The drive back to the mansion was silent, a thick tension hanging in the air as I replayed everything that had happened in the graveyard. 

Bruno's ruthless display of control, the flash of cruelty in his eyes, these were things I couldn't erase from my mind, no matter how hard I tried. 

The way he'd coldly killed his own bodyguard in cold blood, showing me firsthand what happens to those who betray him… I shivered just thinking about it. 

He was a monster who went through any lengths to achieve whatever he wants. If he wanted to have you under his thumb and be fully under his control, he knew exactly what to do.

As soon as we pulled up to the house, I got down from the car, not waiting for Bruno's word. I didn't want to even hear a single word from him because I knew it might shaje me even more than I already was.

I could feel his eyes on my back, but I didn't care. All I wanted was to get as far away from him as possible.
