A cupboard beneath the staircase in Dursley's house, number 4 Privet drive in Little
Whining, had become home to Harry, Harriet Potter, her name was. It had a bed above some
boxes for her clothes, and a wall mount fan.The only decor it had were the switchboards and
the wires.
She couldn't be more grateful for the door it had, for she could herself away in the little world
of hers.
The clock had just struck 12, it was her eleventh birthday. She was dressed in the old
rags she had received from Dudley, the t-shirts and the pants that didn't fit him anymore
were thrown in her way. They, too, hung low on her skinny body. She tossed and turned
around in her little bed, finding her room a little too suffocating than usual.
She had never been a part of the Dursley's party, but from the tiny room of hers, she always
heard the commotion, the greetings, the oh so grandness of it all, she had heard it. Today too,
Aunt Petunia had given her a piece of bread, with disgust lingering on her face, with some
leftovers from their dinner that day. That was her share of food everyday. She ate it without
any complaints and washed her plates before returning back to her room. And now here she
was, struggling to sleep.
She pulled out one of her boxes and took out a book she had. A plastic name sticker on the
book read Dudley's name and it was all dusty and worn out. She just began flipping through
pages when she heard a loud thud at the front gate. Followed by some muffled sounds. She
didn't bother checking as Uncle Vernon had strictly told her not to show her face around.
After a pause of silence, a knock was heard with a thud again. She abandoned her book and
ran to Dursley's room. Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon were sleeping with Dudley
sandwiched between them. She tiptoed around the bed and went to Petunia's side, gently
shaking her to wake her up.
"What is it!" Aunt Petunia whispered to her. Eyes squinting from the sudden light and her
eyebrows pulled in a furrow. Without waiting for Harry's answer, she hurriedly turned to her
side, patting the area where Dudley slept. Upon finding his breathing body, she let out a
breath of relief.
"There's someone knocking on the door." Harry whispered. Petunia looked at her with
confusion and almost dismissed her until she heard the knock for herself. She looked back at
Harry, and gritted her teeth, warning her that it better not be one of her pranks because
there's no way a guest would arrive this late without a prior notice or a message. She walked
over to the door, Harry followed behind her with her little footsteps, trying to hide behind
her without making it obvious.
She looked at Harry once again before opening the gate. Petunia slowly swung the door open
and screamed. There stood a man, the door being too small for his large frame, Petunia was
met with his chest through the opening of the door, his neck and head hiding due to his
height. His rough and curly hair dangling near them. Aunt Petunia fell on her back due to the
shock of it all and Harry was frozen in her place. The man ducked and stepped in, keeping
his back hung low. He had a large umbrella in his hand that dripped water all ove
"Happy birthday, Harriet!" He exclaimed, ignoring Aunt Petunia squirming beneath him. He
took out a box from his coat and handed it to her. "Not everyday a young lady turns eleven is
it?" Harry opened the box to reveal a messy cake with pink frosting and green fonts saying
'Happy birthday harry!' By the time she finished reading, the frosting had melted all over the
place. "Thank you!" She smiled and said. Hagrid nodded back at her. He made himself
comfortable and sat down on the sofa in front of the fireplace. He swung his umbrella and
pointed at the fireplace.
Large balls of fire emerged and hit the log, lighting up the whole fireplace at once. Harry's
eyes widened, she looked at the fire then at the man. The room was immediately warmed up
so it was no illusion.
"Um…who are you?" Harry asked, eyes still widened from horror.
"Rubeus Hagrid, Keeper of keys and grains in hogwarts." He chuckled. "I suppose you know
a little about hogwarts?"
"I am afraid-I do not."
"No? Do you not wonder where your mum and dad learned it all?"
"Learned what?" Hagrid looked at Vernon and Petunia, shaking their heads from
disappointment.
"You're a witch, Harry." If her eyes weren't bulging out before. They definitely were now.
"I am sorry. I think you got the wrong person, I am just-just harry! I am no witch!" She went
on a rant.
"And Ms. Just Harry, have you ever made things happen when you were angry or upset?"
Harry gulped down and offered him a small nod. He smiled in acknowledgment. He stood up
and stared at The dursleys and took something else out of his pocket. This time, it was a
letter. He handed it to her. With hesitation, she began reading.
"Dear Harriet Potter, we are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into
Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry." Students shall be required to…." Before she
could finish reading, Uncle Vernon stomped to her side.
"Stop this nonsense! We took her in and put a stop to all of this! Now you want to take her
back and put her in a place that teaches magic and curses and what not? We won't allow it!"
He spoke, voice rising with every letter he spoke.
"You knew!" Harry yelled. "You knew all of this! You told me my parents died in a car crash,
you lied!"
"A car crash? That is ridiculous, James Potter died in a car crash?" Hagrid dryly chuckled
"How could we not? Someone in our family was born a wizard? How wonderful!" Aunt
Petunia slowly spoke, her words as sharp as daggers. She slowly walked towards Vernon's
side. Her voice, coming out in a low whisper. "I was the only one who could see your family
for what they are! A bunch of freaks! And then you were dumped onto us. Just as strange,
just as abnormal." When everyone was distracted by Aunt Petunia's chatter, Dudley didn't
waste another second grabbing the cake given to Harry and placing it on the sofa to eat it.
"Harry will not be going." Vernon said again.
"And a muggle like you will be able to stop me?" Hagrid challenged him.
"Muggle?" Harry asked.
"Non magic using people." He smiled at her. "Harry will be leaving with me to study in the
best school of witchcraft and wizardry and that will be it." Hagrid's eyes landed on Dudley,
stuffing his mouth with the cake. He pointed his umbrella on his butt and gave him a pair of
tails. The Dursleys screamed in union, Dudley was jumping around and Aunt Petunia tried
grabbing his tail. Harry just watched the scene in amusement and giggled. Hagrid took out
his watch and straightened it.
