"Damien, that man… He's scary. He's staring at me," Juliet said in a shaky voice behind me.
I turned around and took a glance. Juliet was hiding behind Damien.
I let out a sigh of relief. That psycho wasn't staring at me but at Juliet.
It looked like he was staring angrily at Juliet but remained silent.
"This is Dexter from an orphanage nearby. He once snatched someone's purse, but I caught him. I don't think he's a bad guy," A policeman spoke for him.
I shook my head hard. "No. He's a bad guy. He's the killer!"
The police let go of Dexter.
Dexter pathetically got up from the ground. Since his legs were too long, his pants couldn't cover his ankles.
I saw a terrifying scar on his calf. It looked like a burn mark from being electrocuted.
I was afraid that he would continue with the killing. Even though I was scared, I still followed him.
He walked to Juliet's side and spoke with a hoarse voice.
It was the same scratchy voice that sounded damaged.
"It was you…
Juliet looked at the man in fear, and her body was trembling.
I also looked at Dexter in shock. Did he know Juliet lured me to him on purpose?
"Mr. Coleman, if you have any news about Sophia, please let us know as soon as possible. We're sorry for disturbing you this late."
The lead policeman spoke with an apologetic tone, "I'm Zion Landon, and here's my contact."
Damien scoffed before taking Zion's name card and left with Juliet.
After seeing Damien was gone, Zion said, "I want you to investigate Damien Coleman and Juliet Turner. Damien's relationship with Sophia isn't that simple."
"Officer Landon, how could you tell?"
"Would you know for certain that your sister has a mole on her chest or a birthmark on her pelvic area?"
"How perverted." The young policeman was so shocked that he couldn't close his mouth.
"He looks like a decent person, but he's anything but decent."
"So, get on with the investigation!"
I didn't return with Damien. I didn't want to see him with Juliet anymore.
I followed Dexter and watched him leave the scene while limping. I wanted to find my body.
He dragged his injured leg as he limped his way to an abandoned orphanage. Then, he climbed inside effortlessly.
I followed him in and looked around as my breath quickened.
It was here.
This was where I died!
It was him who brought me here to kill me.
This was the real crime scene of the serial killing case.
I tailed Dexter closely to see if I could find my body.
However, he didn't go to where he killed people. Instead, he entered an abandoned hostel. He went into a small room and curled up in a corner.
The room was messy and filled with trash.
However, it was obvious that he most likely spent his life here.
This was an abandoned orphanage. I wandered around for a long time, but I couldn't find the basement where he killed me and the others.
No wonder the police couldn't find it after investigating for so long.
Suddenly, the gates of the orphanage were rammed open by a car.
Damien cautiously walked out to see who the uninvited guests were.
Confused, I looked at the people getting out of the car.
It actually was Dexter. Juliet, who was shaking, was in the car as well.
"That's him. I don't know if he's the killer, but he's the one who was following me for the past few days."
Juliet didn't tell the police about Dexter. Instead, she only told Damien.
Damien didn't call the police either. He brought his men over to teach Dexter a lesson.
Dexter wanted to run, but Damien's buddies had already stopped him. They hit Dexter with a bat.
"How dare a beggar like you spy on our precious Juliet?"
"Heh! So, he's the one who didn't care about Sophia? He sure has high standards for a beggar."
Dexter curled up on the ground and protected his head. It was clear that he was often beaten up.
Damien walked to Dexter before crouching in front of the latter and showing a picture of me. "Have you seen this woman before?"
At that moment, I wondered if he actually had a slight suspicion that I was already dead.
Dexter stared at my photo, and his eyes turned red. He seemed agitated.
"Honestly, Sophia has a great body. There's nothing to lose if I were to sleep with her. If I were the one she was bothering, I would've done it with her as well."
"When we were at Nocturnal last time, her whole body was wet from the rain. She really has a nice figure."
"Damien, you sure took advantage of the situation and almost stripped her bare."
"Haha…"
Damien's rich friends who tagged along started voicing out their dirty thoughts.
Since Damien looked down on me, they also looked down on me.
Damien had always thought I was cheap and disgusting, so these people never learned to respect me.
I looked at their disgusting faces with hatred and rushed toward them. I wanted nothing more than to tear them to pieces.
I clenched my fist and swung toward them, but it was useless.
Bang!
Someone punched Jack, and he fell to the ground hard.
Shocked, I froze in place and looked at the person who pounced on Jack and was punching nonstop.
It was actually Dexter.
It was the psycho who killed me.
"Damn it! Is he crazy? Get him off immediately!" the people surrounding Jack exclaimed in shock. They stepped forward to stop the punching.
However, Dexter was like a beast that suddenly went berserk. No matter how hard the people around him hit him, Dexter still wouldn't stop beating up Jack.
His eyes were red like a vampire's while he punched violently.
"You… touched her… should die…" Dexter's voice was hoarse as he cried.
However, no one could clearly hear what he was saying.
Under the moonlight, Dexter's face was full of blood. He was like a wild beast that went out of control, and anyone would be terrified of him.
In the end, Damien had to step in to knock out Dexter with a stick. Damien frowned and cursed.
"Call the police. They will get to the bottom of this," he said solemnly.
Jack had fainted from the beating. His face was full of blood, and it was an unbearable sight.
I stood in place, numbly looking at the miserable Jack. I smiled helplessly.
Could this be counted as karma?
Two months ago, Jack called me using Damien's phone.
He told me that Damien was in a bad mood and had drunk a lot.
He also said that Damien wouldn't stop calling my name and told me to go pick Damien up.
It was raining badly that day. I didn't have a car, nor could I get a ride. The wind was howling, and I couldn't even get my umbrella to open.
Since Jack said Damien was missing me, I ran to the club in the rain like an idiot.
However, when I was soaking wet and miserably opened the door to a private room, I saw them mocking and laughing at me.
"Haha! It's raining so badly out there, and she still came!:"
"You were spot on, Damien. Fine, you win! Haha!"
Damien didn't drink that much at all. They were just playing a cruel game.
"Damien, that woman sure is a bitch. Could she really do anything just to marry you?" Jack laughed mockingly.
"Let her sleep with me. Tell her that if she sleeps with me, then you'll marry her. Let's see if she'll agree to it."
Everyone was laughing in the private room.
They were looking at me like they were looking at a cheap product. They were disgusting and full of lust.
I could never forget their vile faces.
"Did you tell my mom that I slept with you? Did you make her force me to marry you?" Damien leaned on the couch and looked at me teasingly.
"Sophia, you sure gave up your dignity just to marry me. Are you that cheap?"
My whole body was shivering as I stood at the entrance. My eyes teared up, and I said, "If you're fine, I'll take my leave now."
I turned around and wanted to leave, but Jack suddenly pinned me against the door.
His hands were all over me. It was obvious that he was picking on me on purpose.
My body was shaking as I looked at Damien for help. "Let me go! Don't touch me!"
I cried and struggled as much as I could, but Damien didn't care about me at all.
He was treating me as a joke like everyone else. He was admiring how miserable I looked.
Since Damien didn't care, Jack became more bold.
He pinned me on the couch and tore off my clothes.
The more I struggled, those people got more excited.
They laughed and teased. They cheered for Jack to do more.
I cried and yelled for Damien, begging him to save me. However, the gaze he had on me was suffocating.
