Chapter 29: Whispers of Love

Outside the hall, a vast expanse of yellow chrysanthemums bloomed, with a single white chrysanthemum growing in isolation among them. Lydia Moore's fingertips traced the image of the white flower on the clear glass window, and as she finished her last stroke, she heard someone call her name from the side entrance. She picked up her violin, her lips curving into a gentle, radiant smile as she stood up.

In a modestly sized classroom, two renowned professors from Sakura Academy sat on the left side. Dressed in a soft white school shirt with the Sakura emblem neatly pinned to his breast pocket, Julian Reed sat alongside them. His features were distinct and warm, with thick, dark lashes casting shadows under the sunlight. His slightly upturned lips seemed perpetually on the verge of a smile, making him a pleasure to behold.

Lydia Moore walked to the center of the classroom, politely bowing to them before positioning the violin on her shoulder. Her voice was soft as she introduced herself, "I will be playing Kreisler's *Liebesfreud*." Her tone was calm, without a trace of fear, her smile confident but not arrogant.

As soon as she spoke, Julian Reed, who had been focused on organizing his notes, looked up. His long fingers paused at the edge of the paper. A bright light flashed in his amber-like eyes, and his warm smile blossomed like the first gardenia of summer.

Sensing his gaze, Lydia Moore glanced at him and nodded slightly, their eyes meeting in a brief exchange.

With a steady breath, she placed the bow on the strings, and it glided naturally, fluidly, producing notes as clear and pleasant as morning sunlight streaming through dense foliage, or the crisp sound of a brook running through a forest. The professors closed their eyes, letting the music wash over them, feeling completely at ease.

Julian Reed, moved by her music, slowly closed his eyes. In his mind's eye, he saw cherry blossoms blooming in pale pink and white outside the springtime library. The blossoms floated gently through the air, their delicate fragrance lingering, as time seemed to both stop and speed by.

Lydia Moore played her violin quietly, her thoughts drifting back to a year ago. She chuckled softly to herself, her eyes filled with a clear, wistful longing. This piece had been the first she and Ethan Knight had ever practiced together. She thought she had buried her feelings for him deep within her heart, but she realized now that she had never really done so. No matter the time, her thoughts and affection for him could still easily stir within her both happiness and sorrow, just like the memories associated with *Liebesfreud*.

The late summer and early autumn of Qingli were the most beautiful seasons. The sky, rarely marred by dust, was a deep ocean blue, without a trace of clouds, clear as a green lake. A cobblestone path wound its way to the quaint-looking music classroom. The classroom was not large, but the bright windows and the vibrant greenery inside gave it a warm and simple charm.

Various instruments were neatly arranged around the classroom, with a brand-new piano at the center, its black and white keys gleaming.

The wooden classroom door creaked open, revealing a girl standing in the doorway, carrying a large bouquet of white lilies in her left arm and a light-colored violin case in her right. Her forehead glistened with sweat, as if she had walked a long way.

She set the violin down and swiftly found a light blue vase, carefully arranging the lilies before filling the vase with water and placing it on the windowsill where sunlight dappled the glass. She tilted her head slightly, admiring her work, before glancing at her watch—7:50 AM, ten minutes until eight.

"Ten minutes," Lydia Moore whispered, trying to steady her breathing, but the ticking of the clock only made her more nervous, her palms growing clammy. She took several deep breaths, to no avail. "Idiot, you're about to see Ethan Knight. Don't act like a fool." The smile she had practiced hundreds of times the night before vanished from her mind. Just thinking of the name that made her heart race left her feeling light-headed, as even the simplest act of breathing became a challenge.

Ethan Knight—the most outstanding boy she had ever met, from high school to now. From their chance encounter at the music store to the present, her gaze had always been drawn to him. He was like an unattainable dream, too beautiful and ethereal to touch, a secret she could only keep in her heart.

Since that first encounter, she had continued to pause, gazing up at the grand, palace-like mansion he lived in, her eyes now filled with hope, longing for just a fleeting glimpse of the prince who resided there.

When she started high school, she overheard some classmates mention a new student named Ethan Knight, who excelled academically, was incredibly handsome and cool, and had a talent for the piano. It wasn't until she was dragged to one of his school recitals that she realized the Ethan Knight they spoke of was indeed the same Ethan Knight she had met years ago—they had been accepted into the same high school.

It was just like the stories in every novel about a secret crush. From that moment on, Lydia Moore always found herself "accidentally" passing by his classroom. Even catching a glimpse of his desk was enough to make her happy for the entire day. She often snuck into his private practice room, struggling to stand on tiptoe to catch a glimpse of his handsome profile through a window as small as a chalkboard eraser. She loved watching him play basketball, his movements swift and stylish, loved seeing him walk in the sunlight, seemingly gathering all the light around him, making it impossible for anyone not to be captivated.

Gradually, she learned many things about Ethan Knight. For instance, his IQ was over 160, and even with minimal effort, he maintained the top rank in the school for three years. He was a piano prodigy, so skilled that even the most renowned musicians abroad were awestruck. He was known for his cold demeanor, and no one had ever seen him smile in three years. He was the object of many girls' affection, but he never cared, leaving a trail of broken hearts in his wake.

In short, anything related to Ethan Knight seemed shrouded in legend. From every angle, he was a shining miracle.