"I suppose it's a little late to be doing magic, meet me tomorrow in the morning Harriet. I'll
take you there." He smiled at her and ruffled her hair, pocketing his watch with the other
hand. He left the scene, fleeing into the dark stormy night. "Sleep well child, you're gonna
have a long day tomorrow."
Morning arrived, Harry woke up to Aunt Petunia's aggressive knocks, she stretched and got
herself ready and sat on the floor where Petunia slammed her usual sharing of food. Usually
Harry would gobble up whatever was kept in front of her and run back to do her chores but
today she sat down, chewing slowly, sometimes even forgetting to do so.
She washed her plate and kept it on the drying rack.
"Garden." Aunt Petunia's voice came. It startled her enough for the plate to almost slip away
from her hands. Aunt noticed but decided not to say anything. Harry tilted her head and
made a 'huh?' sound. She glared at her and yelled, "Go tend the garden!" Harry bowed at her
and rushed outside. Her hands, still dripping wet from doing the dishes.
She made it outside, the plants she had loved were blooming beautifully into flowers. She
waved at them and smiled. As last night's rain had already taken up the job of watering the
plants, Harry took on cleaning the area. She skipped along the garden while humming to
herself, moving to the storage area to get her tools.
She opened the cupboard door and took out a broom. As she shut the door, she noticed
something unusual from the corner of her eyes. She turned around to see Hagrid waving at
her. He pointed to his pocket , it had already struck 11. She smiled in relief when she saw him
"Ready to go?" He yelled from the other side of the fencing gate. She looked back at the
house once, before abandoning the broom in her hands. She ran to Hagrid, and they left for
Hogwarts.
Harry kept reading the letter while walking beside Hagrid, going over the same thing again
and again.
"It says we have to buy some stuff." She said with her thick British accent.
"And so we will."
"But I haven't got the money!" She squeaked.
"That's why we are going to the bank, the safest place in Hogwarts to protect your things."
Hagrid pointed at the building ahead, it read "Gringotts bank". Upon entering the building,
Harry noticed the grandness of the place, dim lighted room, richly shining in golden, with
odd looking dwarfs walking all over. Their eyes were glossy like marbles and their noses, long
and crooked. Their teeth were nothing but tiny spikes.
"What exactly are these creatures, Hagrid?" Harry whispered.
"Goblins." He said. Eyeing at every goblin in the passing. "As clever as they are, they aren't
the most friendly creatures, stick by my side." Harry squeezed closer to him. They soon
reached the end of the hall where a Goblin was seated on the highest chair of them all.
Hagrid cleared his throat to grab his attention.
"Ms. Harriet Potter here would like to withdraw." The goblin stood up from his seat and
leaned closer to examine Harry.
"And does she have her key?" The goblin said, voice deep and raspy. Hagrid took out a little
key from his pocket and also a letter.
"Dumbledore wanted me to hand this to you." He whispered. The goblin nodded and asked
someone to escort Harry and Hagrid safely to the bank. They took a cart-like thing and slid
across the cave bank. It had multiple rooms with numbers engraved on top. They soon
arrived near Harry's supposed bank.
"Lamp." The goblin demanded from Hagrid. He handed him the lamp kept on the cart and
the goblin used the key Hagrid handed to them earlier. He opened the lock and opened the
gates. Inside the gate, there was a pile of coins, a huge stack of coins. The gold reflected on
their faces. Harry's eyes grew bigger and she couldn't comprehend what she was seeing.
"Your parents were all prepared for you eh?" Hagrid took some coins in his pouch and they
left the bank.
Hagrid took her around the stores and went over the list she needed for hogwarts.
"Are we all done?" Hagrid asked, carrying a pile of boxes in one of his arms.
"Nope, it says we will still need a wand." She told Hagrid, carrying more boxes herself.
"A wand?" Hagrid glanced at her. "Well! How about you wait for me at the wand shop, I've
got something to do." He patted her shoulders and gave them a little squeeze. She nodded at
him and entered the wand shop. The shop looked nothing less than a library, with so many
boxes that could make anyone dizzy.
"Hello?" Her voice echoed. A man emerged from within the room, on a sliding ladder. He
eyed her from top to bottom and smiled.
"Oh potter." The man said. "So good to see you." He descended the ladder and glided across
the room, his robe and silver hair dancing in sync. He took out a box and opened it to reveal
a wooden wand, littered with mesmerising intricate details. "Would this be the one for you?"
He handed it to her. Harry held the wand between her fists silently. "Try swinging it around."
He whispered, hands clasped in excitement. She did as she was told. She swung the wand
around and sent the boxes flying, the drawers falling and pages being torn. She kept the
wand down with a loud thud.
"That's certainly not the one." He said. The other wand he took out ended up breaking
glasses and the third one made pages fly across the room. After a long time of chaos, He
handed her a black coloured wand. She gulped down the saliva building in her mouth. She
released a large breath out of her mouth and sucked her breath in again. She slowly
approached the wand and took it in her little hands.
This one was relatively calmer. It shone golden and made her short hair fly around. Her eyes
widened and then everything calmed down. She took a deep breath again, she felt refreshed.
He smiled back at her and nodded.
"Harry! Harry!" She heard Hagrid's voice calling for her from outside. She turned towards
the gate. "Happy birthday Harriet." He said softly. He was carrying a cage in his hand. Inside
it sat a soft glowing white owl, its wings periwinkle and a mix of white. Its blue eyes were
fixed on Harry.
She hurriedly opened the door and gasped. "For me? Why–"
"Every good witch has an owl. Take her, make her your good friend." He handed the cage to
her. She hugged the cage and the owl made a squeaking sound with her.
"So? What will you name her?" He playfully bumped her.
"Hedwig!" She smiled at him.
The next stop for them was the station. Hagrid handed her a ticket saying that he has to leave
soon, as he is needed by dumbledore. He told her that she has to reach platform 9 ¾ . Harry
looked down at the ticket and frowned her eyebrows in confusion.
