章節 60: Consequences

Gild and the others turned toward their friend named Lin, the one who had been thrown backward by Trevor when the bag of coins struck his face. Although he had somewhat recovered, his expression remained sour and full of resentment. His skill in listening to the movements of the dice was particularly sharp, especially when he manipulated the dice himself during the throw.

Everyone present was burning with excitement, waiting for the moment they could strip away all the money Jun had won. Lin, who had kept his eyes closed, opened them and said, "I'll bet this round!"

His hands grabbed five cloth bags from a small cart beside him, containing a total of five hundred gold coins—all the money he had won over the past few months from gambling with merchants, high-ranking soldiers, and famous brothel owners. The others mimicked his actions, their faces showing unprecedented excitement.

Watching this, Trevor was shocked. If they gambled now, there would be more than a thousand coins on the table—an amount very few people carried with them. With only eight hundred coins left outside of the bet, the wager was now fully covered.

"I'll match the bet, a total of five hundred more coins!" Jun reached into his jacket, pulling out numerous bags, each containing a hundred coins, and placing five more on the table. In total, three thousand coins were now on the table along with the others' wagers.

The hearts of even those not playing pounded so hard it felt like they were about to burst. Whoever won that fortune would have more than enough to live a life of luxury without working another day.

"Since we started naturally this time, as the winner, you get to roll the dice first!" Gild said, pushing the four dice toward Jun, who maintained a defiant smile beneath his face.

Jun shook the dice after taking them and rolled. This time, the wager was so high that it was considered there were two sides to the bet—one formed by Jun and Trevor, and the other by Gild and Liang. Most of the bets were placed on Jun's side due to his previous victory.

"Here we go!" Jun shouted after rolling the dice, and the number that appeared caused even the usually calm Gild to burst into laughter.

Jun, who had lifted the metal cup, revealed the dice—all showing ones, meaning he had scored a total of four points.

"It seems like luck isn't on your side this time, but that's normal—luck is never on our side," Gild said as he picked up the dice and rolled, scoring fourteen points.

"That seems to be the case..." Jun smiled modestly and said to Trevor, "It looks like it's up to you this time."

Trevor smirked arrogantly and said confidently, "Of course, I'll have to win this round, especially after you rolled such a pathetic number!"

"Well, then you'll roll last, as a sign of our participation, which will decide who wins." Gild gestured to his friend to roll the dice. Lin complied, shaking the dice and ultimately scoring twenty-two points.

"Two points short of the maximum score, though it's an incredible amount. I fully believe you can score higher," Gild said with a wide grin, looking at Jun with disdain.

"This is..." Trevor looked at Jun in shock, wanting to ask, "What the hell happened?"

"Don't worry. We're here to have fun. Money only has value in moments like these, so make the most of the excitement and throw with passion." Jun's eyes lit up with excitement. He knew they wouldn't lose, even if they had to resort to dishonest methods to win against these thieves, but he still wanted to stomp their faces into the ground.

"Yes, money is meaningless!" Trevor shouted arrogantly, though the pressure was clearly weighing on his more and more.

Without anyone noticing, Jun's subtle vibrations on the table were affecting the dice. When Trevor shook the dice and threw them onto the table, the vibrations caused them to flip to the highest possible values. As the metal cup hit the table and the dice spun inside, everyone held their breath.

"Since all the bets have been placed, I'll reveal the score now!" Under Jun's words, Trevor squinted and carefully lifted the metal cup, revealing the first die showing five points, two dice with six points, and the last die, which was the final one to be revealed, also showing six points—making a total of twenty-three points.

Liang's once lively expression turned pale. How could this be possible? He had heard the movement of the dice and knew that at least three of the four dice had rolled sixes, but the last one was supposed to be a three. The probability of that last die showing a higher value than four was over eighty percent. However, when the results were revealed, his face turned ashen at the obvious outcome.

Could he have misheard the result that Trevor had achieved? It was impossible for him to be wrong—this was inconceivable to his eyes.

Without any modesty, Jun collected the bags of coins, all piled beside him. "Another victory for us."

Trevor glanced at all those coin bags and wondered how much they were worth in total, but decided not to embarrass herself by fumbling with numbers, so he nodded instead.

"Let's keep betting!"

Gild gripped his hair tightly and smiled with a distorted expression. "The luck you two have is truly amazing. To start the game and achieve these wonderful results shows how talented you are at gambling."

However, after saying these words, Gild secretly shot a questioning look at Liang. Liang's face paled as he shook his head, clearly unsure of what had just happened.

Jun appeared indifferent to the money, as he believed they had won from the start, and even if they lost, they would recover the money by force.

"I'm incredible at this game. I've made more money here than training those lazy campers," Trevor said, brimming with excitement and ready for the next round.

Gild's friends' faces were pale. Though this sum was small compared to what they had, it was still a significant loss for them.

"So, should we continue?" Jun asked, knowing he was getting closer to his goal of crushing these mobsters completely.
