Ava lay on her side, her eyes wide open, staring into the dim void. Sleep eluded her as Ethan's warning echoed in her mind. A cold unease settled over her.

'Could he have been involved in the mechanic's death?' She couldn't help but wonder.

'But he was at the hospital,' she reminded herself, her brows furrowing. It didn't add up. Part of her hesitated to believe that Dylan could do that.

'He said he was manipulated into suspecting Papa,' she recalled. 'Was he telling the truth?'

Doubt warred with her instincts. Her conscience screamed caution, warning her not to trust him so easily. And yet, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't dismiss the possibility that he might be telling the truth.