"What do you mean?! there is no platform 9 ¾ —" But Hagrid had already disappeared into
thin air by the time.
She walked around with her trolley full of boxes and Hedwig and her cage. Asking around
about the platform only earned her mean stares and questions like 'Are you a lunatic?' or
'Where are your parents?' It was better for her to not ask around. She reached between
platform 9 and 10. A family of gingers stood beside her.
"And you go first!" The mother spoke in a squeaky voice to the twins. One ran inside a wall
and disappeared into thin air. "Don't forget to write back to me next time!" Another ran
behind him and disappeared just like the one before.
"Excuse-Excuse me." Harry stuttered behind the lady. "Do you know how to get to
Hogwarts?"
"Oh! My dear, yes! Yes I do." The lady gracefully bowed at her. She lightly held Harry and
placed her between the walls. "It's my son's first time too!" She pointed at her ginger son who
shrugged back at her. "Just walk through it, do a little run if you feel nervous" Harry nodded
at her and ran through the wall with her eyes closed.
When she opened her eyes, a whole new world was revealed. The platform read 9 ¾ and the
whole area was littered in gold and vintage browns. The ginger boy she met before followed
behind her. "I am Ron, Ronald Weasely." He extended his hands towards her. She took them
and shook them back. Ron and Harry made their way to the train and found an empty
cabinet to sit together. Harry had bought herself and Ron a bunch of candies which they
shared while Ron told her all the crazy stories he remembered from his life. They were joined
by a girl named Hermione Granger who seemed to know a lot about witchcraft and magic.
She reminded them to change into their uniforms as they were approaching Hogwarts.
The rest of the Journey was a blur. The Hogwarts everyone kept mentioning was grand in
itself. The gardens were huge and people in high end robes and outfits were seen around.
Hermione and Ron became great companions to Harry and took on the job of showing her
around. They showed her around the garden, the rooms and the halls. There was a main
banquet where everyone ate and sat together for the meals. Everyone was delighted at the
unknown presence, They kept Harry busy and introduced themselves one by one. Some were
nice and some were a little rude—especially a guy named Draco Malfoy, but She decided to
let things slip by peacefully. Everyone sat together at the main banquet and with everyone,
waited for the sorting ceremony.
There was a talking hat who was placed on everyone's head who divided them into 4 groups.
Seemingly- Slytherin which was green, Hufflepuff being yellow, Ravenclaw being blue and
Gryffindor being red. The colours accurately represented the nature of the groups and the
kind of people that got sorted into it. Gryffindor stood for strength, Ravenclaw for wisdom,
Hufflepuff for companionship and Slytherin for cunning leadership. Thankfully, all three of
them had made it into Gryffindor. The Weasely family, an older brother, two twins and Ron
himself (Who were in Gryffindor as well) had gotten up to congratulate her. So did
Hermione.
They were then shown around and taken to their rooms. Ron and Harry with Hermione had
to go separate ways as the boys and girls had separate dorms, Though they were allowed to
hang out anywhere during the day, the night time strictly prohibited them to enter each
other's dorms. Hermione linked her arms with Harry and walked into the dorm, picking a
bunk bed to sleep together with her. Some members working in Hogwarts had already
informed them about their working classes and timings. Hermione forcefully made Harry
sleep to be extra prepared for tomorrow.
The classes started off easy, The first class being for wand handling, some glasses were
broken, people were sent flying and books were thrown too, but other than that, all was
good! The next was the potion class where she Professor. Snape's stare was enough to keep
her distracted the whole class and the last class was for flying on their brooms, to keep them
stable and move efficiently and swiftly. Of course, it was a disaster. Only a few could manage.
The same subjects were taught for a while with zero to no differences. Harry only got closer
to Hermione and Ron and ended up despising Draco and his gang more and more. Everyday
Harry got better and better and felt more free and refreshed than she ever felt at the
Dursleys. The rest of the months flew by.
Harry had joined the official Gryffindor quidditch team despite Hermione warning her that
they would get a little rough, which explained why only 2 to 3 girls played quidditch while the
rest of the team was full of guys. Despite Hermione and Ron's disapproval, They had been
present to cheer for her at every game and helped her relax during the game breaks. She
couldn't be more grateful.
November ended and the classes slowed down in December. Every professor and student
were relaxing and waiting for the Christmas holidays to fall. Students had a choice to either
stay at Hogwarts and basically do nothing as no classes were assigned and no one really
stayed back or to spend the time with their family— Harriet had nowhere to go.
The 2 week long holiday had started— Hermione stayed for a while before she had to leave
for her home due to her family's demands, Leaving only Ron and Harry. They hung around
the Hogwarts campus or sneaked out to play with magic. One day they both sneaked out to
Hagrid's hut to play with him for a while.
"Hey, kids! How is it going?" Hagrid asked, his face being illuminated by the lantern he held
in one of his hands, the other had a bunch of kids. He invited both of them over and served
them some tea and snacks, talking about his life in this corner and asking them about theirs.
"Harry, come here during christmas, I have a surprise for you." He smiled, sipping at the tea
he kept for himself in a big mug to fit him. She teased him asking if it's gonna be another
frosted cake. He responded with his laughter.
Ron and Harry had fun everyday even though that did not last for long, as Ron too was
dragged away by his brothers and left Hogwarts to spend time with their family. Harry was
left alone.
She took it on her to explore each corner of Hogwarts and burn the pathway in the back of
her mind. She found a new thing each time, like the invisibility cloak and a magic mirror. She
was allowed to keep the cloak as it was said to be her father's but the mirror was moved by
Dumbledore.
As she had promised Hagrid, she sneaked out once again to his hut where he was waiting for
her with a proud smile. It was a day before Christmas, Hagrid was dressed different than
usual, he replaced his earthy brown tones with bright red and greens. Just like last time, he
had a lantern in one of his hands and a key in the other.
