Chapter 61: Encounter with the Straw Hat Crew, Love's Iron Fist
"Luffy!" Chiba called out.
Not far away, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Robin, and Franky all turned to look.
Standing in the middle of the road, about fifty meters away, was a slender man with long hair draped over his shoulders, wearing a Marine justice cloak. He bore a striking resemblance to Luffy—enough to be mistaken for his brother. Beside him stood two Marines.
"Brother?"
"Marine Vice Admiral Chiba, the Iron Fist?"
Luffy was stunned, and the expressions on Zoro, Sanji, and the others grew serious.
Even though Luffy had connections within the Marines, they were still pirates. And standing before them now was no ordinary Marine—he was a powerful figure, a Vice Admiral.
Whoosh!
In an instant, Chiba disappeared from his spot and reappeared in the middle of the Straw Hat crew, startling everyone.
Cold sweat trickled down Zoro and Sanji's foreheads as they registered his speed. It had been too fast—they hadn't even seen him move.
The two snapped their heads toward him just as Chiba's fist connected with Luffy's head.
Boom!
Luffy was sent flying, tumbling down the street in a chaotic blur, bouncing off the ground a dozen times before crashing into a tree.
"Luffy!" Zoro and Sanji shouted, immediately stepping in front of Chiba to shield their captain.
Nami and Robin stood back, faces pale with fear. Robin, in particular, knew exactly how terrifying a Marine Vice Admiral's strength could be.
Luffy, clutching his head where a large lump had formed, shouted, "Ow! That hurt, you jerk! Why do you hit as hard as Grandpa?!"
Chiba crossed his arms and laughed heartily. "You little punk! You've been out at sea for almost two years, and you still haven't gotten any stronger?"
"I'm here to take you back and make you a Marine. There's no future in being a pirate."
"No way! I'm going to be King of the Pirates!" Luffy declared defiantly.
Hearing this, Chiba's expression hardened. He pressed down on Luffy with a menacing aura, making Luffy feel as though he were being crushed by an invisible weight. But Luffy didn't back down, shouting, "I'm a pirate! I'll live my own life, Chiba! You don't get to tell me what to do!"
"Heh. We'll see about that," Chiba said, striding toward him.
Swish!
Two figures lunged at Chiba from opposite directions.
"Nine-Sword Style: Asura!"
"First-Rate Meat SHOOT!"
Zoro appeared to sprout extra arms and swords, his entire form shifting into a demonic aura as he swung nine blades down at Chiba. At the same time, Sanji delivered a powerful kick aimed at Chiba's neck.
Chiba's Observation Haki caught through Zoro's attack. He raised his left hand, extending just one finger.
"Finger Pistol."
A powerful blast of compressed air shattered one of Zoro's swords, grazed his cheek, and shot past, piercing a giant tree behind him with a deep hole.
Zoro froze in place, momentarily shaken as he felt his soul nearly leave his body.
"Zoro!" Sanji called out, increasing the speed of his kicks as he tried to land a blow on Chiba.
But Chiba easily caught Sanji's leg and hurled him aside.
Zoro regained his senses, and together with Sanji, launched another flurry of attacks at Chiba, slashing and kicking over a dozen times in rapid succession.
Chiba countered each move effortlessly, shaking them off with a calm smile. "Impressive. As expected of Supernovas—you've got some skill to exchange over a dozen moves with me."
Nearby, Hawkins, who had just regained consciousness, observed the scene, his jaw dropping. "Is this guy even human?"
"Zoro managed to draw his sword, Sanji managed to land a kick—and all they got was knocked back without a scratch. Do you have any idea how terrifying that is? When he fought us, he took us down one by one, his Haki so overpowering I couldn't even use my Devil Fruit powers afterward."
Zoro glared at Chiba, his voice tense. "You're unbelievably strong… and you only used a single finger against us!"
Hearing this, Apoo, who was standing nearby, nearly coughed up blood. Zoro, do you even realize how lucky you are? You don't know how much he's holding back.
When he came after us, he knocked us out with one punch each. We had no chance at all. You think it's something special to exchange a dozen moves? If he got serious, the two of you would be down in a single hit.
Having a background really makes a difference. Those with connections like you get to survive fighting a Vice Admiral; the rest of us are just fodder.
Hawkins began contemplating a future with the Straw Hat crew.
"At your age, with this level of strength, you have a lot of potential," Chiba acknowledged Zoro and Sanji with a nod, before his expression turned steely. "But that won't stop me from taking Luffy with me."
Chiba took another step toward Luffy. Zoro and Sanji's faces darkened, and they launched themselves at him once more.
Just as Chiba was about to counter, arms sprouted from his body, binding him tightly.
"Zoro! Sanji!" Robin yelled from a distance, and the two seized this rare opportunity. Zoro's swords slashed down while Sanji's kick aimed for Chiba's head.
"Interesting," Chiba murmured, a faint smile tugging at his lips. A light golden shield suddenly appeared around his body.
Boom!
A shockwave erupted, sending Zoro and Sanji flying back dozens of meters until they crashed into a massive tree root.
Chiba's figure flickered, and in the blink of an eye, he was standing before Robin, his index finger poised on her forehead. "Nico Robin, you know I'm Luffy's brother, right? Are you really going to play dirty like this?"
With a smirk, he pressed his finger slightly against her forehead.
"Robin, get out of the way!"
"Stop!"
Zoro and Luffy charged toward Chiba, while Usopp, Nami, and the others looked on, eyes wide with fear.
Robin stood frozen, unable to move, watching helplessly as Chiba's finger hovered over her forehead.
