章節 40: 40: Food wars and Rock-star inventor

Once inside, Aiden turned to Celeste with a mischievous grin. "How about we celebrate all the progress with a cake? It'll be fun!"

Celeste's eyes lit up with enthusiasm. "That sounds great! I've never baked a cake before!"

Erena's eyes widened in alarm. "Master Aiden, perhaps we should leave the baking to the professionals. The kitchen is stocked with delicate equipment, and—"

But before she could finish, Aiden had already dashed toward the kitchen. "Come on, it'll be fine! What could possibly go wrong?"

Celeste followed suit, practically bouncing with excitement. As they entered the kitchen, the large space was a culinary paradise filled with shiny utensils, bowls of varying sizes, and a vast array of ingredients.

Aiden opened the pantry and declared, "Let's start with the basics! Flour, sugar, eggs… oh, and chocolate! You can't have cake without chocolate!"

"Right!" Celeste chimed in, grabbing a bag of flour with a determined look.

But as she swung it down onto the counter, the bag burst open, sending a cloud of white flour into the air. They both froze, covered in a fine dust, looking like they had just stepped out of a winter wonderland.

Erena stood outside the kitchen door, facepalming. "I tried to warn you…"

"Oops! Sorry, Erena!" Aiden laughed, trying to brush off the flour. "But this is part of the fun, right?"

Just then, Seraphine and Kaela walked in, glancing around in confusion. "What's going on in here?" Kaela asked, raising an eyebrow at the chaos.

Seraphine burst out laughing. "It looks like a flour bomb exploded! Are you two making a cake or a disaster?"

"Both!" Aiden exclaimed, grabbing a whisk and playfully flicking it at Celeste, who responded with a giggle. "Want to join us?"

Seraphine and Kaela exchanged glances before grinning. "Why not? We could use some fun!" Seraphine said, rolling up her sleeves.

The four of them set to work in a whirlwind of activity. Celeste tried to pour the sugar into the mixing bowl, but Aiden's enthusiasm got the best of him. He knocked over a jar of sprinkles that promptly scattered everywhere.

"Oops!" he shouted, eyes wide in mock surprise.

"Just add them to the mix!" Kaela suggested, now on the other side of the counter, sifting flour. "It'll be a confetti cake!"

As they continued, flour was everywhere—on the countertops, the floor, and even on Nimbus, who was sitting under the table, looking bewildered but adorable.

"Look at Nimbus! He's the cutest little baking assistant!" Celeste laughed, picking up the tiny dog and dusting off the flour clinging to his fur.

"We're making a royal mess!" Seraphine added, trying to find a space to set down a bowl, but finding it nearly impossible amid the chaos.

After what felt like an eternity of comedic mishaps—broken eggs, spilled milk, and more flour clouds—they finally managed to mix all the ingredients together.

Aiden placed the batter into a cake pan, and Celeste added a generous helping of chocolate chips on top, while Seraphine attempted to clean up some of the mess, only to make it worse.

"I swear, if we keep this up, we'll need a construction crew to fix the kitchen!" she joked, chuckling at the situation.

Finally, after what felt like a mini war in the kitchen, they slid the cake into the oven. Breathing a collective sigh of relief, they leaned against the counter, surveying the aftermath of their baking spree. Flour coated everything, and the kitchen looked like a tornado had passed through.

Erena walked back in, surveying the chaos with her hands on her hips. "I see my predictions were correct. What did you do?"

Aiden grinned sheepishly, flour still dusting his hair. "We made a cake!"

"A disaster more like it!" Erena shook her head, unable to suppress a smile. "Just try to keep the destruction to a minimum from now on."

As they waited for the cake to bake, the group began to clean up, still laughing and teasing each other about their culinary calamity.

With flour everywhere and smiles all around, it was clear that the kitchen may have been a mess, but the bonds being formed were undeniably sweet. (pun intended)

Aiden sat in his spacious room, the warm glow of a desk lamp illuminating his sketchpad. Nimbus perched on the windowsill, seemingly unbothered by the raucous sounds of Detroit Rock City by KISS blasting from the speakers.

Aiden's hand glided across the page, pencil scratching as he hummed along to the intro.

He paused to stretch, stood up, and grabbed an air guitar, mimicking Paul Stanley's opening riffs with exaggerated flair.

The music surged, and Aiden threw himself into the performance, his dreadlocks bouncing to the beat.

🎵"I feel uptight on a Saturday night!"🎵

Aiden belted the words with all the confidence of a rock star, spinning in place and pointing dramatically at Nimbus, who tilted his head quizzically.

He danced back to his desk, plopping into his chair just in time to scribble a few notes beside the sketch of what looked like a small, modular drone.

"This stabiliser needs to counteract wind resistance…" he muttered to himself, the pencil twirling between his fingers. Then, unable to resist, he burst back into song:

🎵"Nine o'clock, the radio's the only light!"🎵

His voice echoed in the room as he added intricate wiring diagrams to the design, sketching out propulsion mechanisms and power sources.

The rhythm of the song seemed to guide his pen, each beat inspiring another innovative tweak. He paused briefly to grab a ruler, using it to add precise dimensions to the schematics.

🎵"I gotta hit the road, first I drink, then I smoke!"🎵

Aiden stood again, strumming his air guitar like a rock god, his foot stomping in time with the bassline. Nimbus squeaked, his tiny head tilting as he observed his human's antics.

Aiden's energy peaked as the chorus kicked in,

🎶"I gotta laugh 'cause I know I'm gonna die, why?🎶

🎶Get up, everybody's gonna move their feet!🎶

🎶Get down, everybody's gonna leave their seat!"🎶

He jumped onto his bed, bouncing to the beat as he sang, the pencil now forgotten on his desk. His movements were dramatic, arms wide, as though performing for an unseen audience. Nimbus hopped off the windowsill and scurried onto the bed, joining Aiden in his impromptu concert.

After a particularly wild guitar solo, Aiden slid back into his chair, catching his breath as the bridge began. The music played softer now, giving him a chance to focus on the second sketch—a pair of sleek goggles equipped with a series of advanced lenses. He jotted down ideas:

- Infrared and night vision compatibility

- Real-time data analysis display

- Adjustable magnification

🎵"Movin' fast, doin' ninety-five! Hit top speed, but I'm still movin' much too slow!"🎵

His voice picked up again as he shaded the sketch, tapping his foot against the floor in rhythm. He laughed, shaking his head at how the song made everything feel twice as exhilarating.

The second verse faded into another iconic chorus, and Aiden was back on his feet, this time pulling Nimbus into his performance.

"Dance with me, little buddy!" he said, holding the chinchilla as he swayed to the beat. Nimbus squeaked in protest but allowed himself to be twirled in Aiden's hands.

🎶"Get up, everybody's gonna move their feet! 🎶

🎶Get down, everybody's gonna leave their seat!" 🎶

The music surged to its epic finale, and Aiden jumped dramatically, landing in a crouch with Nimbus in his arms as though they'd just finished a sold-out stadium tour.

The song's final notes played out, leaving the room in an oddly serene silence.

Still grinning, Aiden plopped back into his chair and glanced at his sketches. "Alright," he said, ruffling Nimbus's fur. "Now to build these bad boys."

With that, he grabbed another piece of paper, jotting down materials he'd need for his drone and goggles, humming the melody of Detroit Rock City as it looped in his head.

The night was far from over; the rock star inventor was just getting started.