The key was emitting a soft white and purple glow. It had green and blue jewels and Harry
was starstruck. He jingled the key in his hands to get her attention back.
"We have some place to be." He gently informed her. Harry hesitated a bit and looked back at
the castle. She took a deep breath and nodded at him, she trusted Hagrid. He took her
through the woods, fidgeting with the key all the way and stood in front of a worn down gate.
It was rusty and trees and creepers had covered more than half of it. Behind the gate was just
more jungle and darkening night. He stopped in front of the gate and sighed. The gate was
taller than Hagrid too.
He took a step back and bowed at Harry, handing her the key without looking back up.
"I think my job here is done. Use that key to open the gate and remember t0 close your eyes
if you don't wanna feel dizzy." His usual tone was replaced by an extra soft one. Harry walked
closer to the gate. She didn't ask anymore questions and shut her eyes tight before she even
got the key inside the lock. She struggled a bit and felt Hagrid's hand correcting her. She
muttered a small thank you and pulled her hands to herself.
"Open your eyes after counting to 10" She could hear Hagrid's voice getting more distant and
slow. She counted to 10, her hands still tightly stuck to her with the key. She whispered out
'0' and opened her eyes. The jungles and the night were replaced by Azure blues and clouds.
Her eyes widened as if they were about to pop out. She turned her head back to where Hagrid
was supposed to be standing. It was empty. The gate that was rusty and covered by plants
was shining golden and standing just as proudly tall. The key in her hand had faded into
golden dust and the gates swung open. The path ahead was covered by fog. Without having
anywhere to go, she took a step forward. The path cleared up with each of her steps. She kept
walking for what felt like ages. Within the fog, she could see a silhouette of a person and
wings? As the silhouette grew closer, her impatience rose too. She flailed her arms around to
move the fog more quickly.
The person standing in front of her was a tall elegant woman. She was tilted slightly towards
her with most of her back on display. She had cedar skin and gorgeous silver ombre hair.
There was a white halo with blue jewels on top of her head and her wings flapped
occasionally. From the back Harry could make out that her eyes were lavender and a white
streak ran down her nose with white freckles. A faint gold light kissed her brown skin as she
floated above the clouds. She, too, heard Harry approaching. The entity snapped her head in
Harry's direction and let out a faint gasp.
"Oh Harriet, my child!" She exclaimed, gliding towards Harry with her arms open. She
embraced Harry with a tight grip and Harry melted in her touch. "You've grown so much."
Her voice hushed in a whisper.
"Who–are you?" Harry said, pulling away from the hug.
"I am your mother, child. Your true mother. She snapped her fingers and a mirror appeared
in front of her. "Look at yourself Harriet, look how similar we are." Harry looked in the
mirror. Her short bob hair was fully grown into long curls and colour a similar hue to her
mother's. Her jeans and top were now a full blown white gown and she had wings similar to
hers. "I am Sera, I am a high seraphim angel in heaven, my daughter." She cried out. Her
eyes were glossy and voice quivering.
"Mother." Harry whispered out. Her voice trailing off in a doubtful question. She always
thought about meeting her parents, what will she ask them if they do meet, will she ask if
they loved her? Will she pull them in a hug? She never imagined they would be meeting like
this. And upon seeing, she could only ask one thing. "Why did you leave me all alone with
them?" She said out loud. Her voice breaking at the edges, It made Sera's heart ache.
"I am sorry." Sera barely managed out. "I thought you would be happier in your father's
world, I thought you would be safer. I didn't want you to end up with trouble, I am sorry."
She pulled her closer and kissed her forehead. Harry cried in her arms and she could feel her
mother crying as well. They both wiped each other's tears and hugged again.
Sera took Harry's hand and smiled at her. She showed her around Heaven and told her all
about her and asked Harry about her life too. She looked at her with sadness in her eyes
whenever Harry would talk about her birthdays or how Dursleys treated her. Occasionally ,
someone would pop up and cry in Harry's presence, calling her the 'True princess of heaven".
Harry just offered an awkward smile back.
As they were seated for some tea and snacks, the ground beneath them rumbled. Harry held
tightly on the white table and looked at Sera with confused eyes. Sera sighed and rolled her
eyes before giving a weak smile back to Harry.
"Seraaaa!" Came a dramatic voice. It was deep and rich. Sera slowly stood up from her chair,
going back to floating off of the ground.
"Morningstar." Sera said slowly, her voice deeper than before. "Welcome back."
"How dare you Sera!" Morningstar playfully said. Unlike Sera who radiated calmness,
Morning star brought chaos. His skin was pale white and his eyes were yellow. His attire was
in a theme of red, white and black and he carried a stick with an apple stuck on it. "My niece
came back after years and no one told me?" He peeked from behind Sera and glided towards
Harry, getting very close to her face, letting out an exaggerated gasp. "Oh darling you're so
pretty! Just like your mother."
"You're interrupting a mother daughter bonding time." Sera sighed out.
"Yes." He said. "Because it's Uncle-niece bonding time now!" He shrugged. He took Harry's
hand and disappeared into thin air. Harry looked around the new place she was put in, if
Heaven was full of whites and clouds, This place was fully red with tall buildings wherever
eyes followed.
"Welcome to hell baby!" Everyone from hell too, kept on greeting Harry and received death
glares from Morningstar. "I am Lucifer Morningstar, Harriet, you can call me either." He put
his hands behind his head. "Don't mind the others." He added. Harry sat down with him in
his castle. Uncle Lucifer chatted a long time about himself and his daughter 'Char-char'.
"Uncle–Do you know how Mother and Dad met?" Harry whispered to Lucifer when he was
ranting about Sera. His face turned into something sour and his eyes darkened.
"I don't! No one does actually." He gave it a deep thought. "Don't ask this to Sera either, she
might not enjoy the question." Harry slowly nodded at him. Time flew by and after being
snatched away by Sera herself and a bunch of other people, It was time for her to return back
to her real world.
