*At night, in Natsuro's room.*
He had just finished his training for the day and was sitting at his desk, holding a pencil and sketching on a piece of paper.
He was planning his upcoming studies—not just his studies but also planning what he would need to give up. After all, the time he had left to grow was quite limited.
He quickly decided to pass on anything related to scientific research, as he didn't have the time for it. As for creating his own jutsu, Natsuro marked it as pending.
Creating a jutsu isn't easy. Although he now had the conditions necessary for creating his own jutsu after completing his study of shape transformation, there were still some issues.
Even with memories from his previous life, which made the process relatively easier for him compared to others, it didn't mean he could achieve it in one go. Besides, the power of the jutsu he might create was still uncertain.
Instead of developing jutsu with uncertain power, it would be better to first master the ones he was sure of. If the Fourth Shinobi World War ended perfectly and he had free time, he could then take his time to create his own jutsu.
For now, he would focus on mastering certain jutsu. He could try creating new jutsu if inspiration struck—like during moments of enlightenment—but otherwise, it wasn't worth the effort.
Next, he outlined his current jutsu learning plan. The few C-rank jutsu his father left him weren't difficult to learn—he had already mastered them. As for refining them, he decided to skip the Great Breakthrough jutsu. Even when fully condensed, it would only become something like an air cannon, so it was better to directly learn Vacuum Sphere in the future. Similarly, for Wind Cutter, it would be better to learn Vacuum Wave.
However, he circled the name of Gale Palm repeatedly. Although it was just a C-rank jutsu, it belonged to the category of Taijutsu-related jutsu. Unlike his Lightning Release body enhancement, which strengthened him internally, Gale Palm worked externally.
When used, it could wrap the body in wind to enhance the power of Taijutsu. It was currently quite practical and could even be combined with his Lightning Release enhancement. He decided to try simplifying the seals for this jutsu.
As for Lightning Release: Electromagnetic Murder, he basically ignored it. The power was weak, and its paralysis effect was unreliable due to low accuracy. While he could use it, he wasn't proficient with it.
Then there was the Rasengan—the iconic jutsu in the original series, used from the beginning all the way to the end, and a very practical jutsu.
However, Naruto's Rasengan was usually a non-elemental one.
Natsuro could also use the same non-elemental Rasengan as Naruto, but that alone wasn't enough.
He planned to replace the chakra with Wind-nature chakra. Of course, this wasn't the advanced nature transformation, as he hadn't learned that yet. It was just the basic nature conversion—simply converting the chakra into wind.
This shouldn't be too difficult. Wind's fluidity could directly mimic the flow of chakra, so replacing it shouldn't be too hard.
And what was the point of a Wind-nature Rasengan? He believed that even with just basic nature conversion, the inherent properties of wind would still be present, though not fully maximized.
So, a Wind-nature Rasengan would retain the power of a regular Rasengan while enhancing its cutting ability upon impact. Additionally, as his control improved and the Wind-nature chakra flowed faster, the cutting force would become stronger.
Most importantly, mastering the Wind-nature Rasengan would also help with future incorporation of Wind-nature into nature transformation, making it much easier.
He quickly put a checkmark next to the Wind-nature Rasengan—this was a must-learn.
As for a Lightning-nature Rasengan, he put a question mark next to it.
Unlike wind, the electric current of lightning would disperse in all directions in the air without a defined path. So, trying to forcibly utilize it in a Rasengan would be very difficult to control.
As Natsuro thought about it, he realized that the most suitable elements for a Rasengan were wind and water, due to their fluidity. But he didn't have the Water element, and the innate properties of water wouldn't add much power. The offensive capability of Wind-nature would far surpass that of Water-nature.
And what would happen if a Lightning-nature Rasengan succeeded? He considered that its power likely wouldn't match that of a Wind-nature Rasengan.
In fact, the only element that could directly match the power of a Wind-nature Rasengan was Fire. The explosive force of Fire-nature was similarly strong.
After some thought, he figured that a Lightning-nature Rasengan would mainly add a paralysis effect, and the success rate for that should be high. But its usefulness seemed limited; the conduction aspect of Lightning Release wasn't being utilized, and most importantly, the acceleration effect would be completely lost. (Note: The protagonist is not familiar with Boruto, and I probably won't write about Boruto either.)
After all, the Rasengan is condensed outside the body and then used for an attack. The acceleration property of lightning wouldn't be applicable unless it was thrown, but the Rasengan's power relies on constant rotation. If it were thrown, could that rotation be maintained? Even if it could, the impact force would dissipate significantly upon hitting the target, making it difficult to retain the original power.
Unlike Chidori, which uses the body to accelerate to a speed that's too fast for the naked eye to follow, thus catching opponents off guard.
If the learning difficulty was low, the paralysis effect might be worth trying, but incorporating Lightning-nature would definitely be difficult. It also had no commonality with Chidori in terms of learning. So, he ultimately crossed out the question mark and replaced it with an X.
With that, he felt his close-range jutsu were sufficient, but for long-range, he would have to make do with Wind Cutter for now and see if there were more suitable jutsu in the future.
That more or less covered his plans for ninjutsu. The last aspect was chakra nature transformation, and both Wind and Lightning were a must-learn.
However, how to learn them was now the question he needed to consider. Without a clear direction, practicing would be highly inefficient, making it only suitable for someone like Naruto, who could use Shadow Clones to cheat.
He didn't have that kind of hack, so he needed to find the right direction himself first.
Starting with Wind-nature chakra transformation, he was more familiar with this because it was Naruto's element, and it was relatively well-explained. The primary nature of Wind is cutting.
He recalled memories from his previous life. He hadn't seen an air blade, but he had seen a similar concept in videos, namely a water jet cutter—a tool that forms a knife-like edge at high speed.
However, water is a tangible substance, and achieving extreme speed with it is very difficult. But Wind-nature? Wind is much faster, and that's not all; sufficient pressure is also necessary. Just like how the sharper a knife is, the thinner its edge becomes, though a thin knife might not be very durable. Wind, however, doesn't break like a knife. The higher the pressure, the greater the cutting force.
Therefore, to learn Wind-nature transformation, one must start with compressing and increasing the flow speed of Wind-nature chakra.
As for Lightning-nature, he found it a bit tricky. While he knew about its conduction and acceleration properties, as well as the paralysis effect, he wasn't quite sure how to begin practicing it.
