章節 35: Dream

"Have you heard? A war is going to happen," one woman said, her voice tinged with worry.

"Yes, my husband told me," another replied, trying to sound calm. "But we should be safe. Konoha is the best village."

Their conversation paused as they noticed a small child lying on the ground nearby.

"What's that child doing?"

"Sleeping outside?"

The voices pulled the child from unconsciousness, a groggy awareness replacing the haze. Blinking slowly, he murmured, "Where... am I?"

As the fog in his mind lifted, his hand instinctively went to his throat. His eyes widened in shock. "My voice... My body..."

The realization hit like a thunderclap. He didn't need to check further to know. "I became a boy," he muttered, his tone both incredulous and panicked.

Control yourself, Saya. Control. Maybe this is all just a dream.

But the weight of reality settled heavily. It wasn't a dream. Saya Takagi, formerly a high school girl, understood she had somehow transmigrated into the body of a young boy, in an unfamiliar world.

"Where am I?" he thought, glancing around at the foreign surroundings, his mind racing to make sense of the impossible.

"Let's check," Saya now he muttered, shaking off the shock and rising to his feet. His small body moved with a slight awkwardness, but his mind was sharp. This place is big...

He glanced around, taking in his surroundings. On one side, three massive faces were carved into the mountain. They were unfamiliar to him.

"Some kind of leaders or heroes," he muttered, his voice steadying as he tried to focus. I need to gather information. They shouldn't suspect a child.

He approached a flower shop, the scent of fresh blooms wafting through the air.

"Miss, can you tell me where I am?" Saya asked politely, his voice soft but curious.

The woman, who had been arranging flowers, paused and looked at him. "You're in Konohagakure, child. Where are your parents?" Her eyes scanned the area, searching for an adult.

"They're buying something nearby. Thank you, miss," Saya replied quickly, not wanting to linger.

As he walked away, he muttered to himself, "Konohagakure... the Village Hidden in the Leaves."

Before he could process further, a commotion ahead caught his attention. Normally, he might have ignored it, but the participants were far from ordinary.

"Fūton: Gale Palm!" one of the combatants shouted, unleashing a blast of wind.

Saya's eyes widened as she no, he witnessed the supernatural technique.

"What the...?" he whispered in disbelief.

One of the fighters quickly created a clone, maneuvering effortlessly to subdue his opponent.

"Superpowers," Saya muttered, unable to tear his eyes away. This can't be real.

But before he could think further, a sharp voice cut through the chaos:

"Don't move if you want to live."

It wasn't directed at the fighters. It was for him.

Saya froze as a blade pressed against his neck. His breath hitched, heart pounding. He hadn't even noticed anyone approach.

The next moment, his world went dark..

"Nooooo!" Saya screamed, bolting upright.

She was back. Back in his room, seated at her study table, wearing her usual nightclothes. Sweat clung to her brow, and her breathing was ragged.

Grabbing the water bottle on his desk, she drank deeply, the cool liquid grounding him.

"What a dream," she muttered, leaning back and staring at the ceiling.

It had been so vivid, so real the sights, the sounds, even the fear.

Then, a small smile crept onto her lips. "Just a dream," she said, shaking his head. But how realistic...

Kakashi observed Saya from the ceiling, hanging upside down like a phantom shadow. His sharp eyes followed her movements as she muttered to herself, processing the strange events of her "dream."

"At least she knows what to do," he thought.

He'd tested this on others, and none had made it out intact. The only exceptions? Saya and... her mother, Yuriko.

Yes, Kakashi had already encountered Yuriko Takagi.

When he arrived here yesterday, she had been returning from a shopping trip.

Naturally, Kakashi hadn't wasted the opportunity.

He cast an illusion on her, assigning her a role similar to Saya's. Yuriko had not only survived but excelled, navigating the illusion with sharp wit and remarkable intuition. She extracted valuable information, far more than her daughter had managed.

"Like mother, like daughter," Kakashi mused, a faint smile playing under his mask.

Let's check on her, Kakashi thought, disappearing with a flash.

Kakashi moved silently, his presence undetectable as he passed the guards and servants with ease. The Takagi estate was grand, but its security was no match for his skills. Within moments, he reached Yuriko Takagi's room.

It was empty.

Kakashi's sharp senses picked up faint sounds coming from the adjoining bathroom the soft splash of water and the occasional contented sigh. Without hesitation, he stepped inside..

The bathroom was luxurious, a large tub filled with steaming water dominating the space. Candles lined the edges, their flickering light casting warm shadows across the tiled walls. There, reclining in the tub, was Yuriko Takagi, her head resting against the edge, eyes closed in what seemed like rare relaxation.

Kakashi stood silently, observing her, his mind working faster than his pulse. Despite her composed demeanor, there was an air of loneliness about her, a subtle crack in the armour of the elegant, powerful woman. Nobody would guess, Kakashi mused, that this woman has been trapped in a life of obligation and neglect since her daughter's birth.

He recalled the information from memory of her and her husband. Souichiro Takagi, Saya's father, had shown nothing but disappointment when their child was born a girl. In his mind, only a son could carry on his political legacy. Yuriko had endured that disdain silently, never letting it show in public, always maintaining her image as the perfect wife and mother. But in private? Kakashi could see the cracks, the wear of years spent in a marriage devoid of affection.

She sighed, shifting slightly, completely unaware of the presence in the room.

Kakashi stepped closer, his expression unreadable beneath his mask. "Let's see how she responds to an unexpected guest," he thought, a faint smirk tugging at his lips.