"You don't have to feel bad about having nowhere to spend your holidays on. You don't have
to go back to Dursleys my child. Come back to your mother every time you can." She kissed
her forehead again. Sera walked her to the gate and Lucifer playfully glided by her side. They
waved at her till the gate slowly shut and she closed her eyes once again.
"So? How was it?" Hagrid asked. She snapped her eyes open and she was back near the rust
gate, her normal clothes back on, nothing had changed, it was still the night Harry had left.
She turned to him, the key back in her hands. "Oh!" Hagrid exclaimed. "Your friends sure are
gonna admire your look." She tilted her head with her eyebrows furrowed and lips forming a
pout, overwhelmed by it all, she was unable to speak.
Hagrid put up a finger near her face and searched deep into his pockets, he pulled out an old
mirror and handed it to Harry. She pocketed the key given to her and took the mirror in both
her hands. Her hair was long, unlike before. Few strands of her hair had turned into a silver
ombre just like her mothers. She was glowing and her cheeks were rosy and full.
"Now you're back to the potter I know." Hagrid smiled at her. "Keep the key and use it to visit
your mother kid." He patted her head.
She spent the rest of the holidays with her mother, learning everything about her or in the
library, searching for her mother's information and about heaven and hell. Ron and
Hermione had returned 5 days before school for Harry and to give her company. Hermione
had thrown her bags on the ground and rushed to Harry after seeing her new hair, Ron
behind her asking all sorts of questions. She blushed and told them a little about her family.
Schools were opened once again, people rushed back in, the dorms were full again. Harry
and Hermione and Ron made through all of the classes, Harry had become a quidditch ace
and loved by all. Draco Malfoy had warmed up to her as well. Each holiday, she would visit
her mother and their bond had become stronger than ever. Harry never once went back to
ursleys. She felt loved, she felt happy. She had become her 11 year old self, who was allowed
to be loud, to be loved and to love.
"Mother, you know we are graduating. Next month too." She whispered to Sera, who was
sitting behind her, braiding her hair.
" You don't seem happy?"
"I am not sure if I want to stay there for the rest of my life, I don't want to live in England
anymore, it's…it's stuffy." The 18 year old Harriet said. She had grown into an elegant
woman, with long hair and even more silvery strands. Her voice, a mixture of husky and
feminine and delicate. She had taken up everything from her mother but her eyes looked just
like her fathers.
"Then what is it that you want Harry?" She leaned in and kissed her forehead.
"In one of my magic history classes, we studied about this place called Mystic falls…" Her
voice trailed off. Sera's eyes had darkened and the smile in her face had fallen off, yet she
didn't interrupt Harry. "England is too, too restrictive for me. Full of muggles, Full of weird
stares because I take after you. That place is my calling mother, it's full of people like me, like
us!" She exclaims. "I can find a peaceful job there and spend my entire life being me, find
someone to love and–"
"Harry. You know I want the best for you right? You also know that magic had ceased to exist
in those earthen lands. How will you protect yourself if something like that happens again?"
"It happened ages ago and the barrier is already gone, mother, people like me live there. This
is the best for me, mother, please." She took her mothers hands in her and gave them a little
squeeze. "Please." Her voice came out in airy whispers. Sera sighed and blankly looked at
her. She gave it some thought and gave her a nod of approval. Harry jumped and gave her a
tight hug. Sera took her in her embrace and told her to calm down. Harry left her after giving
her a final tight squeeze.
Soon after the graduation, Harry had packed her bags and parted her ways with Ron and
Hermione (Who were now dating, with marriage in mind). They had given her all their
blessings. She spoke to all the professors for the last time, all the students that had grown
with her and had seen her grow, all the creatures too. Hedwig had perched on her shoulder
and snuggled in her nape comfortably.
She had left for her new journey at Mystic falls.
Just as she had imagined, it looked like any town would. Individual apartments, bustling
streets, shops and cosy cafes all around. It was a small town and everyone seemed to be
knowing everyone. From her eyes she could see knowing smiles being exchanged, faces of
little babies being lit up upon finding their favourite uncle or aunty on the streets. Harry too,
had people approach her and compliment her, ask her about herself, offer smiles. This wasn't
like england. It was warm, it felt like home and also full of magic.
Vampire teeths out in the open, little witches playing on their brooms, old ladies using their
magic to clean up dried up leaves from the streets. The whole town was covered in oranges
and brown from fall. She could smell Hot pumpkin spice lattes from miles away, attracting
her towards them.
"Can I get that season special, please?" She smiled. Keeping her brown duffle bag on the
nearest table.
"Cute owl you got there." The barista commented, Her voice, thick with a British accent
similar to Harry's. "What's it called?"
"Her name's Hedwig! I learnt it's a gift from my mother apparently!"
"Witch?" The barista asked, making Harry chuckle.
"You can say." She made herself comfortable on the table near the counter and chatted away
with the barista for what seemed like ages. Their conversation was interrupted by a man with
dark blond shaggy hair and dark blue-green eyes. He looked like he was around his 20s and
had a nice build to his body, leaving Harry stunned for a while. Her mouth hung open, she
was unable to get her words out.
"The spice latte order." He said, his voice low and husky.
"That would be mine." She raised her hand and offered a smile at him.
"What was your mother's name again?" The barista interrupted. Harry thought to herself for
a while, She took the drink from the man's hand in hers and looked at the barista.
"Sera." She smiled. The man halted on his way back to the kitchen, Harry didn't seem to
notice. He stopped and looked back, eyeing her all the way to her toe from head. The silver
ombre in her hair clicked something in his head. He let out a small scoff and tilted his head,
Harry looked at him then. Their eyes met but he dashed inside without a word. Harry
thanked the Barista and left after payment.
