章節 348: Chapter 348: You're Really Not Honest

"Could it be a problem caused by him absorbing the purple qi?" The one-eyed man pondered, the more he thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Their current location was dangerous, likely the most perilous part of Changbai Mountain.

"I sense danger," Lin Fan said.

Old Zhang asked fearfully, "Will something happen?"

"Don't worry, with me here, nothing will happen," Lin Fan reassured him.

He looked at the golden light in the distance. Gradually, the ball of light began to change shape, as if a human-shaped phantom was slowly condensing. Its features were unclear, but the radiance emanating from it felt majestic.

The clan elder and Wu Sheng sensed something amiss. A terrifying pressure descended upon them, and under its weight, they felt their lives were no longer in their control. It felt as though a single thought from the source of the pressure could obliterate them.

The clan elder exclaimed, "This is bad! Him absorbing the purple qi might have angered some terrifying existence."

At that moment, the figure formed by the golden light pulled its arm back, as if throwing something.

Looking closely, it was a golden spear.

A whooshing sound pierced the air. As the spear was thrown, space itself distorted. The surrounding air was torn apart; anyone nearby would have been shredded to pieces, leaving no trace behind.

"Careful!" the one-eyed man warned.

Lin Fan stood before Old Zhang and the others, facing the golden spear hurtling towards them.

In an instant, the spear traversed space and arrived before Lin Fan. Its speed was so extreme that it was beyond the capture of ordinary eyesight. If the clan elder or the others had tried to block it, they would have been pierced through.

Lin Fan threw a punch at the spear.

Boom!

A deafening roar echoed.

Immediately following, a shattering sound reverberated.

The golden spear instantly disintegrated, while Lin Fan stumbled back a few steps.

"Impressive," Lin Fan praised. The attack was indeed quite something. He could feel the immensity of the power behind it. Stronger than anyone he had encountered before. And crucially, it wasn't a person, but a thrown spear. That was truly astonishing.

"This power..." The one-eyed man stared, not daring to blink. It was terrifying; he had never witnessed such a shocking scene.

Soon, he noticed that the golden spear was a physical object. After shattering, its fragments scattered on the ground. He picked up a piece. It seemed metallic, but not quite. Holding it in his hand, he felt a scorching heat spreading across his palm.

"There's some residual power hidden within," the one-eyed man mused, realizing the fragment was not so simple. While Wu Sheng and the clan elder were still stunned, he quickly gathered the remaining pieces.

"Let me see one," the clan elder, finally reacting, hurried forward and picked up a fragment, carefully examining it. Gradually, his expression changed, his face filled with shock.

The one-eyed man noticed the clan elder's change and wondered if he had discovered something.

"What's wrong? Did you find something?" He admitted that his own knowledge was far inferior to that of this interstellar clan. Their insight and understanding surpassed his by a significant margin.

Hearing the one-eyed man's question, the clan elder's mind raced. He didn't want to share his discovery.

"Brother Xu, this might just be a fragment, but I have a fondness for peculiar things. Could I trade something with you for these?" The clan elder's voice was as domineering as ever. His raspy voice wasn't something everyone could manage; it was a special aftereffect only achievable after being personally treated with acupuncture needles by Old Zhang.

The one-eyed man squinted, a look of disdain in his eyes. He felt like the clan elder was treating him like a fool.

Wu Sheng took a fragment from the clan elder and carefully examined it. He instantly understood. The clan elder clearly knew what it was but chose not to reveal it, hoping to trade for the fragments. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn't have thought anything was wrong with the clan elder's actions. Anyone would do the same.

But not now.

They needed to think long-term. Since arriving here, they had encountered situations beyond their capabilities, relying on Lin Fan to overcome the difficulties.

Leaving aside whether they could even make the trade, even if they did, it would make them appear weak in Lin Fan's eyes, potentially creating unnecessary conflict.

"These fragments contain a cultivation technique, possibly a spear art," Wu Sheng revealed.

The clan elder wanted to strangle this prodigal son. They had finally found something good, why reveal it so directly? He could have tricked the one-eyed man first. If he had fallen for it, they would have profited handsomely.

As expected… He noticed the one-eyed man's disdainful gaze.

"Ah, there's still a principled young man among us," the one-eyed man remarked.

In the past, knowing the clan elder's strength, he wouldn't have dared to speak so boldly. But they were relatively familiar now, so a few casual remarks shouldn't be a problem.

Besides… he had a powerful ally backing him. Who could he possibly fear?

Wu Sheng continued, "Leader Xu, these fragments were brought down by Lin Fan, so rightfully they belong to you. But we understand cultivation techniques. We can share our understanding with you, and we can all comprehend it together. How about that?"

