章節 5: First Boss Battle
"Aaaahhh!"
A lightly armored knight wielding a sword charges at me, letting out a deep roar.
The knight's greatest weapon is the high-speed sword strikes that come from their agile body.
Their swordsmanship is sharp, to the point where even adventurers in the single-digit levels would have a hard time evading it.
But...
"Too slow."
I calmly evade all of their attacks with simple steps.
The knight is surprised, unable to understand why their attacks are easily dodged.
"Gaaahhh!"
Undeterred, the knight continues to attack me.
I focus on evading their attacks and building up their frustration.
After repeating this back and forth about five times, the knight suddenly stops moving.
Then, they raise their sword high in a different stance.
(Here it comes.)
I tighten my focus, and the knight and their sword are enveloped in a pale blue light.
That light is the precursor to activating a skill.
And the only skill the knight possesses is "Sword Boost."
By consuming MP, it temporarily increases their sword speed for a few seconds.
"Gaaaahhhh!"
The knight charges at me with a powerful step, letting out a roar.
I smile, knowing that I've been waiting for them to use it.
This was all part of my plan.
After using "Sword Boost," the knight becomes slightly vulnerable due to a brief moment of stiffness.
I planned to take advantage of that vulnerability and deal damage.
(But first, I have to find a way to survive this attack.)
The speed and power of their attack is incomparable to before.
Dodging is impossible, and with the current stat difference, I can't withstand it either.
"In that case..."
I hold up my sword as if I'm intercepting the knight's sword, then skillfully redirect their blade with just the right amount of force.
"Wha!?"
The knight is astonished as I effortlessly parry their attacks, strike after strike.
"No matter how many times you try, it's the same."
I successfully endure their attacks without a scratch.
And the moment the fourth strike ends, the pale blue light finally dissipates, and the knight's movements abruptly stop.
"This is it!"
I aim for the gap in their armor and land a hit on the knight with my swing.
"Aaaahhhh!"
My victory cry echoes throughout the boss room.
As the stiffness wears off, the knight quickly turns around and attempts to counterattack in anger.
But they are too slow.
By the time they turn around, I have already launched my second strike.
My blade directly hits the knight's right elbow, cutting off their arm.
"Wha!?"
The one-armed knight glares at me with anger-filled eyes.
I simply brush it off with a light smile.
"Using that skill was a mistake. With the stat difference from the beginning, it would have been more troublesome if you had relied on speed alone."
Well, they probably used the skill because their previous approach didn't work.
Either way, there was never a chance for them to win against me from the start.
"No matter how fast you are, don't think you can do anything with just one arm."
"Ugh!"
The one-armed knight desperately swings their sword with their left hand.
However, their power and speed are drastically inferior to before.
I block their attack head-on and firmly grip my short sword.
"It ends here!"
With all my strength, I land a hit on the knight, cleaving their body in two.
The knight lets out a scream that reverberates throughout the boss room, then slowly collapses to the ground.
In this way, I achieve a flawless victory in my first boss battle.
"Experience gained. Level increased by 3."
"You have acquired 6 stat points."