She searched up the address and called the broker she had talked to on the phone. The
broker picked her up at the cafe and showed her around the neighbourhood, telling her all
about the places to visit, the shortcuts to her houses and about her neighbours. The house
was pretty spacious, enough for even two people to live comfortably and received a lot of
natural sunlight. She fixed the contract and started unpacking right away.
"If you ever feel unsafe…Please just call me, The number you have will be available
everyday." The broker whispered.
"Unsafe? Why would I feel unsafe?" She stopped fidgeting with her bag and looked at her. A
dark brooding emotion lingering on her face.
"Well, Mr. Mikaelson is your neighbour. I heard he can be pretty aggressive and is cold and
unwelcoming, Not that he's dangerous..but who knows..Family can be a great influence."
"Family?"
"His family was the founder of this place called New Orleans and they have lived there in
their mansion ever since. His father is quite ruthless, I've heard. Mr.Mikaelson too has fair
amount of rumours to himself, he rarely smiles and is cooped up in his room except for the
time he's at his job! A lot of people fear him." The broker took out her phone and scrolled
through her gallery to show him the image.
"Oh this man! I saw him at this cafe nearby." She gasped at the handsome man staring at her
through the screen, he looked prettier in real life, was what ran through her head.
"I believe he's helping them out, Mr. Mikaelson is filthy rich but still works at a cafe to help
his friends out." Harry nodded. He was this sweet and still had a bad reputation? She felt
sorry for him.
The broker left while talking to someone on call. Harry closed the door and this time,
properly looked around the house, taking in each and every frame from inside. She walked
up to the bedroom, the windows were large and covered every wall.
Her breath got stuck in her lungs as she noticed that one of her windows was directly in front
of Mr. Mikaelson's house, A large window like hers, was facing her from his house. It
wouldn't hurt to take a peak, she thought, and scooted closer to the unmade bed frame near
the window.
From the inside, his house looked neat, messy but neat. It was drenched in earthy tones and
pretty decor, she couldn't make out much, but it was obvious that his house was well kept.
She squinted her eyes, trying to get everything, Her eyes darted towards the entrance.
Mr. Mikaelson had been staring this entire time. A smirk plastered over his face. She ducked
and hid herself below the window, her hands covering her burning face. She got caught. A
whimper escaped her mouth and she pinched her eyebrows together. After a few deep
breaths, she got up and without looking back, she dragged herself to the hall and started
unpacking once again.
After settling in the society, making friends with other neighbours, and avoiding Mr.
Mikaelson, like a plague, she decided it was time for her to work. The money her mother and
father left was enough for her to comfortably live her life without having to work another
day, but having nothing to do all day bothered her.
She ended up wandering around the cafe where she had first gone again. It was mostly empty
in the afternoon, with most customers filling it up only in the evening or early morning, this
was a great time to wind down and talk to people.
The same barista was on the counter again, she welcomed her in with a warm smile.
"Need another one of your special drinks?" She said playfully.
"I plan to work here, have a place for an extra member?" Harry replied. The barista squealed
in joy and took her hands in her own.
"Please! It gets so busy in the rush hour, I've been looking for someone! So glad it's you." She
said sweetly. "Klaus can be a real pain with his stubborn self so I am glad you are here to
help." She gave Harry a light hug.
"Klaus?" She asked.
"Oh! The man that served you last, his name is Klaus."
"Mr.Mikaelson?" Harry said, her voice going two pitches higher. At this, the barista left out a
small chuckle, she playfully smacked Harry's arms.
"Yes, him. It's just, it's too formal to hear his name like that, you can call him Klaus, he
doesn't mind." She patted her back.
Klaus, like she told her to call him, was nowhere to be seen. The barista took her in and told
her all about the cafe, the recipes, the ingredient storage and about the rush hour. For all the
orders that kept popping up slowly, the barista slowly helped her through it and gave her
slow and gentle instructions.
"My name's Ivy, by the way." She smiled. "A vampire." She bowed at her. "I am sorry I forgot
to tell you all this."
"Does this mean Mr.Mikael— I mean Klaus is a vampire too?" She tilted her head and
blinked at Ivy. She had heard that vampires were known for their breathtaking beauty, Today
she got confirmation as well.
"Well that– I guess you should ask Klaus himself." Her face went dull and she avoided
Harry's gaze as much as possible. Ignoring the awkward silence that hung over them, with
Ivy's help, Harry learned a new skill and also found a new job, as well as a new friend. The
shift had gone smoothly and it wasn't overwhelming and Ivy was warm and welcoming as
much as possible. At the end of her shift, They had exchanged c0ntacts and also their
addresses.
"Feel free to drop by anytime since you live so close! Harriet" She waved at her and left for
her house.
Harry looked at the box she had received from Ivy. 'It has desserts, celebrate your first day.'
She had said. Harry opened the locked gate using her key, as her eyes landed upon the house
beside her. The lights were still on and a golden light was emitted from his eyes. She looked
at the box again, it had two pastries and It was more than enough for Harriet to eat by
herself.
She closed the door back and pocketed the key, she hummed and strided along the path and
waited outside his gate. At that moment, it seemed like a bad idea. She bit her tongue and
knocked on the door slowly. The door swung open, revealing Klaus, who looked like he was
freshly out of the shower.
He leaned over the door, hovering over Harry's small frame, his deep blue-green eyes staring
intensely at her, occasionally checking her out from head to toe. His hair was wet and
covered his face. Heat rose to Harry's cheeks, she found herself speechless.
"A- I got these from Ivy." She pushed the box forward. "I am gonna be working at the cafe
with you guys from now on and you're my neighbour." She went on with a super fast speed.
He chuckled and took the box in his hands.
"I believe she gave you two, I won't be able to finish them all by myself, come on in." Her
cheeks flushed crimson, she took a deep breath in and entered his house. From the inside, it
looked much prettier than what she could see from the window. "So? Like the view you were
watching so badly that day?" He smirked.
