What a fucking maze.

It'll definitely take me about a month to be able to walk around this castle.

"Are we there yet?" I sound like Donkey.

Hope giggled softly, "Just one more set of stairs then to the left."

"Since when are you in this hell?" Emerald growled annoyed.

"Since I was 9 years old, like everybody else aside from ghouls."

She frowned, "Ghouls? The hell is that?"

"It's how we call the students brought in late by the 18-19 year olds. One can choose to bring theirs when they are 18 in year 10 or 18 in year 11. I brought my ghoul last year when I was 18, because I knew the top students of the houses would all do it at 19, because it gives them time to find even better kids, the better they are, the more points they get. I got 4th place," she winked at Emerald, "Simon got 1st, Killian got 2nd, and the blacks got 3rd thanks to Evelyn Davenport. I brought in a 10-year-old kid, Kristine Wang, I met her four years ago, and I knew I was going to bring her in. She's the only other person in the school who talks to me like this, and she's well, my assistant," she winked. "A lovely kid. Green-black, stronger green magic."

"She's 11 now, right? In year 3?"

"Yes, yes. She's born in a Flower Moon," May 16th, "she was an orphan, whose parents studied with my dad back in Qiao Qingsheng. She went from orphanage to orphanage until my dad met her again, when he was in China, and brought her in, she's been living with us since. So, me and dad have been teaching her green magic ever since, and she has me as an older sister. And though kids mess with her for being close to me, she's strong and handles all of them well."

"Cute," I am an only child, but I always wanted to be an older sister of a little boy or girl. "When is your birthday, Hope?"

"February 16th," she said.

"Snow Moon," Emerald purred and she nodded. "Older than me."

"By a lil bit," she giggled. "You're from April 1st, right?"

"April 16th," I don't want to lie to a friend, and she would know I'm lying as part-Gold. I don't want that. "But don't tell anybody."

"You lied about that?"

"I didn't," she grinned, "Dior did."

"So you're actually from the highest of a Pink Moon."

A nod, "But don't tell anyone. Let them believe what Dior said."

She narrowed her eyes charmingly, "You're mysterious."

"Is that bad?" Emerald tilted her head.

"Not at all, it's attractive," Hope giggled softly. "Makes you cool."

I don't think she would call me cool if she knew the truth, or what I actually am. "Are we there yet?" She asked instead, making Hope laugh.

"You sound like Donkey from Shrek," the girl chuckled.

"I do, don't I?" Emerald allowed herself to laugh too.

"You should smile more, it's mesmerizing, Em!"

She's not flirting with me, right? "Are you flirting?"

Hope blushed, "Have been for a while."

Her words made Em's skin redden, "I'm not used to it."

"Flirting? I can help with that," she winked.

"So, you are also disliked by the Circle?"

"Disliked is an understatement, but I don't like them either," she snapped bitterly and Emerald couldn't help wondering what happened in between them. "I'll get into that in a later moment. Now," they turned into another hallway that opened to a majestically gothic and titanic tall archway that gave into a enormous dinning room with more than a dozen tables, and a load of people, which made Emerald instantly anxious, "welcome to our humble dinning room!"

"Humble? I see that you're also good with the sarcasm," she said, swallowing. "Where's this Ana girl? Let me deal with that already."

"In the very center, it's where Simon's people seat," she whispered. "Can I stay behind while you deal with them? I don't want to deal with them at all, and I'm not strong enough to go against them like that, which is why we keep out bitter distance from one another."

"Sure," she nodded and released her arm from Hope.

"I stay some meters behind you," she whispered as they walked in and all the eyes in room went directly to Emerald, to the golden blood in her clothes and hands, and many of them began whispering shamelessly.

"Center right?" Her eyes scanned the entire room until it paused on the heart of the room, where a round obsidian table was, and sitting there was Simon, Florence, and another bunch of kids, all in different uniforms. Ignoring them, she focused on the blonde girl with a fully black uniform, with the crest of House Raven and 11 stars in her chest. "Found you."

But before she could get to them, when she was half-way there, the redhead jumped in front of her, "Emerald," she gasped, "what do you think you're doing? That's the Circle I told you about," she hissed. "And what is this," she stared at her clothes, "is this… golden blood?" She gasped so loud everyone must have heard.

Lifting her right leg swiftly, she unsheathed her poisonous dagger still tainted in golden and showed to her, "What do you think?"

