章節 13: Chapter 13: The Hidden City

The road to the hidden city of Elandor was a treacherous one, winding through dense forests and steep mountains that seemed to close in around them as they traveled. Draven rode alongside Aria, his thoughts still reeling from the events in Valoria. The council meeting had been intense, with the kingdom's most powerful figures scrutinizing him, testing his resolve, and challenging his right to wield the Dragonheart. But he had held his own, proving that he was more than just a boy with a powerful relic—he was someone who could be trusted to protect it.

Now, they were on their way to Elandor, a city shrouded in mystery and magic, known only to a select few. It was a place where the Magi Council held sway, where the most powerful sorcerers and mages in the kingdom gathered to study, to teach, and to protect the ancient secrets of magic. Aria had insisted that Draven come with her, believing that the council could offer him the guidance he needed to fully understand the Dragonheart and its power.

As they rode through the narrow mountain pass, Draven couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the landscape around him. The mountains rose like jagged teeth against the sky, their peaks shrouded in mist. The air was crisp and cold, carrying with it the scent of pine and earth. It was a world apart from the bustling city of Valoria, a place that felt ancient, untouched by the passage of time.

"Elandor is not like any other city," Aria said, breaking the silence. "It's a place where magic is woven into the very fabric of the world. The council has protected its secrets for centuries, keeping it hidden from those who would seek to exploit its power."

Draven nodded, his curiosity piqued. "And they're willing to help me?"

Aria glanced at him, her expression thoughtful. "The council is cautious by nature. They've seen the dangers that power can bring, and they're not quick to trust outsiders. But they also understand the significance of the Dragonheart. If anyone can help you unlock its true potential, it's them."

Draven felt a surge of determination. He had come a long way since discovering the Dragonheart, but he knew that there was still so much more to learn. The power within him was growing, and with it came a responsibility that he was only beginning to comprehend.

As they rounded a bend in the pass, the city of Elandor came into view. Draven's breath caught in his throat as he took in the sight before him. The city was nestled in a deep valley, surrounded by towering mountains on all sides. Its buildings were made of stone, their roofs covered in green moss and ivy, blending seamlessly with the landscape. Tall spires rose from the city's center, their tips glowing with a soft, ethereal light.

But what struck Draven the most was the feeling of the place. The air was thick with magic, a palpable energy that hummed just beneath the surface. It was as if the city itself was alive, a living, breathing entity connected to the flow of magic in the world.

Aria led the way down the winding path that descended into the valley, and as they approached the city gates, Draven could see figures moving along the walls—guards clad in robes of deep blue, their faces hidden beneath hoods. The gates were carved with intricate symbols, glowing with a faint light that seemed to pulse in time with the energy of the city.

As they reached the gates, one of the guards stepped forward, raising a hand in greeting. "Lady Aria, welcome back to Elandor."

Aria inclined her head in acknowledgment. "Thank you. We seek an audience with the council."

The guard nodded, his gaze shifting to Draven. "And this is the one who holds the Dragonheart?"

Draven felt a momentary surge of unease under the guard's scrutiny, but he forced himself to stand tall. "Yes, I am."

The guard's eyes narrowed slightly, but he said nothing further, simply nodding and stepping aside to allow them entry. The gates swung open with a low creak, revealing the city beyond.

As they entered Elandor, Draven was struck by the sense of calm that permeated the city. The streets were lined with trees, their leaves a deep green that contrasted with the stone buildings. People moved about with a quiet purpose, their faces serene and focused. It was a place of study and contemplation, where the noise and chaos of the outside world seemed distant and unimportant.

Aria led him through the streets, heading toward the center of the city where the council's headquarters were located. The spires that Draven had seen from the mountains now loomed overhead, their surfaces covered in runes and symbols that glowed with a faint light.

They arrived at a large building with arched windows and tall, wooden doors carved with intricate designs. Aria pushed the doors open, revealing a spacious hall lined with bookshelves and filled with the soft glow of floating orbs of light. At the far end of the hall stood a group of figures, their robes marking them as members of the Magi Council.

As they approached, one of the figures stepped forward, a tall woman with silver hair and piercing blue eyes. She carried herself with a regal air, her gaze sharp and assessing as she took in Draven and Aria.

"Lady Aria," the woman said, her voice cool and measured. "It is good to see you again. And this must be the one who holds the Dragonheart."

Aria nodded. "Yes, this is Draven. He seeks the council's guidance."

The woman's gaze shifted to Draven, and he felt a chill run down his spine as her eyes seemed to pierce right through him. "The Dragonheart is a powerful relic, one that carries with it great responsibility. Are you prepared to bear that burden, Draven?"

Draven met her gaze, his voice steady. "I am."

The woman studied him for a long moment before nodding. "Very well. The council will see you."

She gestured for them to follow her, leading them through the hall and into a large chamber filled with more of the glowing orbs of light. The walls were lined with shelves filled with ancient tomes and scrolls, and at the center of the room stood a large, circular table.

The other council members took their seats around the table, and Draven and Aria were motioned to stand before them. The woman who had greeted them took her place at the head of the table, her gaze never leaving Draven.

"I am Elara, the High Magus of Elandor," she said, her voice carrying the weight of authority. "The Magi Council has long guarded the secrets of magic in this world, and the Dragonheart is among the most powerful of those secrets. You must understand, Draven, that the power you hold is not to be taken lightly."

Draven nodded, feeling the weight of her words. "I understand. That's why I'm here—to learn, to understand what the Dragonheart truly is."

Elara's expression softened slightly. "That is a wise approach. The Dragonheart is more than just a relic—it is a link to the ancient dragons, a conduit for their power. But it is also a test. Those who seek to wield its power must prove themselves worthy, or risk being consumed by it."

Draven felt a chill at her words, but he also felt a growing determination. He had faced tests before, and he knew that this was just another step in his journey.

"The council will guide you," Elara continued, "but you must be prepared to face the challenges ahead. There are forces in this world that would seek to take the Dragonheart for their own purposes, and you must be ready to defend it."

Draven nodded. "I will. I'm ready to learn, to do whatever it takes."

Elara studied him for a moment longer before nodding. "Very well. Your training will begin tomorrow. But know this, Draven—this will not be an easy path. The power of the Dragonheart is immense, but it is also dangerous. You must be vigilant, and you must be strong."

Draven met her gaze, his resolve firm. "I will be."

With that, the meeting was concluded, and Elara dismissed them. As they left the chamber, Aria placed a hand on Draven's shoulder, her expression approving.

"You did well, Draven," she said. "The council can be… difficult, but you handled yourself with confidence."

Draven smiled faintly. "Thank you. I just hope I'm ready for whatever comes next."

Aria's expression turned serious. "You are. But remember, you don't have to face this alone. The council is here to help, and so am I."

Draven nodded, feeling a sense of reassurance. The path ahead was uncertain, but he knew he had allies he could rely on.

As they settled into their quarters for the night, Draven couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation for the days to come. The hidden city of Elandor was a place of mystery and magic, and he was eager to learn all that it had to offer.

The journey of the Dragon King was far from over, and Draven knew that he would need every ounce of strength and wisdom to face the challenges that lay ahead. But with the power of the Dragonheart within him and the guidance of the Magi Council, he was ready to take the next step.

For he was Draven, the last of the Draconic Bloodline, and his destiny was only beginning to unfold.
