A week after the tournament had started, Cole was preparing for his next match when an unexpected visitor appeared at the gym. He was warming up, wrapping his hands as he prepared for another round of sparring, when a familiar figure stepped through the door.
Jayden.
Cole's fists tightened as he saw his old rival approach, a sly smirk plastered on his face. Jayden hadn't changed much—still cocky, still full of swagger—but there was something different in his eyes. Something more dangerous.
"What are you doing here?" Cole asked, his voice tense as he turned to face Jayden.
Jayden shrugged, looking around the gym with casual disinterest. "Just checking in. Heard you've been making waves."
Cole narrowed his eyes, stepping closer. "You didn't come all this way just to check in. What do you want?"
Jayden's smirk widened, but his eyes remained cold. "I heard you've been ignoring some very powerful people. That's dangerous, Cole."
Cole's heart raced, but he kept his expression neutral. "I'm not playing their game anymore."
Jayden chuckled, shaking his head. "That's what I figured. But you know how it goes, man. You don't just walk away. Especially not when you start getting attention."
Cole stared at him, his fists clenching. He knew where this was going, but he wasn't about to back down.
"So what?" Cole asked, his voice hard. "You came here to threaten me?"
Jayden's smirk faded, and for a moment, his expression turned serious. "I'm not here to threaten you, Cole. I'm here to warn you. They're not going to let you walk away from this."
Cole's jaw tightened, but he didn't look away. "I'm not scared of them."
Jayden sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You should be. You're good, Cole—real good. But they're not going to fight you in the ring. They'll come after you in ways you won't see coming."
Cole took a step forward, his voice low and dangerous. "Let them try."
Jayden held his gaze for a long moment, then shook his head. "You're stubborn, man. I'll give you that. Just… be careful. They don't play fair."
With that, Jayden turned and walked out of the gym, leaving Cole standing there, his mind racing. The warning echoed in his head, but Cole couldn't afford to let fear control him. He had come too far, fought too hard, to let these people pull him back into their world.