"What the fuck? What… did you kill someone?"

"No, Saoirse, I didn't. But if you don't get out of my way right in this second, I will kill you. I won't just put a curse on you or make you sick, I will stab you with killing intent, and knowing I'm the only one who can save you from the poison in my daggers, I will watch you die and will do nothing!" She hissed, and she made sure everyone would hear.

Saoirse flinched, "I… what did I…"

"Out of my way, Saoirse Victoria Geadasach!" Emerald hissed, and both her familiars hissed with her. "I'll deal with you later, now fuck off. I know exactly what you told me about the Circle, and I am not after another fight tonight, but if it happens, I will fight, because that's all I know how to do. I'm not a fucking coward who uses others to hide from conflict."

Her blue eyes went behind Emerald and she hissed, "You!"

Before she could do anything, Emerald grabbed her left biceps in a hard grip, and she gasped, glaring at her in dismay, "Touch a string of hair in Hope Albuquerque Zhang, and you will have to deal with me!" Then she turned her head everyone around them, "This goes to everyone." And back to Saoirse, "I don't know what beef you have with Hope, and I don't give a fuck, but I won't let you mess with her. And if you try bullying her behind my back, I will know!"

"You don't know her, Emerald," Saoirse gasped. "She's a viper. She's a mixed blood. She's half golden, and,"

"And what am I?" She scoffed and Saoirse froze. "Do you need me to refresh your memory of who my mother was," she hissed lower, in her ear, making her flinch, then backed up a step. "What? Are you racist over mixed bloods now too? Was all that a lie too?"

Saoirse swallowed, "I didn't mean about you, Em, I,"

"Emerald!" She corrected. "You lost the right to call me that some time ago, haven't I been clear to you? Will I have to tattoo it on your damn forehead or something?" Clenching her jaw and fists, she took a step back, "Out of my way, Saoirse, before I lose my shit on you again."

"I'll go, but you wanna know one thing? Zhang is not trustworthy."

Emerald laughed out loud in the most sarcastically vicious manner possible, and when her laugh dried, the redhead flinched, "Coming from you that is quite rich, don't you think?"

Sigh, "You should listen to me, Emerald, I,"

"I'll only listen to Jade and Peridot. They always told me not to be near you, I didn't listen, now look at where that got me. They like Hope. You are the last person I'll listen to in here, that train is gone for you."

"Fine, Emerald," she hissed, "but don't regret later," then she left.

Through her peripheral vision, she saw he going to a table full of greens, and she also saw when she scowled and rolled her eyes, and got back to being a cheerful girl talking with her real friends. Focusing on what she was there to do, Emerald strode towards Simon's table, her eyes firmly set in the blonde Ana, dagger still in her right hand. And as she paused there, she felt all eyes on here, even Saoirse and her real friends.

All tensely or curiously watching to see what she would do next.

Sighing, she relaxed her body, "Are you Ana?" She asked the girl.

Her jaw dropped, because the last thing she imagined was that she would be the one Emerald would approach, "Ana?"

"Are you not? Hope told me the girl named Ana was a black witch, and that she was always around the nepo-babies of the Circle kids," well, I already said once either way. "If it's not you, could you tell where she is, please?" Her hot pink eyes widened at the sound of the last word that came out of Emerald's lips with easy.

"What do you want with Ana?" The ginger she took to be Davian, snapped, suspiciously.

"Why is there golden blood in your clothes?" He hissed.

Emerald remained still, attention on the blonde girl, ignoring all the others, and after swallowing, she frowned softly, "It's me, yes. That's how that girl calls me, even though I tell her not to. What do you want with me, Emerald?"

Shit. "Wait, are you Briana Mantzari?"

She arched her eyebrows, "Yes?"

She couldn't help scowling, "What won't I do for sorority," she growled under her breath, pointing the dagger to the girl harmlessly. "Does that black bulky guy, with buzzed black hair, light pink eyes, around 2.03m tall, from the Lion House happens to be your boyfriend?"

Eyes widening further, she stared from Emerald's dagger tainted in golden blood, and up to her face, "Jeff?"

"Yes, Jeffrey Lee-Bowen!" Emerald hissed.

"Yes, he's my boyfriend. W-why? What the hell did you do?"

She tilted her head, "You should break up with him."
