章節 142: Chapter 142

The next morning, Kara woke up on Jennifer's bed, her face dazed and confused.

She ruffled her messy blonde hair, which instantly fell into smooth, perfect waves as she ran her fingers through it.

Jennifer watched her enviously. "I wish my hair did that," she muttered.

"Why am I at your place?" Kara asked, sitting up and glancing around.

"Do you think I kidnapped you or something?" Jennifer rolled her eyes and replied with her usual sarcasm, "You just appeared out of nowhere last night. Poor Bruce had to sleep in another room. Still, it's been a while since we had a sleepover, so I didn't mind the nostalgia."

Kara yawned, still puzzled. "I was in my own room..."

Before she could finish the thought, she suddenly vanished with a faint whoosh.

Jennifer froze, staring at the now-empty bed. "Okay, that's not creepy at all," she muttered.

A Sudden Ability

On the other side of Metropolis, Kara reappeared in her own bedroom.

She sat on her bed, her mind racing. That was teleportation, wasn't it?

Kara pressed her palm to her forehead and sighed. Why had this happened?

Teleportation was instantaneous, bypassing all obstacles, but Kara didn't understand why she suddenly had this new power.

I can already fly faster than most spaceships and cover the entire solar system in seconds, she thought. Do I really need teleportation?

It wasn't a particularly useful addition to her arsenal. Kara could already traverse the Earth in a blink and soar to distant stars without needing to jump through space.

Still, the appearance of a new ability puzzled her.

"This is just like when I suddenly gained the power to shrink," she muttered to herself, recalling the odd, inexplicable moments when new powers would awaken in her.

While confusing, Kara saw no harm in having a new ability. "At least it's not a bad thing," she reasoned, shrugging off her frustration.

She decided to experiment. After a few tests, she discovered that teleportation only activated when she deliberately wanted to use it. She could teleport to places she'd already been or locations she could see, though unknown destinations were out of reach.

For most, that might have been a limitation, but with her super vision, Kara could see nearly anywhere in the universe.

Still... this feels redundant, she thought wryly. She already had speed and strength far beyond anyone else's.

But abilities, redundant or not, were still a gift.

After mastering her teleportation, Kara called Jennifer to assure her she wasn't a ghost.

When Bruce heard about the new ability, he sounded amused.

"Between you and Jennifer, I feel like the third wheel sometimes," Bruce teased his cousin over the phone.

Kara groaned. "You're just jealous she likes me more."

Jennifer overheard and laughed. "Hey, don't make my husband pout!"

The call ended with Kara smirking, shaking her head.

A Family Breakfast

"Kara! Breakfast is ready!" Martha Kent's voice called from downstairs. "Stop being lazy!"

Kara smiled at her mother's gentle scolding. She washed up quickly before heading to the kitchen, where Martha and Jonathan were waiting for her.

Jonathan pushed a plate of bacon and toast toward her, while Martha handed her a glass of milk.

The family of three began to eat together, a rare moment of peace for the Kents.

"What are your plans today, Kara?" Martha asked, breaking the silence.

Kara swallowed a bite of toast. "Honestly? I want to stay home for a few more days. It's been five years since I disappeared. I don't even know if my job still exists."

Jonathan frowned. "Don't talk like that. You can always come back and work on the farm."

Kara smiled fondly at her father. Jonathan had always hoped one of his kids would take over the family farm, but neither she nor Clark seemed destined for that life.

Martha changed the subject, suggesting they go into town to shop for new clothes. "Everything you own is at least five years out of style," she teased.

Kara considered it, but then said, "I was thinking of visiting Clark. I want to see how he's doing."

At the mention of Clark, Martha's expression softened. "Tell him to come home soon," she said quietly.

Jonathan nodded but added, "Only if he's ready. Let him grow, Kara, but remind him to stay careful. We don't want him exposing himself before he's prepared."

Kara nodded, her expression serious. "I'll guide him. I promise."

Jonathan and Martha exchanged a glance, their pride and concern for both of their children evident.

With that, Kara finished her breakfast and prepared for her visit, ready to reunite with her cousin and offer him the guidance he needed.

Even as her own powers grew in ways she didn't understand, her priority remained her family.
