Chisato walked quietly into the classroom and eventually stood beside Kazusa.
From his elevated vantage point, he couldn't see many details, so he decided to crouch down, his face unconsciously moving closer.
He had seen Kazusa sleeping more than once before.
After all, she slept in the classroom every day, and a slight tilt of her head was enough to see her.
Whether she did it intentionally or it was just a habit of sleeping on her stomach, he wasn't sure.
Usually, she slept with her face turned toward the wall, leaving Chisato with only a view of the back of her head, making it impossible to see her sleeping expression.
But today was different.
He had seen Kazusa's unguarded sleeping face once before, in the first piano room, but this was the first time in the classroom.
Her face, usually so aloof and distant when she was awake, appeared delicate and beautiful in her sleep.
Her usually proud demeanor was replaced by a softer, more vulnerable girl-like appearance. Her tender lips seemed to convey a direct and fragile vulnerability.
The aloof armor had been removed, revealing a delicate flower underneath, making one unconsciously want to approach and touch her.
Chisato watched her quietly, his emotions rising and falling, feeling content just watching her without doing anything.
But another emotion was also stirring inside him, seeking attention.
He didn't want to just stay at a distance. Instead, he wanted to move closer and gently kiss her unguarded lips, even if it meant she might later bite him hard enough to draw blood.
He wanted to express his feelings, to make her understand that his seemingly caring gestures were not just out of simple goodwill but to gain her deeper attention afterward.
The evening breeze flowed into the classroom, blowing softly and persistently.
Kazusa didn't want to open her eyes.
She wasn't asleep, just resting with her eyes closed because she was bored of waiting.
At first, she heard the classroom door open and then sensed someone approaching.
She could clearly smell the familiar and pleasant scent of the person. Her finely tuned ears could also catch his deliberately slowed breathing.
She had initially planned to punch him hard when he returned, to teach him a lesson and show him how angry she was after waiting for so long.
She wanted him to understand how unforgivable his actions were.
But now that the moment had arrived, she couldn't make her body react to any thoughts she had.
She didn't want to act out, especially after sensing him crouching down next to her.
She felt that he was very close, watching her.
He had walked over quietly and was now watching her in silence.
Would something similar to a manga scene happen next?
Kazusa's heart began to race with these unfounded guesses, but she maintained her composure, revealing no hint of her inner turmoil.
She could feel his skin touching hers as he gently made contact with her cheek, but only lightly for a few seconds.
Kazusa's lips, which had been slightly parted, slowly closed. Her toes, wrapped in black stockings, curled tightly together, and a silent anger began to rise within her.
She slowly opened her eyes and grabbed Chisato's finger, which was poking her face, and bent it back.
"Argh—"
"Do you think this is fun?"
"I'm sorry! My finger is about to break, really!"
"Hmph!"
Kazusa released his finger and walked out silently.
Chisato quickly grabbed their bags and followed her out.
It would be too foolish to let her leave just like that.
"Sorry, Touma, I got held up in the office with some paperwork. It took longer than I expected."
"You don't need to explain what you were doing in the office."
"Since you waited for me this long, I thought I should at least explain."
"Stop being so self-important. I was just a bit sleepy and ended up dozing off at my desk. Your mistake was in playing a prank on someone who was asleep."
"Indeed, I apologize."
Chisato didn't press further on whether Kazusa had waited for him. He was just glad to know she had been waiting for him in the classroom.
Kazusa seemed quite displeased with Chisato's apology. She suddenly stopped, turned to glare at him, and extended her hand.
"Give me my bag."
Chisato shook his head.
"I want to talk to you."
"I don't have time."
"At least walk with me to the station. We can talk while we walk."
"I'm not interested."
"Do you dislike me, Touma?" Chisato's voice suddenly softened.
"…Yes, I do." Kazusa's fierce gaze lost some of its intensity and slightly shifted away.
"Do you find me troublesome?" he continued.
"Yes! So what?" Kazusa was getting impatient.
"Then it's fine. Since you already have such a low opinion of me, I have no reason to hold back. Your bag is with me. If you don't want me to keep it, you'd better follow me."
"Are you a child? How childish!"
"Say whatever you want~"
