchair.
Leng Rongrong: "..."
Shortly after, the old master spoke again, announcing that, after deliberation, they decided Mo Linyuan would move to an old villa in the western suburbs.
The villa was quite spacious, benefiting from the fresh air and picturesque mountain views, perfect for Mo Linyuan's recovery.
"Rongrong, Ah Yuan, do you have any objections?" The old master inquired, glancing at Leng Rongrong and Mo Linyuan.
Mo Linyuan coughed lightly and weakly responded, "I'll defer to Grandpa."
"I'll also follow Grandpa's wishes; I have no objections," Leng Rongrong replied.
She was more than eager to leave the Mo family's old residence, a place rife with treachery and intrigue. Living under one roof with the likes of Ye Qiushu, who daily belittled others, was a recipe for a short life.
She had married Mo Linyuan out of necessity.
Once her task was complete, she would reclaim her belongings from Leng Guantang and soon after divorce Mo Linyuan.
She had no intention of involving herself in the Mo family's sordid affairs; with Mo Linyuan being disabled, he hardly contended with them, so why should she wade into such murky waters?
"Since you all have no objections, pack your things. We'll be moving today," Ye Qiushu declared, visibly pleased.
The other Mo family members appeared equally content.
With the cripple out of the house, everyone felt a sense of tranquility.
Thus, on the second day after their wedding, Leng Rongrong began the moving process.
However, Mo Linyuan seemed to possess little in the way of personal belongings; aside from an abundance of medical supplies, his clothing was sadly scant.
Leng Rongrong: ...
Why did her husband seem so pitiful?
With no valuables, it was surprising for the Fourth Young Master of the Mo family to be living in such humble circumstances, even worse than her own.
Once everything was packed, Leng Rongrong and Mo Linyuan were escorted to the Mo family's car, accompanied by a man who claimed to be Mo Linyuan's bodyguard.
Just as Leng Rongrong was about to leave, she was summoned back by the old master.
The old master, slightly hunched with graying hair, sighed before turning to Leng Rongrong, "Rongrong, please take good care of Ah Yuan. I know you didn't marry him willingly, but he's all alone now and truly pitiable. I can no longer assist him, so I ask you to look after him, alright?"
Leng Rongrong gazed at the old master in silence.
"I've hidden a little something here for you. Take it; if you ever find yourself short on cash, sell it. Just be discreet about it and keep it safe! In the future, if the opportunity arises, I will provide for you. I don't expect you to treat Ah Yuan like royalty, just ensure he has enough to eat and wear. This home is no longer under my control, so I can't make any promises. Rongrong, I'm pleading with you; you're a good child, and I know you will eventually leave Ah Yuan, but while you're with him, please take care of him."
Seeing the old man's earnest words, it was clear he felt deeply for Mo Linyuan.
After a moment's reflection, she nodded in agreement, "You can rest easy, I will do my best."
At her words, the old master visibly relaxed.
His eyes glistened with emotion, "Thank you, Rongrong. You are a kind child, and good children are always rewarded."
Leng Rongrong responded playfully, "Alright, Grandpa, we need to get going. We still have things to pack. You don't need to see us off; it's hot outside, you should go inside."
Once she bid farewell to the old master, Leng Rongrong collected the items he had given her.
As she turned to approach the car, she was suddenly yanked back with surprising force, nearly losing her balance before she could board.
"What do you think you're doing?"
Irritated, Leng Rongrong twisted around to confront her assailant—a girl roughly her age, clad in luxurious attire and exuding arrogance.