"I! I am sorry, I didn't know houses were this close and I was just—"
"It's alright, I don't mind." He placed the box down on the table and opened it, revealing two
chocolate pastries. He took one in his hand and gave Harry one on a plate.
"Thank you, Klaus." She said, her voice sounding a little tired from the edges. She called his
name with such familiarity, it made his heart skip a beat.
"I suppose Ivy told you my name." He cleared his throat. "And I don't have yours? What kind
of fairness is that?" He said with a playful tone.
"Harriet, Harriet potter, or Harry." She said without facing him. They ate their cakes in
silence, Harry eating a little too impatiently, eager to leave his house. She had many
questions for him, 'Why do you have such a reputation even though you seem so sweet?'
'Why did you skip work today?' 'What do you usually do?' 'How are you so pretty?'
Her eyes widened as the last thought entered her head. She almost choked on the cake. She
gulped it down and started coughing, Klaus held her firmly and offered a glass of water. She
slightly flinched and avoided his gaze.
"Thank you for today. See you at work tomorrow." Harry blurted out and stormed out of his
house. She fidgeted with the lock till it somehow clicked open and slammed the door upon
entering. Her knees gave out and she plopped down on the floor. Her hands covering her face
and messing up her hair. She was done for.
Harry had never fussed about her looks, even though throughout her school she had heard
things about how she is naturally pretty and with little maintenance, she would look like an
angel herself. She was never interested in relationships until…today. She woke up two hours
early and sat in front of the mirror, fixing her multiple times and applying subtle makeup to
make her look better. She tried various styles and finally settled on one. Two braids merging
into a low pony and subtle cherry blossom makeup. She looked at herself and smiled.
As she was leaving the house, she met Klaus, who was leaving at the same time. He gradually
caught up to her and walked beside her without saying a word.
"You look nice." He whispered. She bowed at him and whispered a thank you back. The
streets were empty and none of them knew why they were whispering like that, but they
played along till they reached the cafe. Ivy greeted them both and hugged Harry telling her
how pretty she looked and scolded Klaus for skipping work yesterday. Klaus huffed and
Harry giggled. Even though they've barely known each other for a few days, it already felt like
they were close.
Work went on smoothly, Ivy was at the counter and Harry and Klaus worked in the kitchen,
chatting away about the things that didn't matter, working together to make the orders, their
whole day was filled with laughter and joy. They walked home together after bidding goodbye
to Ivy. Continuing their silly conversation from before.
It had become a routine for her now, waking up early and getting herself ready, walking to
work with Klaus, working and sitting with Ivy and Klaus for a break then going back to her
shift, walking home with them and leaving Ivy a block behind, then walking with Klaus
again, talking about wherever they previously stopped. She made sure to occasionally
practise her magic with and without the wand (As the daughter of High Seraphim Angel,
Harry could perform wandless magic just as well) She spent time with Hedwig and rested,
doing this all over again the next day.
It had been 20 days since she shifted. She and Klaus would occasionally hang out at his
house, watching shows together or eating goods they got back from the cafe. Not only did he
look good, but he as a person was very gentle and had her heart. Even though, at first he
disregarded all her attempts to be closer, He eventually ended up giving in to her charms and
played along with whatever she had to say. At first she tried denying it, thinking about how
Klaus may have different thoughts about her, but the subtle blush of his cheeks, the way he
seemed all hot and bothered around her, gave her hope.
Just like everyday, she woke up early, fed Hedwig and got ready. She stood near her door and
hummed a sweet melody, bobbing her head to the rhythm of it. She waited for 10 minutes,
but Klaus was nowhere to be seen. She looked at the time to check whether she got the time
wrong, but it wasn't. They usually met at this time. She looked around and checked around
the streets, maybe she was late? Maybe he had already left.
It brought a dull ache to her heart, she looked at his house once, and went on her way.
"Hey!" Ivy greeted her. She frowned and craned her neck to see behind her. "Klaus isn't here
with you today?"
"No, I thought he already left, I was waiting too."
"That's strange. He's never late and usually informs before taking a leave." She rested her
head on the broom she was holding, eyes fixed on the wall beside her. They landed up on the
calendar and suddenly she jolted up.
"Hey, when's the next full moon?" She asked in a hurry.
"It's supposed to be today…" Harry's voice trailed off.
"Shit." Ivy muttered under her breath. She ran behind the counter and grabbed her phone,
the vibrations of it reached all the way to Harriet, the receiver didn't pick up his phone. "He
switched it off." She muttered again. Before she could do anything, the customers kept
popping in one by one and she had no choice but to stay back and attend them.
For some reason, the usual afternoon breaks they would get also disappeared. The cafe was
filled to the brim today. By the time their shift ended, Ivy was restless as ever. She kept
looking over at her phone and after the last customer left, she prepared herself to dash out of
the cafe. Though she looked around and there was a lot of cleaning to do which she couldn't
just hand over to a newbie who doesn't know where half of the things are kept.
"Harriet, can you please check on Klaus? I have to take care of all this." She sighed out. "And
be careful…if he's too aggressive, leave." Her voice was firm and low.
Harry packed all her stuff and shoved them inside her bag. She didn't know what happened
but she dashed over to Klaus's house. She threw the bag near her entrance and ran to his,
knocking several times on his door. No one answered the door.
"Klaus, open the door please." She yelled over the gate.
"Leave me alone." He yelled back. Harry flinched at the growl in his voice. He didn't sound
like his usual self. She wanted to barge in and take care of him but he stubbornly refused her
every single time. She gulped down and looked at the lock. She sighed, she had no choice.
Harry took out the wand tucked away in her jeans and opened the lock with it.
"I am sorry." She whispered.
The rooms were dull, only one of the lights was on in his whole house, the hallway was
littered with decorative pieces and clothes, and something that seemed to be..blood. She took
a sharp breath in and rushed to the source of light.
Klaus was sitting in a corner under the dim light, he was hugging his knees and looked pale
and in pain. His face was searing red and he kept panting. His head was tucked in his knees.
