Chapter 74 It's You, Horikita

____

"Yes, Ichinose is in Class B."

Rin Matsuoka couldn't help but recall the girl he had met yesterday afternoon—Ichinose Honami.

She was sweet and pretty, with a proud, voluptuous figure and beautiful pink hair. If I marry her, our future children will never have to worry about food, he thought to himself.

Horikita Suzune looked at Rin, who had suddenly gone silent (while he was actually communicating with the narrator), and said, "Rin, what's taking you so long? The learning atmosphere in Class D is terrible. It's not suitable for us."

"Well, I think you're right, Horikita. Class D isn't a great place to study," Rin admitted with a nod. "But transferring to another class won't be that easy."

"Why?" Horikita Suzune furrowed her delicate brows. "I know the transfer procedure very well."

She began explaining, "First, we can use the excuse of a 'poor learning atmosphere,' fill out the transfer application with our personal information, and submit it to the school. The school will then investigate our current class. If they confirm that the learning atmosphere is truly bad, they'll give us a test to assess our academic abilities.

"As long as we score high on the test, the school will arrange for us to transfer to a more suitable class."

Horikita paused before adding, "This entire process will only take about a week."

After hearing her detailed explanation, Rin looked at her oddly and asked, "Horikita, how do you know the class transfer process so well? Were you planning to switch classes back in junior high?"

Horikita's expression faltered for a moment. She averted her gaze, leaving Rin with a glimpse of her pale profile.

"So what if I did?"

"What happened? Were you able to transfer?" Rin asked, genuinely curious.

Horikita remained silent.

If she had succeeded in transferring back then, she wouldn't be stuck in the same class with an idiot like me, Rin thought with amusement.

"I didn't succeed," she eventually admitted. "The head teacher told me that my reason for transferring wasn't valid and promised to handle the issue that prompted my request."

"What was your reason for wanting to transfer, Horikita?"

"..." Horikita pressed her lips together before replying in a calm tone, "There was a girl who bullied me."

Rin's expression darkened. He hated the idea of bullying, as it struck a chord with unpleasant memories from his childhood.

"Then I beat her up," Horikita added bluntly.

Rin's mouth twitched. He had foolishly been worried about her being bullied, but now it seemed ridiculous. With her personality and strength, it was impressive that she wasn't the one bullying others.

"I told the school she might retaliate, hoping it would justify my transfer, but it didn't work."

"And after that? Did she keep causing you trouble?" Rin asked.

"Yes. So I went to the head teacher again. She had promised to help me with the transfer issue, but it was obvious she was just trying to pacify me. She didn't do anything."

Horikita's voice was steady, but Rin could sense the frustration beneath it.

"I got into a fight with my homeroom teacher over it," she continued. "Then I went straight to the dean of studies."

"..."

Rin gave her a thumbs-up, grinning. "As expected of you, Horikita."

Rin Matsuoka's praise made Horikita Suzune's lips curl up slightly. She said matter-of-factly, "If the homeroom teacher doesn't take her promise to me seriously, then I'll go straight to the dean, who is higher than her."

"Isn't that the natural thing to do?"

"I once heard a rumor that you had a conflict with your teacher. Was it because of this incident?"

"That's about right."

Horikita Suzune continued, "Because the incident got out of hand, the girl who tried to bully me was interviewed by the school. After that, she seemed to realize I wasn't someone she could mess with, so she avoided me whenever she saw me."

Rin Matsuoka could understand.

After all, the girl couldn't beat Horikita Suzune, so it made sense for her to turn to the homeroom teacher and even the dean. She couldn't afford to offend either of them.

In addition, Horikita Suzune didn't have any friends, so there was no need to worry about how the situation would affect her interpersonal relationships if things escalated.

"I think we have enough reason for the school to approve a class transfer. Don't you agree, Rin?"

"I still don't think so."

Rin shook his head. "Horikita, think carefully. This school is different from others. It has something extra—'class points.'"

"If the school lets students transfer classes freely, the class points, which are a core part of each class, would lose their meaning."

Horikita Suzune frowned, sinking into thought.

Class points are a key factor that determines how many personal points each student receives from the school every month.

If students could transfer classes at will, they could move from a class with fewer points to one with more, giving them access to more personal points.

This would render "class points" meaningless.

Horikita Suzune nodded slightly. "You're right, Rin, but I still want to apply for a transfer. I really dislike the learning atmosphere in Class D."

"If you've made up your mind, I won't stop you. Go talk to Chabashira-sensei."

Horikita Suzune stared at Rin. "We'll go together. Let's request the transfer at the same time."

"Ah," Rin groaned in annoyance, but Suzune's gloomy gaze bore into him, applying silent pressure.

Feeling stressed, Rin sighed helplessly. "Alright, alright. I have Chabashira-sensei's Line account. I'll send her a message and ask about it."

Horikita Suzune smiled and nodded. "Good."

Rin took out his phone and sent a message to Chabashira Sae. Naturally, the message was about the "class transfer," and Rin explained their reasoning.

The learning atmosphere in Class D was so bad that he had no intention of staying.

Most of the students didn't follow rules—some chatted during class, and others even slept.

Rin Matsuoka, as a good student, didn't fit in with these kinds of students!

Of course, even if he transferred to a better class, Rin still had no intention of taking studying seriously…

After all, why would he, when he could get good grades without even trying?

"Alright, I've sent the message to Chabashira-sensei. She'll respond once she sees it… Huh? She replied already?"

Rin looked at his phone in surprise. Horikita Suzune took a step toward him, her soft, slender figure leaning slightly into him.

Her proximity carried a faint, elegant scent. Rin couldn't tell if it was the lingering smell of detergent from her uniform or her own natural fragrance.

Chabashira Sae's response was concise and clear—just one words.
