"Thank you for your patronage. With a little discount, that'll be thirty thousand ryo."
The plump owner of the barbecue restaurant smiled and held out his hand, looking at the bewildered Shibi.
What's going on?
How did one meal cost thirty thousand ryo?
That's more than the bounty for a C-rank mission!
He glanced over at Satoru, whose stomach was distended like a balloon as he lay on a cushion, contentedly resting. Nearby, a mountain of plates was piled high.
Anko and Rin snickered quietly as if they had anticipated this.
Is this even a human's appetite? Does the entire Hyuga clan eat like this?
Shibi wanted to ask Satoru if you possibly switched at birth with a member of the Akimichi clan.
The words formed in his mind but were swallowed back down. Instead, he reluctantly pulled out his wallet to pay.
"If the money isn't enough, I can cover the rest," Rin offered, feeling embarrassed.
"No! I have enough," Shibi insisted firmly, pulling out a stack of crisp bills and slamming them onto the table. There was no way he would let his students pay—this was his last shred of dignity!
Ah, my heart bleeds...
"Come again soon!" the owner called out cheerfully from the door.
As soon as they stepped outside the barbecue restaurant, Shibi immediately claimed he had to leave on a mission, fearing that staying longer would only lead to further embarrassment.
"That instructor is pretty interesting, isn't he? Not quite what I expected," Rin remarked, shrugging.
"He is interesting. I thought he'd be really hard to get along with, but..." Anko said, laughing, completely forgetting how she had struggled in the swarm of insects earlier.
Satoru contentedly patted his bloated stomach. It wasn't just that he wanted to get a free meal; feeding both his Byakugan and his life energy field required a lot of food. Additionally, consuming large amounts of food helped him enhance his physical abilities.
"I think our instructor might have a bit of... social anxiety," Satoru said quietly, clicking his tongue.
"Social anxiety?" Anko repeated, puzzled. It was the first time she'd heard the term.
"Yeah, it means he's not very good at socializing. But then again, most of the Aburame clan members are like that," Satoru explained.
Anko recalled Shibi's tightly wrapped appearance, with only a tiny part of his face exposed, as if he was afraid of being noticed. She realized that "social anxiety" seemed like a fitting description.
Satoru thought about their future missions. It's going to be interesting, having a super strong yet socially awkward instructor.

At the Hokage's office, a knock came at the door.
"Come in."
Sarutobi Hiruzen, buried in paperwork, looked up to see Shibi entering, looking a bit downcast.
"Shibi, how are your new team members? Are you satisfied with them?" Hiruzen asked.
"They are very talented, but I'm not sure if I can teach them well," Shibi admitted.
"Don't underestimate yourself, Shibi. You're known as a versatile Jonin in the village," Hiruzen replied with a smile.
Shibi shook his head, sighing. "Lord Hokage, you know I'm called that because I prefer working alone rather than in a team. Teaching students is a challenge for me."
Hiruzen put down his work and sat upright, his expression serious. "Shibi, a ninja's strength comes from teamwork. Individual power has its limits. Your team is still finding their path, and only a versatile Jonin like you can guide them. This will be a valuable growth experience for both you and the team."
"Is that so? You always have a way with words, Lord Hokage," Shibi acknowledged, nodding.
"Now, report on their performance," Hiruzen instructed.
Shibi thought of Satoru, who had swiftly and cleanly eliminated his bug clone, and chuckled. "That Hyuga kid with the double bloodline is quite interesting. His appetite is also extraordinary. He..."

"Hey, Satoru, is this really what you meant by post-graduation training?"
Anko was poking at a clogged drain with a stick, covering her nose with a towel to block the stench.
"Well, look on the bright side. This builds our willpower," Satoru replied, sweeping up garbage nearby.
"So clearing old ladies' drains is training too?" Anko retorted.
Uh...
Anko sighed. Their recent missions had been trivial tasks like finding lost pets or unclogging drains. She began to miss her days at the academy. At least there, the tasks weren't this dirty and tiresome.
Why did I listen to Satoru and graduate early? Anko thought, gnashing her teeth in regret.
Satoru had no complaints. Completing D-rank missions was necessary to qualify for higher-ranked missions. However, he strongly suspected that Shibi was assigning these tasks as a form of petty revenge.
What a petty Jonin!
His daily training hadn't suffered, though. In the secluded forest where he usually trained, a shadow clone was diligently working to make up for lost time.
He had learned the Shadow Clone Technique from Rin. For her, a B-rank training jutsu wasn't particularly valuable.
After spending some time mastering it, Satoru was able to balance training and mission work.
The looming threat of the Third Shinobi War and the curse seal on his forehead constantly spurred him on. Without strength, he would be at the mercy of others. The peaceful life at the academy didn't suit him. He only felt secure by continually progressing.
The clan's attitude towards him was ambivalent. Regardless, being the first Hyuga in history to have two bloodlines drew a lot of attention. From what he understood, the pressure from the Hokage's side was what allowed him to live peacefully within the clan.
If external help couldn't remove the curse seal, then the only other option was through research. Bringing Anko into the team was a strategic move to connect with Orochimaru. In the original series, Anko became Orochimaru's disciple.
"I can't wait to start real missions," Rin's voice pulled Satoru back to the present. He looked up to see her stretching, a look of anticipation on her face.
"Why the rush?" Satoru asked.
Rin's dark eyes sparkled with excitement. "The clan elders said that the Sharingan can only awaken in life-and-death situations. I can't wait to gain that power."
You're too intense, Satoru thought, his mouth twitching slightly.
