章節 183: Chapter 183 Did the Fish Not Bite?

On the other side, after hanging up the phone with Jin Shuhan, Chu Yuxuan noticed the sky gradually darkening. He sent a WeChat message to Lao San, reminding him to head home early. As powerful as the Tianji Society was, they wouldn't dare act recklessly in broad daylight, but once night falls, the shadows come out to wreak havoc. Besides, he had already thrown the bait by sending Yao Liang alone to buy clothes, giving the Tianji Society the opportunity to approach him.

In fact, Chu Yuxuan's plan had already begun that day at Yashan Villa, when Lao Wu left two surveillance cameras on. Those cameras were hidden with encrypted passwords, and by not turning them off, Lao Wu made the people monitoring them believe that they hadn't been discovered.

Chu Yuxuan intentionally led Yao Liang under the cameras, ensuring that the Tianji Society saw him keeping Yao Liang close and even giving him a gun, further convincing them that Yao Liang had earned his trust.

Whether the Tianji Society believed it or not, and regardless of whether Yao Liang was truly loyal or brainwashed to try to return to the organization, the Tianji Society would surely want to use Yao Liang as a pawn.

Chu Yuxuan and his brothers had already exposed their skills, so the Tianji Society wouldn't act lightly anymore. Especially in the wealthy Emerald Lake villa area, sending a few assassins to quietly take them out was no easy feat. However, if they resorted to overwhelming numbers and firepower, it could escalate to a large-scale shootout, potentially involving anti-terrorism forces. The Tianji Society wouldn't be foolish enough to dig its own grave.

Therefore, using Yao Liang—whether to assassinate Chu Yuxuan or to locate where Liu Jun was being held—would be their best shot. How they used him was their problem; dirty people naturally have dirty methods. Even if Yao Liang truly hated the Tianji Society now, they had ways to make him obedient.

Chu Yuxuan's hesitant attitude toward Yao Liang was deliberate, giving Yao Liang the impression that Chu kept him around largely because of his past affiliation with the Tianji Society, hinting that he might still be useful.

In other words, even if Yao Liang truly wanted to join them, Chu Yuxuan would push him back towards the Tianji Society.

"Brothers"—those two words carry a heavy weight and aren't given lightly.

Fully utilizing this bait would give Chu Yuxuan some leverage. Otherwise, with the Tianji Society lurking in the shadows, they'd always be vulnerable.

Hopefully, Yao Liang had already met with the Tianji Society today.

After sending the message to Lao San, Chu Yuxuan thought for a moment and didn't bother reminding Lao Si. That guy, whether in terms of vigilance or combat skills, was top-notch—far superior to himself as the eldest. There was no need to worry about him.

Back when Chu Yuxuan hit a bottleneck with his marksmanship, it was under Lao Si's guidance that he improved. As for hand-to-hand combat, Chu Yuxuan was no match for Lao Si, who was leagues ahead. Among the brothers, in a close-quarter fight without knives or guns, only Lao San's large frame could keep Lao Si in check.

All the flashy moves and so-called techniques are meaningless in the face of absolute strength. Otherwise, why would combat sports separate weight classes?

Back in his room, Chu Yuxuan lay on his bed, charging his phone while mentally reviewing his next steps. Just then, his second brother called.

"Big Brother, no one I know has heard of this Tianji Society."

"Hmm, don't worry about it. I'll make progress soon."

After a moment of silence, his second brother said, "Since we've confirmed it's the Tianji Society, there's no need for me to stay by his side investigating anymore, right? I want to be with you guys."

Chu Yuxuan took a deep breath and said, "Hang in there a little longer. You've worked hard for years since returning to the country, don't waste that effort. Staying by his side might still be useful."

His second brother sighed, "The Tianji Society is no joke. You four—not even counting that girl—how can you handle it?"

"We'll be fine," Chu Yuxuan smiled. "Mexico was dangerous too, but we made it through, didn't we? Trust me. Once this is all over, we'll leave the country… I haven't told you this yet, but before we came back, I bought an island overseas. It's still under renovation. Once everything is settled, we'll have all the time in the world to enjoy ourselves."

"Okay, I'll listen to you," his second brother reluctantly hung up.

An hour later, Lao San and Xiao Qing returned to the villa, followed shortly by Lao Si.

Chu Yuxuan called everyone downstairs, pretending to celebrate Yao Liang's joining. He rarely drank but opened a few bottles of Moutai to share with his brothers, laughing and chatting as they drank.

Though Chu Yuxuan could handle his alcohol, he wasn't fond of drinking. The last time he drank heavily, it was to trick the overly confident Hongmei. This time, who was he planning to trap? Even Lao San could guess something was up.

As time ticked by, before 11 p.m., Chu Yuxuan pretended to be drunk, staggering upstairs with Lao Wu's help.

The others dispersed to their rooms, leaving Xiao Qing alone to clean up. She knew her master probably had some plan tonight, but seeing him drink over a liter and a half of baijiu and how drunk he seemed, she wondered if it would affect his actions.

As she picked up the towel Chu Yuxuan had used to wipe his mouth, she realized it was soaking wet, and the half-full bottle of water he had by his feet was now full. Only then did it click—at least a kilogram of that baijiu had been wasted!

Upstairs, Chu Yuxuan quickly snapped into action, joining Lao Wu in front of the surveillance monitors to carefully observe the villa's surroundings.

After giving away so many obvious openings, the Tianji Society had no reason not to act—or Yao Liang had no reason not to make a move.

However, after a whole night of waiting, the villa remained eerily quiet.

As daylight broke, Lao Wu cursed, "The fish didn't bite? D*mn it… How are they planning to deal with us? They should be desperate by now. Could it be that Yao Liang really wants to join us, and he was careful enough not to be noticed by the Tianji Society yesterday?"

Chu Yuxuan pondered for a moment before replying in a low voice, "Fishing requires patience. Let's try again today. I refuse to believe the fish won't bite this time!"

Last night's setup was meant to fix a flaw in the previous plan. Back at the abandoned factory, if it hadn't been for that one loose end, Vulture would have fallen right into his hands, a far more valuable catch than Yao Liang.

Now, on his home turf, with Lao Wu's extensive surveillance network around the villa, if the Tianji Society dared to send assassins, Chu Yuxuan would block their signals and capture them all. He wouldn't allow any more loose ends. Once captured, he'd impersonate the killers and feed false reports to their superiors, tracking them back to their headquarters.

But for now, patience was key. As Lao Wu said, the Tianji Society was likely more anxious than they were. As long as Liu Jun remained alive, they wouldn't sleep peacefully.

So, it was only a matter of time before they made their move.
