章節 7: Not a Clown

"Graah!"

Bear growled in pain when it was shot yet again, this time on the back of its neck, barely missing its spine.

It turned around, its eyes fixed on Felix's with unfiltered hatred.

"Fuck you." Felix pressed the trigger again, feeling his shoulder shake from the recoil, but he managed to keep it slightly stable.

The bullet flew out of the muzzle, hitting the bear in its cheekbones.

It released yet another guttural growl, trying to run away from Felix and the threat to its life. But its legs gave out, causing its giant body to crumble on the floor.

Felix sighed in relief.

The bear was still clearly alive, but it won't be for long. With such grievous wounds and no strength in its legs, it was sure to die. A slow and painful death.

"You deserve it," Felix murmured coldly, hiding the gun behind his waist.

He glanced at the inspector, hoping he was still alive. But alas, the man was dead.

His hands were pressing a cloth on his wound to stop the bleeding, but the wound was too great for a mere human to survive.

"Rest in peace." Felix gently pressed his hand on the inspector's face and closed his eyes, before casually placing his hand inside the dead man's pocket and stealing the handgun's magazines.

He collected a few more handguns and quickly fled away before other townspeople filled this area up.

Since most people had fled from fear, he was easily able to nab a few guns.

***

Half an hour ago.

In the building, 5th floor.

"Hey, what's going on out here? Who is this man, Rosy?" A gruff voice came from the house, causing Kael and Rosy to freeze.

Soon, a dark-skinned man appeared in the hallways, standing at the height of 6'5 and with a very muscular buff body.

"Rosy?" he asked again.

"O-Oh, dear, what happened?" Rosy quickly turned around and said, trying her best to sound normal.

"Who are they?" he glanced unfriendly at the handsome man.

"Oh him? He is Kael, he lives on the 2nd floor." She said, but her husband's gaze frosted even more, "And, he is a friend of Arthur."

The man calmed down, glancing at Kael in suspicion, "Him? Arthur?"

"Oh yeah, that little twerp loves my magic show," Kael spoke, covering his emotions behind a mask as he pulled out something from his pocket.

From his pocket, Kael had pulled out a red handkerchief. And with a gentle swipe of his hand, the handkerchief popped into beautiful red-colored confetti.

"Oh." the tall man touched the burst of paper, amused, "So you are a clown?"

Kael stared back, unamused, "I am a magician, sir."

"Same thing." the man scoffed waving Kael away, "Anyway Art is scared due to the earthquake, come again later for your circus show."

"It's a magic show, Carl," Kael stressed.

"Hubby, it's fine, he is just protective of his talents!" Rosy quickly intervened, looking at the meat-headed Carl, "Art is still scared, no? We should go console him instead."

Carl glanced at his wife and scoffed, turning around and disappearing into the house.

Kael glared at his retreating back, cursing him in his mind. If it wasn't for Rosy, he knew he would have lost his cool.

"Let's go, Kael." Cathy patted his shoulder, sighing.

"Wait." Kael shook his head and glanced into the house, noticing Carl sitting on the couch with a little boy, aged around 8 years.

He then provocatively caught Rosy by her waist, pulling her towards him. He pressed his lips onto hers, his hands in her hair as he kissed her right outside her house.

Rosy tried to push him away but he held her tight, only letting her go when he felt breathless.

"How would he feel when he finds out a clown is fucking his wife in front of his own house, huh?" Kael scoffed dryly and turned around, leaving Rosy with red cheeks and weak knees.

"Let's go." Kael glanced at Cathy and began to climb down the stairs.

Soon, the two sat on the couch, staring at each other. Cathy wanted to scold Kael for being so irresponsible, but she didn't want him to burst.

On the other hand, Kael felt the urge to apologize to her as he knew she was only looking out for him, but his male ego came in between, causing them to get locked in a staring contest with none of them backing down.

But soon after some time, the contest was broken when the door was pulled open.

A man took off his shoes and entered the house.

The man stood at the height of 6'1, his raven hair fell over his face with messy unkempt charm while his blue eyes were sharp, devoid of compassion. A black mask covered his mouth, and an oversized black hoodie hugged his frame.

"What the hell!?" Cathy screamed, jumping up from the couch and running towards the man.

On the sleeves of his hoodie, were patches of crimson blood. It might not be obvious to everyone, but to someone as observant as Cathy, it appeared bright as day.

"What happened to you, Felix?! Are you okay!? Did you get hurt?!" she fired her questions like a machine gun.

"Yes. No." Felix ignored her first question and answered the next two briefly.

"Give a fucking explanation, bro." Kael walked towards him slowly, his jaws tightened as if he was holding back from appearing too worried.

Felix glanced at Kael and shook his head.

He reached to his waist, pulling out an object which caused Cathy and Kael's eyes to widen.

"What the hell?! Where did you get that from?!" Kael asked.

"Police."

"And how?!" Cathy asked.

"Uhh… long story." Felix scratched his head, but he felt their stares on his sleeves, so he sighed.

"It's not mine." he added.

"That doesn't make it any better, Felix!" Kael grabbed his brother's shoulder, rattling him like a ragdoll, "Fuck you didn't do anything illegal right?!"

Felix paused. Is stealing from a corpse illegal? But then again, the inspector had permitted him to use the handgun before he died, right?

But then what about the other magazines and pistols he collected?

"No." Felix replied after a brief thought, 'Dead man tells no tales. And I apologized to them so it's fine.'

Kael sighed in relief. His brother was known to be a man who never lied, so it wasn't hard to believe his words.

"Tell us everything. Now." Cathy pinned her eyes on the blood stain.

Felix sighed, "Fine."
