章節 110: Chapter 110 (edited)

Kara debated briefly. Was it acceptable to transition from writing about chicken butt to pig intestines? Fortunately, she wasn't crazy enough to risk it. The first article on pig intestines had been intended to shock and attract attention, but her column was about food, not novelties.

Is chicken butt tasty?

To those who like it, yes. For others, not so much. It certainly didn't hold the tested reputation of pig intestines, beloved for generations. Kara had plenty of ideas, though. For instance, she could highlight how some regions looked down on pork altogether, relegating it to bacon, ham, or fried ribs.

This time, Kara recommended pork belly—also known as "three-layer pork belly."

The name originated from its ideal structure: layers of lean and fatty meat alternating three times, giving it a balanced, marbled appearance. She suggested two dishes—simple yet delicious. One was steamed pork belly, enhanced by her unique blend of seasonings tailored to regional tastes. The other was braised pork, rich but not greasy, and irresistibly sweet.

The response was overwhelming. Despite the simplicity of her recipes, they resonated with her readers, earning widespread acclaim. Surprisingly, pork—once undervalued—was suddenly sought after. Prices spiked across the city as demand soared, and metropolitan locals jealously guarded their newfound secret, unwilling to share the recipes with neighboring towns.

Kara had achieved her goal. Two installments were all she needed to secure her credibility and privileges at The Planet Daily. Even her previously skeptical colleagues acknowledged her talent, while Perry, her editor, kept a wary eye on her every move. He feared she might return to writing scandalous gossip columns, which had previously stirred chaos.

It wasn't entirely unjustified. Kara's brief stint as a gossip columnist had been wildly successful—not because she fabricated stories, but because everything she wrote turned out to be true. Perry had been baffled by how accurately her articles predicted the scandals that paparazzi later uncovered.

Now, Kara focused on her food column, which updated weekly. Perry insisted on this frequency to ensure she wouldn't disappear for weeks on end. Her articles were so popular that readers even joked about tying her to the office so she could write more food guides. Perry couldn't afford to lose her—chefs and amateurs alike found it impossible to replicate her unique voice and perspective.

After submitting her next month's batch of articles, Kara finally earned a rare day off. She decided to visit Metropolitan University, her alma mater, to see her younger brother, Clark. Returning to the familiar campus brought a wave of nostalgia. She wandered the playground, savoring the break, until a faint noise caught her attention.

Curious, Kara followed the sound toward a secluded corner, a spot notorious among students for its late-night rendezvous. Kara couldn't resist investigating. She crept closer, only to be startled when a familiar face appeared before her.

Clark stood there, his expression caught between embarrassment and resignation. "It's not what you think," he explained quickly.

Kara's curiosity turned into disbelief. "Clark, in broad daylight? Have you lost your mind?" she scolded, slipping into her usual role as the authoritative older sister.

Clark sighed. "I told you—it's not what you think. My classmate Lois had a wardrobe malfunction. I was just helping her out."

Kara peered around Clark, spotting a tall, beautiful young woman standing behind him. Lois had a shy demeanor, her face flushed with embarrassment, and she wore Clark's loose jacket over her shoulders.

Kara's stern expression softened. "Nice work, little brother," she teased, clapping him on the shoulder. Clark winced under her enthusiastic praise—being the youngest in the family always seemed to put him at the bottom of the hierarchy.

Lois, still blushing, stepped forward and addressed Kara. "Miss Kent, I'm Lois Lane. I've read all your articles—your older columns and your new ones. I love the way you describe food and scenery. It's captivating."

Kara's eyebrows rose in approval. She turned to Clark with a sly grin. "Lois, what do you think about my brother?"

Lois blinked in surprise. "Excuse me?"

The question seemed abrupt, but Kara's mischievous smirk suggested she wasn't entirely serious. The interaction left Lois flustered and Clark groaning at his sister's antics.
