章節 3: Chapter 2

Tatsuya arrived at the SHIELD headquarters, feeling a mix of curiosity and anticipation. The bustling environment was immediately evident—agents moved with purpose, the rhythmic clacking of keyboards filled the air, and conversations hummed over phone lines. He took in the scene with a relaxed demeanor. "Everyone's working hard," he observed, his tone languid yet appreciative, a hint of arrogance in his voice.

"Excuse me? Are you the new guy?" an agent approached him, his expression both welcoming and inquisitive. He was a tall man with sharp eyes and a confident stride, his SHIELD badge gleaming on his belt.

"Yeah, that's me," Tatsuya replied, offering a slight nod.

"Follow me. I'll show you to your work area."

As they walked through the labyrinthine corridors, Tatsuya couldn't help but ask, "If you don't mind me asking, what is this organization about?"

The agent glanced at him and smiled, his eyes reflecting a mixture of pride and duty. "We protect global security by combating various threats—from terrorism and criminal organizations to superhuman and extraterrestrial dangers," he explained, his tone professional yet approachable. "We gather intelligence, conduct covert operations, and work closely with other law enforcement agencies to maintain peace and stability."

Tatsuya raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Heh, this organization is impressive. Did you also say extraterrestrial? Are there really aliens?" His tone carried a hint of skepticism as if daring the agent to convince him.

The agent chuckled softly, a hint of amusement in his voice. "That's what it says in our handbook, but I haven't seen one yet."

"I see," Tatsuya murmured, still processing the scope of SHIELD's operations.

They arrived at the Tech Ops room, a hive of activity where agents were engrossed in monitoring screens and analyzing data. Rows of computer terminals displayed real-time surveillance feeds and tactical maps. The air was thick with the scent of coffee, a testament to the long hours and late nights spent there. The soft hum of electronics and the quiet murmur of focused conversations created a charged atmosphere.

"This is where you'll be working," the agent said, gesturing to the room. "This is the Operations Center."

Tatsuya surveyed the room, nodding thoughtfully. "I see. I'm the guy in the chair, huh? Though I'm more of a field type of guy."

The agent smiled, his eyes showing a spark of understanding. "I'll keep that in mind. We can always use versatile team members."

Realizing they hadn't introduced themselves, Tatsuya extended his hand. "I never caught your name. I'm Tatsuya Kadoya."

"Phil Coulson," the agent replied, shaking his hand firmly. His grip was steady, and his expression sincere, reflecting the calm authority of someone who had seen his fair share of action.

"Well, Phil, I better start working. Call me if you need an extra pair of hands," Tatsuya said, a confident smirk playing on his lips.

Phil nodded, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Will do, Tatsuya. Welcome aboard."

As Phil left, Tatsuya sat down at his designated station, the glow of multiple monitors casting a blue hue on his face. Access to SHIELD's extensive database was a goldmine, and he dove into his research, eager to learn everything he could about this world and the threats SHIELD faced. The soft clicking of his keyboard soon joined the room's symphony, as Tatsuya immersed himself in the wealth of information at his fingertips.

After some time, Tatsuya immersed himself in an extensive review of information available on the internet and within SHIELD's database. At first glance, this world appeared normal—remarkably similar to his own. However, subtle differences began to surface, particularly in the realm of technology. Here, advancements were slightly ahead, a testament to Stark Industries' innovations even before the public rise of Iron Man.

"Stark Industries seems to have already made significant strides in technology," Tatsuya observed aloud, scrolling through reports and technical specifications. "Their advancements in energy sources and materials science are noteworthy. It appears they were already shaping the technological landscape of this world."

His curiosity deepened as he delved into historical records detailing the emergence of figures like Captain America, a World War II super soldier. "This Captain America... a prototype for enhanced human capabilities," Tatsuya murmured to himself, his interest piqued. "Similar to the Kaizo Ningen in my world, but a different path."

As he continued his research, Tatsuya uncovered the early histories of covert organizations like SHIELD, tracing their roots back to post-war intelligence efforts and the Cold War era. He pieced together a timeline that included the covert struggles against emerging threats and the development of advanced technologies far ahead of their time.

Despite the outward normalcy, Tatsuya harbored a nagging sense that this world held deeper secrets and unexpected challenges. "I've combed through everything available, but there's no trace of those bastards. Are they hiding, or have they not yet made their move? Either way, they'll reveal themselves sooner or later," he muttered to himself, resolve hardening.

