I could tell by the look on Liam’s face that my confession had caught him off guard.

And why wouldn’t it? I hadn't meant to tell anyone or confess to anyone at all that I was going to be leaving the pack as soon as high school ended. It’s not like there would be anyone trying to stop me from leaving.

On the contrary, the pack would probably be holding a party to celebrate my departure. But still, I hadn't planned on telling anyone. Just wanted to silently disappear into the night and never look back.

"Lily, what did you mean just now?” Liam asked; his brows furrowed as he seemed to come a bit closer to me across the stream. “What did you mean by you won’t be here much longer?”
