章節 4: Class 5- A

"Your mother," Seth shook his head and said, "Even our new world order knows very little about her."

"As I said, she was a woman shrouded in vagueness, she was not simple whatsoever." His voice carried traces of wonder and even respect.

Seth's expression wasn't as carefree as before.

Now that Anon was a part of the new world order, even if it was just an act, when speaking of the boy's dead mother, he naturally needed to show slightly more respect.

"Yes, that makes sense. She was knowing and wise." Anon muttered, "Back then, she gave me a rather peculiar nickname."

"At that time, I was how old? Well, I guess it began in the womb, when she started speaking to me about a plentiful number of things."

Seth rose an eyebrow, "You remember things even from your time in the womb?"

"Indeed," Anon's amber eyes shone as he spoke, "My mother was wise beyond simple wisdom."

Glancing at Seth, his eyes showed an imperceivable change, even Seth didn't realize it as Anon continued, "I guess you could say, some of it was passed down onto me."

Seth fell into thought.

His words, there was a feeling that it contained a hidden meaning, but before he could think too deeply, his thoughts were interrupted.

"P… Paging Seth Constantin to the principal's office!"

A loud monotone voice reverberated throughout the school's environment as Anon smiled.

The voice continued, "Repeating. Paging Seth Constantin of class 5- A to the principal's office!"

"Hehehe, skipping class on your first day. No, skipping your first class, it must be some kind of record. The whole of 5- A must be confused, never hearing of some Seth Constantin before." Anon mocked.

Seth cursed at this as he slowly stood up, "This damn…" He grumbled as he walked towards the stairwell enclosure, "There're still many things we must speak of, but when, at break? No, lunch, right?"

Anon nodded his head and agreed to meet at lunch whilst watching on as Seth departed.

A great many thoughts swirled through his mind.

"Dead mother is wise beyond simple wisdom." Anon's expressions were indifferent, and his voice was monotone, saying, "What she said, and what has now taken place, they fit seamlessly."

'Highly likely, this Seth Constantin, approaching me with an offer, an exchange of interest, is the devil dead mother spoke of.'

He thought inwardly. 'I've agreed to his proposal, and thanks to that, there's no going back. A path fraught with danger eh...'

'But to become is only possible if I accept, even if to accept is to willingly embrace torment and hardship. Dead mother used her life to establish this path, and true father already showed me the nature of this path.'

'Whether I reach its summit, or fall off mid-way, at the very least, I'll make dead mother rest easy and go as far as I can, transcending death, or drowning in its embrace, to do or to die, intriguing.'

Anon chuckled whilst rising to his feet.

The gentle breeze made his hair flutter slightly.

"That class should've already ended, and before it began, the teacher would've been notified of a new student." Anon mumbled under his breath.

"Hence, the teacher approached the principal and asked where the new student was? Hehe, I best go to my next class, well, at the very least, it is a teacher with a soft voice."

Anon opened the door to the stairwell enclosure and descended a fleet of stairs.

As a high school student in his final year, his classroom was on the fifth floor, the highest floor of the school building.

So, after descending a few stairs, he had already stepped onto the fifth floor. Walking through the crowded hallway, a few glances landed on his face, but he ignored them with indifference.

Finally, he reached his destination, in front of a classroom's sliding door.

Above was a small sign with the words 5- A in bold.

Sliding open the door, the view of the classroom entered his field of vision.

Since there was a thirty-minute break between classes, there weren't many students in the classroom at the moment, but his first step alerted a youthful boy in glasses that sat in the front row.

"Anon, you really missed out." He was previously buried headfirst into a thick textbook, but as Anon entered the room, his light brown eyes shone as he stood up, causing the chair's legs to scratch the classroom's tiles.

"Missed out? What have I missed out on now, Felix?" There weren't any visible changes with Anon's expression as he asked.

But the brown-haired boy was accustomed to his uncaring attitude.

"I think we've found your match." Felix giggled as he enthusiastically explained, "Imagine this, it's your first day in a new school right."

"You've just left the principal's office, finalizing the little details like what class you're in and whatnot, and instead of heading to your class, your first class in a new school might I add, you just suddenly disappear to who knows where."

Pausing slightly, he asked with a broad smile, "I'm sure you heard his name on the PA system, right?"

Anon, who had his hands folded on his chest, covered his face with his right hand as his body visibly trembled.

He couldn't help but chuckle at this.

"Indeed, this is funny. Even someone like you is laughing." Felix said with a mischievous voice, "You best be careful. Your title as the greatest slacker might be stolen."

"Boy, you go and study some more!" A voice exclaimed from behind Anon. "Tell me, who's consistently at the top of the class?"

"Although he ditches quite a bit of classes, once he doesn't go overboard, the teachers let him do whatever he wants, why? Isn't it because of this. The greatest slacker? No, the greatest bookworm!"

A youth with a head of blonde gold hair wrapped his hand around Anon's neck.

"Cassius!" An annoyed female voice reverberated, "You're the son of an Otherworldly Knight, the young master of a great family, how can you suck up to someone else like this?!"

She entered the classroom with a deep scowl, but it only highlighted her splendid beauty even more.

With a lollipop in her mouth, upon closer inspection, her features weren't too dissimilar to the boy she referred to as Cassius, simply more feminine and pretty.

From her crystal blue eyes and the strands of blonde gold hair that stuck out of the oversized hoody she wore; it was obvious that she and Cassius were siblings.

"Cat, you're mistaken. This is nothing but the truth." Cassius smirked, "I've long made an oath to bow my head to no man, except Anon."

Cassius shamelessly cackled, earning the attention of all who were in the class.

Both his sister and Felix looked at him, simultaneously both stunned and embarrassed.

"Huh?!"

He was similarly stunned after realizing that his arm, which previously wrapped around Anon's neck, was now free.

Anon had already escaped in silence, taking to his seat in the backrow, a window seat.

"My glorious king, why are you running-!"

Before the blonde-haired boy could continue, he was sent flying by a kick from Cat.

Her crystal blue eyes shone with annoyance, doubt, and even rage.

Felix thus dived into his textbook once again.

When Catharina became enraged, he would sometimes suffer too, so it was best to leave Cassius to the dogs.

Plus, no matter what, he needed to stay relentless in his studies, to pass the final exams.

Anon was an oddity, but he, Felix, did not claim to be a genius.

Only through hard work could he pass the final exams and acquire the minimum requirement to enter the military zone.

The military zone, it was a short three-month camp called the camp of ten thousand, therein, one's future would be decided.

To change one's fate of just another ordinary stranger, one needed to become an honorable warrior, a soldier of the Victorious Fighting Army.

It was incredibly difficult to become a soldier without entering the military academy, and it was impossible to enter the military academy without graduating from the camp of ten thousand.

To become a soldier…

He didn't do it for glory and honor, nor fame and authority, but for his family, to change their bottom-class status.

'No matter what, I've already promised Lener I'll succeed.'

Felix's light brown eyes shone with determination.

From middle-school to high-school, those with the best results were assigned into class 1- A.

To be ranked in the top ten amongst the "A" classes spanning first year to fifth year, is to be the so-called bookworm.

At least, this was the case for the most part.

Whether it be for Felix and the others, even Catharina, they all attended cram school, and whether it was in bed, in the toilet, they all exerted themselves to the bone.

Like this, they were able to stay in the top of class "A" for their five years of high school.

And still, in class "A", there were only three students said to have passed the final exams without having passed it.

Such a judgment was based on the test results of the recent past.

Catharina was one, another was a girl named Melissa Green, and finally, the greatest slacker, Anon.

Of them, the most confusing mystery remained Anon.
