Sleep eludes me. I'd been able to nap a bit, but the couch is too small for my frame and for all the hospital has done to make the rooms as welcoming as possible, they can't change that some furniture is just shit to sleep on.

It's a weird hour, 3:30 am and Ella has finally managed to fall asleep and get some rest, the exhaustion finally getting to her.

I think neither of us realized how many people cared and worried about her in this hospital. She's been getting visitors all night.

Co-workers, nurses, guards, they all walk by and check the viewing window. Others crack open the door to check on her and her vitals.

It isn't just them, though—patients come by too, some crying for her, some praying. She is so loved, and it really puts into perspective how much I was lacking as a partner.
