"Lili…how are you feeling now?" Dylan barged into the room; his steps brisk with urgency. Both women turned to him, their conversation abruptly interrupted. Ignoring Ava completely, Dylan made a beeline for his sister, practically shoving Ava aside in his haste.

Ava stumbled slightly, her mouth dropping open in disbelief. Just a few minutes ago, he had been speaking with her so softly. She had even thought he had changed. But now, he treated her as though she didn't exist. The sting of his indifference prickled her skin, and Ava couldn't stop her frustration from bubbling over.

Grasping Lilianna's hands, Dylan asked, "Do you feel okay? Are you comfortable? If there is anything wrong, I'll call the doctor immediately."
