章節 8: Fight

When Ethan arrived at school, he hurried to his usual seat but quickly noticed that the red-haired guy who normally sat nearby was missing. Frowning, he glanced around the classroom, trying to remember the guy's name. Curious, he turned to the student next to him and asked, "Hey, what's the name of the red-haired dude who usually sits over there?"

The student looked up and replied, "Seojin, I think."

"Right, Seojin," Ethan nodded, the name finally coming back to him. He scanned the classroom again but didn't see him. Shrugging it off, he turned his attention to the window just as the bell rang, settling into his seat as the day began, putting Seojin's absence out of his mind for now.

Today was English class, Ethan's favorite subject. It was a refuge where he felt completely at ease, a comforting reminder of the years he spent living abroad. He lost himself in the lesson, the familiar rhythm of words and phrases washing over him, until the class finally ended.

Once the school day concluded, Ethan grabbed his bike and sped home, his mind buzzing with excitement at the thought of seeing his two kittens again. He pedaled through the familiar streets, the wind rushing past him, when he unexpectedly spotted Seojin. He was surrounded by three boys who towered over him, their menacing presence immediately sending alarm bells ringing in Ethan's head.

Instinctively, Ethan turned to leave, not wanting to get involved in whatever trouble was brewing. But just as he was about to pedal away, he saw Seojin's hand ignite with a fireball, launching straight at the trio.

Ethan's heart raced, caught between shock and fascination. He had never seen anything like it before. The flames flickered in the air, illuminating the tension between them, until a gust of wind erupted from the tallest of the three boys, who retaliated by attacking Seojin.

"Today's the day you die, Seojin, and even your president father won't be able to save you," the bully taunted, his voice dripping with malice.

A surge of fury and determination welled up in Ethan, compelling him to act despite the risk. Without a second thought, he pedaled toward Seojin, positioning himself protectively in front of him.

Seojin's eyes widened in surprise. Isn't that my new classmate? he thought, momentarily taken aback by Ethan's sudden appearance. But he quickly regained his composure and urged, "Get out of here; you'll get hurt!"

Ethan met Seojin's gaze with unwavering resolve. "You can't hurt him," he declared boldly, a hint of confidence bolstering his voice.

The three boys erupted into laughter, clearly dismissing Ethan's words as they charged at them, not taking him seriously at all.

With adrenaline pumping through his veins, Ethan instinctively raised his hand to defend himself. To his utter shock, bolts of lightning shot from his palm, crackling with energy as they struck the trio, sending them sprawling across the pavement.

Stunned by his newfound power, Ethan shouted to Seojin, "Get on the bike!"

Seojin's mind raced. Is he like me? But why isn't he in the academy? The questions swirled in his thoughts, frustration bubbling up. "Damn it," he muttered under his breath, torn between curiosity and caution. But curiosity ultimately outweighed his hesitation, and he quickly jumped onto the bike, eager to find out more about this boy who had just come to his aid.

As they sped away together, neither boy realized that this moment would mark the beginning of a deep friendship, forged in the heat of conflict.

Once they were far enough from where the other boys had been, Seojin hopped off the bike, glaring angrily. "Who the hell are you?" he demanded, his voice a mix of curiosity and disbelief.

Ethan, still catching his breath, tried to process everything that had just happened. "I'm Ethan, but you can call me that. I didn't know what else to do. I just couldn't let them hurt you," he replied, his heart still racing from both the adrenaline and the unexpected turn of events.

Seojin crossed his arms, his expression still skeptical. "You just shot lightning out of your hands. That's not exactly normal," he said, studying Ethan closely.

"I know it sounds crazy," Ethan admitted, scratching the back of his head nervously. "But I don't really know how it happened. It just... did."

Seojin's gaze softened slightly as he considered Ethan's words. "Well, it's not every day someone stands up to bullies like that. Thanks for helping me, I guess," he said, his voice losing some of its edge.

Ethan smiled, feeling a weight lift off his shoulders. "No problem. I couldn't just watch," he said, suddenly feeling more at ease. "Do you want to talk about what happened back there?"

Seojin hesitated, glancing back toward the alley where the confrontation had taken place. "Yeah, I guess we should," he said, a hint of determination returning to his voice. "But we should do it somewhere safer."

Ethan nodded, feeling a sense of camaraderie developing between them. As they walked side by side, their conversation began to unravel the mysteries surrounding them, setting the stage for the adventures and challenges that lay ahead.
