"That's a serious accusation you just made, mother. Do you have any proof to back it?" I tried calming myself down and asked, playing around with a breakfast burrito.

My mother scrunched her face, leaning away from me. "What? You're telling me that you'll believe for one second that Phoebe has stopped seeing the Beta?" She asked.

I looked away from her, gritting my teeth.

It didn't take long for my mother to snigger and lean back closer to me. "Don't be naive, son. Every werewolf, even the ones at the very bottom, is power-hungry. It's clear that Phoebe simply wanted to leech off from both you and–"

"Mother, please!" I couldn't take it anymore and threw the fork in my hand on the plate, causing my mother to jerk back in surprise.

The dining room became silent as I stared blankly at the space in front of me.
