At this moment, in the test field, Tashigi, who had recently become a Captain of the Navy, held a sword in both hands with a very serious expression. Although she had just been promoted to the rank of Captain, her strength hadn't undergone a qualitative change. But now, she possessed something more—an unyielding determination!
During the war, she had been unconscious, only to awaken as the battle was drawing to a close. She witnessed Shiro, who had been her idol all along, defect from the Navy, taking many others with him. The betrayal had left the Navy in disgrace, and yet her admiration for him hadn't wavered.
Now, her sole desire was to grow stronger as quickly as possible, confront Shiro, defeat him, and ask him why he left. Though naive, this obsession fueled her resolve. For this reason, she trained tirelessly, determined to achieve her goals.
Without informing Vice Admiral Smoker, she even interrupted this training exercise.
"This female Navy… forget it. Let test me!" Shiro said, looking at Tashigi's fighting spirit with a somewhat helpless expression.
He wasn't afraid of being recognized. His god-level disguise made it nearly impossible for anyone to discern his true identity unless he deliberately revealed some flaws. Even if he were to use his thunder abilities, others would just assume there was another Thunder Fruit user at sea.
The main reason Shiro didn't want to fight Tashigi was that he didn't want to disrupt her current mindset. It was clear she had entered a stage of rapid growth after experiencing some kind of catalyst. Shiro didn't want to hinder her progress. Besides, he was more interested in meeting Smoker to see if he could impart some new perspectives on the Navy's infamous "problem child."
"Are you underestimating me? You're just a kid, even younger than me. I don't know why you have the gall to participate in the Admiral selection, but when I defeat you, you'll understand just how vast the world truly is,"
Tashigi declared, clearly dissatisfied. She brandished her sword again, signaling Shiro to hurry up.
Tashigi was eager to face a strong opponent, but this boy with an ordinary sword was young and seemed unremarkable. After all, not every young person could be as terrifying as Shiro.
With a sigh, Shiro finally unsheathed the seemingly ordinary sword at his waist. This was none other than Destiny! However, thanks to his disguise, Destiny, along with Raiu and one other, remained undetectable in their true form. If the swords were revealed, his identity would be compromised.
(He received these sword after the war, Raiu is the sword of Shiryu)
"You look familiar when you draw your sword. I hope you're a strong swordsman. I'm eager to face the powerful!" Tashigi's eyes burned with determination.
In response, Shiro set up a three-sword stance, reminiscent of the style used by the Straw Hat's green-haired swordsman. The moment he made the move, Tashigi was taken aback.
"A three-sword style? You're a Three-Sword Swordsman?!"
"There aren't many strong swordsmen who use three swords."
Shiro smiled, motioning for Tashigi to begin. He closed his eyes, and countless three-sword techniques flowed through his mind, including high-level moves rewarded to him by the system and those he mastered through his own understanding of swordsmanship.
"Be careful!"
Tashigi launched a powerful slash, and Shiro instantly responded with Three Swords Style! The slashes collided, with Shiro's attack completely overwhelming Tashigi's, cutting through and continuing its trajectory. Tashigi's confident strike was shattered, and she was left defenseless.
Just when it seemed like she couldn't dodge, Shiro subtly altered his slash's direction, sparing Tashigi and destroying a nearby wall instead. Relieved and grateful, Tashigi turned back to apologize.
"I'm sorry, I was wrong before. You're truly a strong swordsman, and you're still so young. Even if you can't become an Admiral, you can definitely become a Vice Admiral!"
Tashigi's tone was sincere. She knew Shiro's skill far surpassed her own, even if she couldn't fully grasp his abilities. While becoming an Admiral might be a stretch, Shiro had the talent to rise to the rank of Vice Admiral, provided he mastered both Haki forms.
"Have I passed the test?" Shiro asked, not wanting to drag the conversation further.
Tashigi hesitated. "Well… the real examiner is Smoker. I'm just assisting…"
At that moment, Smoker, recently promoted to Vice Admiral of the Navy's G-5 Branch, arrived on the scene.
"Tashigi, I knew you'd mess things up. Move aside, this is no place for you."
Smoker glared at Shiro. "Kid, who are you? You better not be another one of Shiro's tricks."
