Dylan took some time to process what he had just heard. He had imagined many things about why Ava had met with Nicholas. He had assumed they might have been talking about the new business they had started or maybe they had been just spending some quality time together, planning about their future. But what she had said was something that had never crossed his mind.

His heart thumped with joy and adoration as he realized she still cared about him even though she didn't voice it.

"Were you worried about me?" he asked, smiling playfully.

"Worried?" Ava had indeed been worried, but she masked her emotions. She snorted, crossing her arms defensively. "I was just curious, that's all."

"Curious, huh?" Dylan's lips curved into a mischievous grin. "Or maybe…jealous?"

"Jealous?" Ava repeated incredulously, rolling her eyes. "Please. I couldn't care less who you're with or what you're doing."
