As the fully armed police emerged from all directions, the people getting out of the cars showed no resistance and immediately surrendered, allowing themselves to be subdued by the police. Meanwhile, several officers cautiously boarded the cars and began a thorough search.
The surrender of the suspects did not bring any relief to Zhao Zhengfeng; instead, his expression darkened, as if it were about to rain.
"Officer Zhao, we were just out for a breath of fresh air. We weren't doing anything wrong. Although we've made mistakes in the past, we've turned over a new leaf," said one of the leaders, who wore a gold chain and had a dragon tattoo on his arm. He clearly recognized Zhao Zhengfeng and spoke with a sense of grievance rather than panic.
However, Zhao Zhengfeng found these words grating. His anger flared as he shot a cold glance at the leader, then turned his attention to the inside of the cars, trying to avoid the distraction.
Zhao Zhengfeng had no time for idle chatter; he was focused on whether his subordinates could find any detergent in the cars.
Unfortunately, reality was harsh. His subordinates turned the cars inside out but found nothing, not even a single controlled weapon.
"Officer Zhao, we really were just out for some fresh air. I haven't broken any laws. This is excessive to arrest us like this. Can the police just arrest law-abiding citizens at will?"
The leader with the gold chain continued to complain with a face full of grievance. The faint smile on his face made Zhao Zhengfeng want to punch him.
"Shut up, Song Fei. If you're a good person, then there's no good person left in Xiangjiang. Say another word and I'll make sure you regret it!" Zhao Zhengfeng, already enraged, could no longer hold back. He kicked Song Fei in the stomach.
Song Fei, a reliable enforcer for the Ma family, had been arrested several times before but had always been released due to insufficient evidence.
"Humph!"
Song Fei grunted, licking his lips, showing no fear despite the surrounding officers and the weapons pointed at him. He had been through worse and was not easily intimidated.
"Officer Zhao, the wheel of fortune turns. Maybe it will come to my doorstep someday. Always leave a line for future encounters!" Song Fei grinned, sneering as if the kick had no effect on him.
"Where are Ma Xiru and Ma Xizhen?" Zhao Zhengfeng grabbed Song Fei by the collar, staring intently at him.
"I don't know," Song Fei tilted his head and glanced at Zhao Zhengfeng before looking away and saying flatly.
"Hmph!"
Zhao Zhengfeng snorted, releasing Song Fei's collar and deciding he could no longer get any useful information or evidence from him.
The urgent task was to find Ma Xiru. Engaging in idle talk with Song Fei was likely a diversion to waste his time.
"Captain Ross, please take me to Officer Allen immediately!" Zhao Zhengfeng instructed Ross.
He was sure that Allen and his team must have received another piece of information and had moved to another location. Seeing that this place was obviously a diversion, it was likely that Allen's team was at the correct transaction location.
"Zhao, follow me!" Ross nodded in agreement, eager not to waste any more time.
"Tian Wei, leave some people here to watch them. The rest come with me!" Zhao Zhengfeng ordered his remaining subordinates.
They immediately got to work, ignoring Song Fei and his group.
Realizing that Zhao Zhengfeng's team had split up, Song Fei panicked, aware that if the police were splitting their forces, it meant that Ma Xiru and Ma Xizhen might have been discovered.
He immediately struggled to get up, but was quickly restrained by the officers holding him.
"Stay put!"
Seeing the officers with guns pointed at them, Song Fei had no choice but to remain still, watching helplessly as Zhao Zhengfeng and Ross quickly left. He could only hope that the correct plan had not been discovered by Zhao Zhengfeng's team.
---
"Captain Ross, please tell me immediately where Officer Allen is!" Zhao Zhengfeng asked urgently in the car.
This time, Ross did not withhold any information, as it was clear that the location they were at was a diversion. He was relieved that Allen had trusted the information from Summer and had promptly dispatched a team to another location.
However, they needed to meet up with Allen quickly to avoid any setbacks for Allen.
"We received secret information that Ma Xiru and his group are meeting at…" Ross quickly relayed the intelligence to Zhao Zhengfeng.
Zhao Zhengfeng was seething with anger, feeling a burning sensation on his face. The betrayal within his team had caused him to lose face in front of international colleagues, and any failure could mean he would be held responsible!
In his frustration, Zhao Zhengfeng also understood that if he were aware of an insider within the international police, he would have also chosen to withhold information to be cautious.
The urgent priority was to join up with Allen's team.
Zhao Zhengfeng and his team raced towards the real location.
---
Meanwhile, Allen's team had set up an ambush at another dock. When Zhao Zhengfeng's team began their operation, Allen spotted a group of people arriving at the dock.
To his delight, among this group were Ma Xiru and Ma Xizhen, which greatly uplifted his spirits.
Soon, he saw the buyer's ship approaching. A group of people with briefcases jumped off the ship and met with Ma Xiru and his team.
---
"Boss Wu, I didn't expect you to come!" Ma Xiru greeted Wu Lao Da with a handshake and a smile.
Wu Lao Da was one of the leaders of an underground force in northern Taiwan Province. Trading detergent was their main business.
"I didn't expect that two big shots would show up. I'm honored!" Wu Lao Da said with a smile, revealing his dark teeth.
"We had no choice. The crackdown was severe recently, and if we didn't come out for some fresh air, our men would go hungry," Ma Xiru said with a look of helplessness.
"Haha, does the crackdown really have a way with you? Now you're just leading us around in circles," Wu Lao Da sneered, glancing at the briefcases being carried by Ma Xiru's subordinates.
"Haha!" Ma Xiru laughed heartily, feeling somewhat proud. He estimated that the police had been attracted by his diversion. He had put a lot of effort into setting up this operation.
"Time is of the essence. Let's complete the transaction quickly. Is the money here?" Ma Xiru asked Wu Lao Da.
"It's here. And the goods?" Wu Lao Da asked, suppressing his smile as his subordinates shook the briefcases in their hands.
"Everything is here. The quantity is definitely sufficient. Your order was large, and I had to go through considerable effort to get it. Forty boxes, totaling one ton!"
"Send someone to inspect the goods!" Ma Xiru said.