"Good, I have no problem with that," the one-eyed man agreed.

Wu Sheng nodded. "It's settled then. However, we've encountered a problem. Should we continue climbing? The attack just now was a warning. We initially thought that even if there were dangers above, they wouldn't be too serious. But after that attack, it's clear that the mysterious, terrifying being means us harm. I'm afraid that among us, only he can survive."

His words were not unreasonable. It was indeed dangerous. Despite their impressive strength outside, it meant little here. If not for Lin Fan, they wouldn't have even made it this far.

As they pondered, Lin Fan made his move.

"There's a strong individual up there. I want to spar with him," Lin Fan declared, his eyes burning with fighting spirit, his heart filled with the desire to test his skills.

Encountering a strong opponent was rare, and encountering one that Lin Fan truly acknowledged was even rarer. His past praises of others were mostly out of courtesy, not genuine admiration.

"Is he very strong?" Old Zhang asked.

"Yes, very strong," Lin Fan confirmed.

"Will it be dangerous?" Old Zhang worried. He feared Lin Fan getting hurt; it would truly pain him.

Lin Fan reassured him, "No, I'm very strong. Besides, it's just a friendly spar, there won't be any problems."

"Wait..." The one-eyed man hurriedly interrupted. Brother, please reconsider! You may see it as a friendly spar, but they might not. It's very dangerous.

"What's wrong?" Lin Fan asked, puzzled.

The one-eyed man explained, "Listen to me, alright? Let's not go up there. That powerful being must be very angry and doesn't want to see us. If they wanted to see us, they would have appeared and met us, not thrown a spear at us. Doesn't that make sense?"

The one-eyed man reasoned, desperately trying to dissuade Lin Fan from climbing further.

"Is that so?" Lin Fan pondered, feeling that the one-eyed man had a point. But he couldn't understand why the being would be angry. He hadn't done anything to provoke it.

The one-eyed man pleaded, "We should wait until their mood improves, then come back."

Currently, several questions plagued them.

First: Was the being up there alive or dead?

Did the strong individual Lin Fan spoke of truly exist?

These were unknowns. If a powerful being did exist, given Lin Fan's nature, he would definitely want to spar. But the being might misinterpret the spar as a provocation, leading to offense and the creation of an enemy.

If the powerful being didn't exist, then how terrifying must the entity capable of such a devastating attack be?

It was another unimaginable scenario.

After weighing the pros and cons, they concluded that it was best not to act rashly.

"Is that so?" Lin Fan felt a tinge of regret. He had sensed the being's strength from that one attack. However, the one-eyed man's words seemed reasonable, though he still couldn't understand why the being would be upset.

The one-eyed man nodded emphatically. "Yes, absolutely."

Lin Fan shouted towards the distance, "I am Lin Fan, and I wish to have a friendly spar with you. I hope you can come out and meet me. We will only determine superiority, not fight to the death. We'll stop when one yields."

His voice carried through the air.

The one-eyed man wanted to cover Lin Fan's mouth. Don't do this! I've already explained everything, why bother? If there really is a powerful being and you provoke them, it will be disastrous!

There was no response.

Only the gentle breeze answered.

Sun Xiao continued her live stream.

"As expected of my idol, always so awesome."

"What was that golden light just now? My eyes were almost blinded. I didn't see what happened."

"Yeah, Doggy Streamer, hurry up and tell us what's going on."

At this point, not only the viewers, but even Sun Xiao herself was bewildered. She had no idea what had transpired. The golden light had appeared too quickly and was too blinding; she hadn't seen anything clearly.

The situation left powerful individuals scattered throughout the area feeling apprehensive.

Even from afar, they could sense the terrifying power.

And that dazzling golden light, so bright it was impossible to open their eyes, even gave them the illusion that their lives could be taken at any moment.

"No response?"

Lin Fan continued upwards, then turned back and said, "Come on, follow me. It's fine, I'll protect you."

The one-eyed man and the clan elder had made up their minds.

They didn't want to go up.

At least not before they understood the situation clearly, they wouldn't act rashly.

But Lin Fan was going, and they were helpless. What could they do? Just watch as Lin Fan ascended with Old Zhang and Little Treasure?

That was impossible.

"Let's go. At this point, trying to talk him out of it is pointless," the one-eyed man said.

The clan elder warned, "It's very dangerous."

"We'll stay close behind, it'll be fine," the one-eyed man reassured him. What else could he say? In this situation, he could only choose to trust Lin Fan, and he was willing to do so.
