章節 6: Chapter 5: Training/Train to Busan(Part 1)

Two-Month Training Arc for Alex in the Tower of Trials

Foundation Building

Alex begins his intense training regimen with a focus on establishing a solid foundation of physical fitness and basic survival skills. His daily routine consists of 9-10 hours in the Training Room, leaving him thoroughly exhausted for the rest of the day. As a result, he finds himself sleeping through classes, spending less time with friends and family, and sneaking into the Tower of Trials at night while everyone else is asleep.

Alex's training program starts with a rigorous combination of cardio and strength training to enhance his stamina, endurance, and overall physical condition. His regimen includes running, obstacle courses, and weightlifting to build both strength and agility.

At the start of the basic foundation building training, he thought he was going to die. But what saved him was one notable feature of the training area: its healing power. Whenever Alex rests at the designated spot, his body heals rapidly, allowing him to recover to optimal condition within just five minutes. This remarkable aspect of the Training Room has enabled Alex to train continuously for over two months without the usual constraints of physical fatigue.

In terms of weapon proficiency, Alex receives guidance from virtual instructors to learn the fundamentals of firearm handling and marksmanship. He begins with pistols and gradually progresses to rifles, focusing on accuracy, reloading under pressure, and various shooting drills. His training also involves practicing shooting from different positions, handling multiple targets, and adapting to diverse environmental conditions such as low light and confined spaces.

For combat skills, Alex engages in simulated combat scenarios where he practices close-quarters combat techniques. This includes hand-to-hand combat, melee weapon usage, and defensive maneuvers specifically designed to counter zombie attacks.

In tactical maneuvers, Alex learns essential strategies such as cover and concealment, as well as methods for engaging and evading zombies effectively. His training emphasizes the importance of using the environment to his advantage and making split-second tactical decisions.

By the end of the two-month period, Alex recognizes that there is still much to improve and many additional skills he could learn. However, the training he has completed so far is sufficient to tackle the challenges of the first floor of the Tower of Trials.

How ever his starter funds which was provided by the tower a total of 200 tower coins has been used up.

While Alex has made significant progress in weapon training, endurance, and tactical maneuvers—skills he deems crucial for his survival—he has neglected his academic studies during this period. However, given that Alex hails from a world five years more advanced than this one and has already graduated, he is confident that he can easily pass high school-level exams if needed. This advanced background allows him to focus on his survival training with the reassurance that his academic knowledge is not a concern.

Now it was finally time to tackle the Tower's first floor. Alex had spent weeks honing his skills; he had worked tirelessly, sharpening his senses and conditioning his body.

Alex navigated swiftly through the maze-like corridors of the tower. When he finally reached the entrance of the teleporter, he took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves.

"It's time to start," he muttered to himself, his voice barely above a whisper.

As the teleporter activated, a whirl of lights and colors enveloped him, and he felt a strange, disorienting sensation, as if reality itself was twisting around him. Moments later, the world solidified again, and he found himself standing inside a train. The gentle hum of the passengers filled the space.

Before Alex could fully acclimate to his surroundings, a sudden flash of light drew his attention. A blue screen materialized in front of him. The text on the screen provided information about his mission.

[Welcome to the 1st Floor of the Tower of Trials]

[Mission: Survive the zombie apocalypse and reach Busan]

[Note: The more people you save, and the more you kill, the higher your rating]

As soon as the information processed, the blue screen flickered and then vanished.

The train continued its journey toward Busan, but he knew how messed up the situation was going to be.

"Since I'm boarding the train, the outbreak will start any moment now," Alex thought. As Alex listened to the chatter and commotion around him, he realized he could understand every word being spoken, even though it seemed like they were communicating in a language he didn't know. It was as if the train's environment was equipped with an advanced translation system, allowing him to comprehend every conversation and piece of writing around him. The advertisements and signs inside the train, once foreign and unintelligible, were now crystal clear.

"There is no time for distraction," Alex said, slapping both his cheeks with his hands.

"What if I can prevent the passengers from getting infected in the first place? If only I could find out where the infected are coming from," he mused. He needed to find out where the infected were going to board the train and stop it before it was too late.

He quickly got up from his seat. His eyes scanned the compartment, noticing nothing out of the ordinary. He moved swiftly but cautiously towards the next compartment. The next compartments he checked were relatively calm. Finally, after exiting that compartment, he found himself outside a restroom where Ma Dong-seok was standing. Alex recognized him instantly. He immediately knew he was close. But as he continued to the next 2-3 compartments, suddenly, he was jolted by a cacophony of loud screeching and panicked screams from the other compartments. Chaos erupted. He saw passengers running frantically, their faces masks of sheer terror. Alex knew in his gut that he was too late to prevent the outbreak from escalating. He saw people stumbling, some trying to help others, while others were simply trying to escape. The infected were emerging, their grotesque forms becoming increasingly visible through the compartments.