Upon hearing Harry's footsteps approach, he looked up and without thinking, threw the
nearest vase kept beside him.
"How did you enter—" He heaved. "Leave." The vase shattered near her foot, shards of them
striking a cut near her ankle, she winced in pain. Her body quivering a little. She ignored all
that and rushed towards him.
"What's wrong?" She asked him.
"The–The moon." He said. For the first time he directly looked at Harry who was sitting
beside him. His irises bloodshot red and his fangs were on display.
"You're a vampire?"
"Not only that." His eyes kept glitching between gold yellow and red, his skin between fur
and his own skin. "A vampire and a werewolf." Harry gasped. She knew this was the time for
her to back away, she knew if she stayed any longer, it could harm her for a lifetime. Klaus
was dangerous. Yet, her heartbeat only grew faster. He didn't look scary, he seemed like a
little kid who had been abandoned. Harry's heart grew with a familiar ache, she could see her
11 year old self residing in him. Even though she knew it was dangerous, her feet only seemed
to move closer.
"Does it hurt?" Harry asked him in a low voice, she took out her wand once again, just in
case.
"You can drop it, It's just us. I know you don't need a wand to perform magic." He groaned.
"How do you—"
"I knew since the moment you mentioned your mother, That's how I am." His head rests over
the wall with a loud thud, streaks of blood leaking from his lips. He chuckles. "I am a beast,
Harriet, like everyone warns you."
"You don't scare me." She says with tears in her eyes and chest heaving with rage, she
believed him over every rumour. "I like you in every way and form you possess." She scoots
closer to him, their faces just inches apart. Klaus breathes out one last "leave" but Harry
keeps pushing herself closer. He gives in and leans into the kiss, gently working on the
rhythm, savouring the taste of our tongue bit by bit. Harry slowly pulls back and looks up at
him.
She said, " Show me all the forms you have and I'll love you twice as much, even the parts
you can't like." She holds him tight till the full moon night passes, taking his agony away with
it.
The morning arises and Klaus taps Harry's shoulder gently. He didn't look sickly pale
anymore, his cheeks got their colour back and he didn't look like he was in pain anymore,
just extremely exhausted. Harry, who had slept all night on his shoulder, looked up to him
and flashed her brightest smile.
They moved in silence, Klaus washed himself up while Harry arranged the room that looked
like it had been freshly robbed. She followed to take a shower after Klaus, who made sure the
breakfast was ready and perfectly lined up on the table until she came back. They joined each
other on the table. At first the heavy silence took over, both too busy with their food,
attacking it after starving through yesterday's events.
The first one to break the silence was Klaus himself, he told her all about the rumours, his
army, how he had to ruthlessly kill every single one of them after they turned out to be
nothing but sickly monsters. About his father who had beaten him till he was half dead over a
knife that wasn't even his fault, about his siblings who despised him and about the life he had
led on.
"You just wanted love, Klaus." She calmly replied. "I know how that feels too." She smiled.
Tears started welling up his eyes, she wiped them down and hummed. Talking about how
Dursely's had treated her, how she met her actual mother, how strange it was for her to find
out that her world was flipped upside down, about her friends, about how she slowly started
believing in life again. "And I will make sure you feel loved the same way I did when I met the
people who cherished me for who I was."
Klaus leaned in and took her hand in his own, giving a light peck over her knuckles. Even
though he struggled with hearing the words or getting them out, he expressed his affections
in other ways, and in her heart, she always knew.
"Let's introduce you to my mother." She smiled at him.
They left for London the very next day. Klaus had held her hand throughout the ride and
kissed her hands as many times he could to reassure her and himself. Harry took deep
breaths and led him to the jungle where the gate was located. Just like Hagrid had told her,
she told him to close his eyes and held his hands tightly, opening the gate to her home.
Her mother waited for her at the Heaven's gate just like she always did, letting out a small
chuckle when she found another silhouette with her.
"You've grown so much, my daughter." She bowed down to greet Niklaus and Niklaus, too
overwhelmed after seeing the angel in flesh, followed along.
They sat down for a chat and Harry told her all about her life in Mystical falls, about Ivy and
Klaus, about the cafe they run. Sera attentively listened to her rambles, with a fond smile
dancing on her lips.
"I am so glad I let you go there." The conversation went on for what felt like ages, Morning
star brought himself and his people and Sera's people had joined to congratulate them both.
Klaus looked at Harry and flashed his prettiest smile on display, he was happy.
They thanked everyone and returned back to London.
"That was me, and my family." Harry rested her head on his shoulders. "I wanna see yours
too." She whined a little. Klaus halted in his steps and a groan escaped his lips.
"You know how they are, Harriet." He gently took her hands in his and gave them a little
squeeze. "I don't want them to harm you in any way, I really don't." She leaned in his chest
next and pulled him closer.
"They won't. You don't have to worry about me Klaus. I just wanna get to know your family
too." He gave her a soft nod and kissed her hands again. They went back to their place and
started packing right away, While Klaus told her about his family and Harry stole quick
kisses from him, reassuring him about her safety.
They talked to Ivy and told her all about what happened, she jumped on Harry's arms and
congratulated and playfully hit Klaus's chest for not telling her about their relationship
sooner. That day, she treated them both to the most expensive coffee and pastry that was
available on their cafe menu, teasing Klaus about how much he had grown, and Klaus
reminding her that he's way older than he looks.
The very next morning, Klaus and Harry had left for New Orleans, where the Mikaelson
family resided. They stood in front of the train and looked back once again, taking up every
memory of Mystic falls with them. Ivy stood in front, bidding them farewell, she had tears in
her eyes yet she kept smiling. Harry and Klaus looked at her and then at each other and
playfully leaned in for a kiss.
They left behind all the unpleasant memories where they belonged, and left for a new place,
for a new journey, with each other in their arms. And a family full of love that you couldn't
see anything beyond that.
