Charlotte's gaze shifted from Grace's hands to Sebastian, her voice cracking. "Uhm..." Her throat constricted, and she nervously wiped her hands on her shirt. "I'm Charlotte, Mr. Sebastian... uh..."

She raised her gaze to meet Sebastian's but he quickly looked away and her face fell.

Grace, oblivious to the tension, smiled warmly. "Nice to meet you, Charlotte." Her eyes sparkled as she surveyed the living room. "Ah, I see you've redecorated."

Charlotte's gaze dropped, feeling self-conscious in her oversized shirt. She tugged at the hem, her thoughts racing. Of course, Sebastian had an ex – a playboy like him wouldn't be single. Yet, the way he looked at her, called her name...

Reality dawned on her. Maybe Grace was more than just a fleeting interest. Maybe she was the real deal.

"Grace," Sebastian called, brushing past her without a glance. Charlotte's heart sank, the sting of disappointment piercing her.
