章節 180: Protect Them

I scoffed at Gabriel's words as I opened my eyes and sat up. My head almost grazed the top of the cage, but that didn't bother me. At least I wasn't in a closed off box or something. I could see what was going on around me and react accordingly.

'Do you really think I will let that happen?' I asked, my voice calm and collected. I was proud to hear the cold note to my words. I was no longer a little mouse hiding away from everyone and letting myself be abused in unspeakable ways. 

No. The moment I discovered I was pregnant, I began planning. I was no longer going to be pushed around, even if it didn't seem like I was. 

Nothing and no one was more important than the life growing inside of me. I would break all the commandments if it meant keeping my child safe. 

Wait…

'Babies?' I grunted. 'Are you sure?'

'No, I'm not,' grunted Gabriel. 'I have registered twelve heartbeats, but I don't know how many that translates into.'
