Chapter 13: Greenland, the Island of Gods
"Is there any safe place in the world now?"
Miyamoto Rei stood lonely by the window in the office, her lonely and helpless figure reflected on the window glass.
She gently covered her face with her palms, her shoulders shaking slightly as she sobbed uncontrollably.
Lines of clear tears quietly slid down her cheeks.
Her thoughts drifted uncontrollably towards those sweet memories of her parents. Those once warm and innocent scenes were now like sharp arrows, piercing her already fragile heart time and time again.
She simply couldn't imagine that the home that was once full of laughter and joy had now turned into a desolate ruin.
She was afraid to think deeply and face the unbearable cruel reality.
"Impossible," Takagi Saya's voice was like a bolt from the blue, instantly extinguishing the fire of hope that everyone had just ignited. "This virus is obviously an explosive infection. It quickly caused the same symptoms around the world. There is no safe place in this world anymore."
She sat in front of the computer in the office. The information about the infected body on the screen was like a flood, constantly refreshing. Every new piece of information seemed to announce the death of hope.
Just when everyone was falling into the abyss of despair, Lin Yi calmly uttered a few words: "Not necessarily." Although his voice was calm, it was like the dawn of light, dispelling the haze in everyone's hearts.
Everyone turned to Lin Yi, waiting for his next words.
"Ever heard of Greenland?"
"Greenland? Where is this place?"
When Lin Yi mentioned the name "Greenland", a hint of doubt flashed in everyone's eyes, but then it was replaced by expectation.
Miyamoto Rei thought about what she had learned in geography class, but unfortunately, she had no memory of Greenland.
Saya Takagi is quite familiar with the geography of various parts of the world, and her mind is quickly searching for detailed information about Greenland.
After a moment, a look of surprise that was hard to conceal crossed her face.
"Greenland," she began excitedly, her voice full of hope, "is located in the northeast of North America. It is not only an autonomous territory of Denmark, but also the largest island in the world."
She paused for a moment and continued, "It is worth mentioning that Greenland's industrialization is quite good. Thanks to its rich offshore oil and natural gas resources, the island's economic development is relatively stable. If we can successfully get there, we may be able to find an ideal place for refuge."
As everyone listened to Saya Takagi's story, a spark of hope was rekindled in their hearts.
Although they knew very little about Greenland, at this moment, they chose to completely trust the judgment of Lin Yi and Takagi Saya, looking forward to finding new life in this distant land.
Shizuka Marikawa squatted on the ground, carefully and patiently opening each drawer of the desk one by one, carefully searching for the items that everyone urgently needed.
"Found it!" Shizuka Marikawa's voice broke the silence in the office.
She held a labeled car key in her hand and a relieved smile appeared on her face.
"Let's go, it's time to leave this damn place."
Following Lin Yi's order, everyone stood up and prepared to leave this place full of terror and despair.
Busujima Saeko gently stroked the white nanmu sword in her hand. Her eyes were deep and cold, revealing a murderous intent that was difficult to conceal.
After a whole day of bloody fighting, the wildness and desire for killing in her heart surged like a tide and could no longer be hidden.
The aura around her became fierce and intimidating, invisibly bringing a heavy sense of oppression to the people around her.
Although her companions felt a little uncomfortable, at this doomsday moment, they knew that Busujima Saeko might be able to better adapt to this cruel world in this state.
Therefore, no one spoke out to criticize her, but just silently accepted her condition.
Lin Yi and his group pushed open the door of the office building. They stood on the stairs, holding their breath, and observing the situation outside intently.
Dozens of infected bodies were seen wandering aimlessly on the playground. Their figures were elongated and distorted under the dim light, looking particularly strange.
These infected bodies occasionally emit low roars and hisses, which are creepy.
"Avoid it if you can, and then attack if you can't."
Lin Yi warned seriously, knowing full well that the consequences of a head-on conflict with numerous infected bodies in an open field would be disastrous.
These infected bodies are not only huge in number, but also highly contagious and ferociously aggressive.
If you accidentally attract a large group of infected bodies to attack you, even with the most advanced skills, it will be difficult to escape unscathed.
"learn."
Komuro Takashi and others nodded, held their weapons tightly, and followed Lin Yi's steps.
Fortunately, although the infected body's hearing was extremely sharp, they successfully avoided detection through everyone's careful concealment.
After safely arriving at the entrance of the parking lot.
The parking lot at Fujimi University is located underground, next to a staircase designed specifically for teachers.
When they carefully came to the entrance of the parking lot, they could faintly hear the sound of flesh being torn from below through the gap in the stairs, which made Komuro Takashi suddenly nervous - obviously, there were other people below who were fighting a desperate battle with the infected bodies.
Lin Yi acted promptly and led everyone into the parking lot quickly.
In the middle of the parking lot, two boys were holding baseball bats, struggling to fight off the infected bodies around them.
Behind them, three girls huddled together and shivered.
"Please, quickly resolve the battle and make them shut up, otherwise they will attract more infected bodies."
Hearing the girl's terrified scream, Lin Yi's face suddenly turned gloomy.
Such high-decibel sounds will undoubtedly attract more infected people and make the situation worse.
Busujima Saeko and Miyamoto Rei also immediately realized the seriousness of the situation.
Without any hesitation, they rushed towards the infected bodies that were besieging the boys.
Busujima Saeko held a white nanmu sword in her hand, and every time she swung the sword, she accurately chopped off the infected body's head with clean and neat movements.
Miyamoto Rei used her agility to nimbly avoid the bites of the infected, while waiting for an opportunity to use her weapon to deal a fatal blow to the enemy.
The boy who had just been fighting bravely against the infected body was now exhausted, his face was as pale as paper, and he was sweating profusely.
His eyes were filled with fear and exhaustion, but more of it was gratitude towards Busujima Saeko.
He tried to calm himself down and make his voice sound less trembling: "Thank... Thank you, Busujima-san. If you hadn't arrived in time, we might..."
"We're leaving here, do you want to go?"
Busujima Saeko swung the white nanmu sword in her hand, and the blood on the blade splashed onto the ground.
"Let's go, we'll leave with you."
The boy immediately nodded in agreement and followed Komuro Takashi with the others.
In the dim corner of the parking lot, Shizuka Marikawa finally found the school bus.
As soon as the students got on the bus, they immediately felt an unprecedented sense of security, as if this school bus was their safe haven in doomsday.
Ignoring the blood and sweat on their bodies, they leaned back on the comfortable seats of the school bus, as if this would allow them to temporarily forget the horrific world outside and those terrible infected bodies.
However, just as they were about to leave the parking lot, a sudden burst of hurried footsteps broke the silence around them.
Miyamoto Rei raised her head alertly, only to see a group of new survivors hurriedly entering their sight.
Among this group of people, a man in a suit and glasses was particularly eye-catching. His temperament and dress were different from others.
Miyamoto Rei's face turned ugly in an instant. She clenched the spear tightly in her hands, and her eyes revealed strong hostility and vigilance.
My Plague Inc. was blocked by Greenland again.
