My meeting with Jane brought up some old memories about...her...which I wish to not recall nor repeat. I never want that to happen again! Therefore, I'll avoid Jane at school. I know I said I would talk to her and sit with her at lunch, but I was thinking in the moment! I mean, how can I not want to be friends with a girl with such an aura as hers...? I need to stop! The way my heart is beating is the same way it beat for...her...those years ago.
I shouldn't feel like this, no matter what, and it was my mistake back then for feeling this way in the first place. To avoid it happening again, I'll just avoid her. It's simple enough. It may sound mean, but it's truly for the best...or maybe I'm just being selfish again?

It's my first year being a teenager. It's not that bad. I just don't have friends, and it's kind of embarrassing...but whatever, I have Dolly!!! We have a new student in class this year; her name is Mary. But frankly, it doesn't concern me...or so I thought until she spoke to me today at school. I was reading The Diary of Anne Frank. I've always liked things based on people's personal experiences. It's interesting to me and always makes me feel grateful.
She approached me with a smirk. "Hey!!! I haven't spoken to ya yet! What are you reading?" She looked at the title of my book. "The Diary of Anne Frank? Haha! That's for old people, not really the bee's knees! You're interesting, aren't you?" I was shocked by the audacity of this girl...was she teasing me? I think she noticed my annoyed expression.
"Oh, don't worry! I meant it as a compliment! I'm Mary Taylor! What's your name??? Hey, you're like really, really pretty, by the way!!! It makes me feel a certain way!" That made me blush slightly...what an odd thing to say to someone you just met?
"I'm Victoria Payne," I said, but she slightly pouted. I think I might have accidentally came off as cold again.
"Well, Vita, come outside to recess with me, won't you???" Vita? That's Latin.
"Yeah!!! It's your new nickname...it's Latin for life!!!"
Well, I knew that. "I know that...but why Vita?"
"Because...I think you're gonna be a huge part of my life!!! Cuz I dig you!" she said, slightly teasingly.
She laughed. "Oh, Vita, you're like so square!!" Now that I know what square means...why would she use more slang to describe me as someone out of touch with slang?
"Fine...Mazzy, let's go to recess together."
"Haha! So you do have humor in you! Mazzy? I like it! What does it mean??" She asked me, very enthusiastically.
"I think it means precious pearl in Hebrew or something like that..."
She laughed and took my hand. We went to recess together.
That was my meeting with Mary. We had recess together, and it went well. I look forward to tomorrow with her...or, well, Monday. Today is a Friday.