His eyes flicked across the screen, absorbing data with a sharp, analytical mind. The glow of the monitors cast a cold, blue light over his face, emphasizing his intense focus. Leaning back, he stretched his arms above his head, a frown creasing his forehead.

The Operations Center hummed around him, a backdrop to the diligent efforts of everyone present. Agents conferred in hushed tones, the rhythm of keyboards and shuffle of paper creating a productive symphony. The air carried a faint scent of coffee and ozone, an oddly invigorating mix for Tatsuya.

Returning to his screens, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was overlooking something crucial—a piece of the puzzle essential to understanding this world's hidden threats. "They will surface," he asserted quietly, as if reassuring himself. "And when they do, I'll be ready."

With a deep breath, Tatsuya refocused on his task, delving even deeper into the digital archives. Each fragment of information brought him closer to unraveling the mysteries of this unfamiliar realm and preparing for the adversaries he sought.

A few days had passed, and Tatsuya found himself settling into the modest SHIELD living quarters. The room, though functional, felt sparse with only a bed and a small table tucked into a corner. "I need to get my own place," he muttered irritably to himself, feeling cramped by the simplicity of his current accommodations.

He rose from the bed and quickly changed into his preferred attire—a sleek black linen jacket with a striking red collar shirt underneath, complemented by comfortable black pants that allowed for ease of movement. Unlike the formal suits favored by SHIELD agents, Tatsuya preferred the practicality and style of his own clothing, which exuded a blend of urban sophistication and readiness for action.

Glancing over at the small table, he spotted his cherished possession: a rectangular polaroid camera with a distinctive magenta hue. "Can't leave without this," he remarked with a faint smile, picking it up. The camera was more than a tool for him; it was a means of capturing memories and documenting his journey across unfamiliar worlds. The photos it produced often bore distortions and unexpected overlays, a testament to his status as a visitor in this realm.

As he opened the door, he was met with the unexpected sight of Phil Coulson standing outside, patiently waiting for him. Coulson, dressed in his usual SHIELD attire, exuded an air of calm authority amidst the bustling activities of the organization's headquarters.

"How long have you been standing there?" Tatsuya inquired, his curiosity piqued by Coulson's silent vigil.

"Not long," Coulson replied evenly, his expression unreadable behind his trademark sunglasses.

"Then, do you need something from me?" Tatsuya prompted, his tone curious yet receptive to the unexpected interruption.

"You mentioned wanting field work. I could use an extra pair of hands," Coulson explained, his voice steady and businesslike.

A smile spread across Tatsuya's face, reflecting his eagerness for action. "Then what are we waiting for?"

"Let's go," Coulson said with a nod, gesturing for Tatsuya to follow as they embarked on their next mission together, the hum of SHIELD's operational hub fading into the background as they stepped into the corridors of opportunity and uncertainty.

As Tatsuya and Coulson navigated through the bustling corridors of SHIELD's headquarters, Coulson briefed him on their upcoming mission with a sense of cautious optimism.

"We're heading to Stark Industries," Coulson began, his voice steady and measured. "Tony Stark, the brilliant mind behind Stark Industries, has recently caught our attention. His technological advancements could be invaluable to SHIELD."

Tatsuya nodded thoughtfully, already familiar with Stark's reputation. "Stark Industries is renowned for its innovations," he remarked, recalling details he had meticulously gathered from SHIELD's database. "Tony Stark's prowess is impressive, but I'm curious to see what we can offer him."

Coulson raised an eyebrow, sensing a hint of arrogance in Tatsuya's tone. "You seem confident," he noted, maintaining his professional demeanor. "Stark's recent activities have raised concerns, and we need to ensure our interests align."

Tatsuya glanced at Coulson, his expression hinting at self-assuredness. "Pepper Potts, Stark's right-hand, holds the keys to understanding their operations," he added, almost as if stating a well-known fact. "Our insights could prove invaluable in guiding Stark Industries forward."

Coulson nodded, recognizing Tatsuya's expertise but wary of his confidence. "Our objective is to assess the situation and propose collaboration," he reminded Tatsuya firmly. "Let's ensure our approach is respectful and productive."

"Of course," Tatsuya replied smoothly, his tone indicating readiness to engage but not fully conceding his confidence. "I'll focus on gathering the necessary intelligence to facilitate our discussions."

As they approached the SHIELD transport, Coulson and Tatsuya exchanged a nod, each knowing the stakes of their mission to Stark Industries and the delicate balance of diplomacy and strategy they would need to navigate.
