Ava couldn't deny her magical pull toward him, but she wasn't ready to give in to this desire – not yet.

"Don't assume things," she retorted. "I don't feel anything. I agreed to come back here to make my father happy, to make him worry-free, and concentrate on his recovery. If you force me like this, I'll leave."

That was enough to make Dylan retreat, disappointment twisting his guts. "Sorry," he muttered. "I forgot my boundaries. Rest assured; I won't force you." He rolled out of the bed. "Sorry to disturb you in your sleep. Tomorrow, I'll move out."

He walked away.

"No need to move out." Ava's voice from behind stopped him right at the doorstep. Her heart hammered in her chest as she watched his stiff back. She clenched her fingers tighter around the hem of her nightdress. "This house is too big and too quiet. I'm not used to being alone. You can stay here."
