(Third Person POV)
Khal Daegon lunged at Rhaegon, swinging his arakh down hard at him. Rhaegon blocked the blade and kicked him in the chest, reeling him back. He then followed up with a vicious shoulder tackle that further stumbled him.
Daegon then stopped himself and jumped up, swinging the blade down as Rhaegon parried it, pivoting to the left and countered with a spinning slash at the stomach. Daegon blocked the blade and tilted his blade, causing Rhaegon's to slide down the curve of the Arakh.
He then twisted it, pushing Rhaegon's sword downwards as he immediately swung his arakh at Rhaegon's neck. Rhaegon ducked down and backed away in a swift manner, dodging Daegon's follow up by stepping further back.
As he stepped back, he bumped into a Dothraki who was finishing off a Martell soldier. The Dothraki turned around and swung his blade at Rhaegon, who ducked and countered with his own slash, the valyrian steel cutting open his entire body.
As the Dothraki collapsed to the ground, Rhaegon blocked Daegon's blade; he had launched himself at Rhaegon for an aggressive swing.
"He is my Prey!!!!" Daegon bellowed in Dothraki, "Anyone who dares take him, will be cut down!!!!"
The warning was heard throughout the battlefield, a massive area was made for the two of them to fight in as the rest of the Dothraki and Dornishmen were still fighting. The Martell soldiers had received a major blow to their morale when they saw Oberyn's lifeless and headless corpse but the sound of Morghul's roaring and the sight of Rhaegon fighting the khal was able to give them confidence in the fight.
Rhaegon pushed Daegon back by kicking him on the chin and tackling him yet again. As Daegon stumbled, Rhaegon thrust his sword quickly as Daegon dodged it and as he pulled it back, Rhaegon blocked a quick swing from Daegon. Rhaegon then proceeded to swing his sword in a vicious manner as Daegon blocked it and sidestepped, countering with his own. The sight of these two engaging in a serious duel was enough to make some dothraki and dornishmen stop and merely watch.
Daegon spat on the ground as he twirled his blade in his hand, "You're not bad." He said in a thick Dothraki accent, "Rhaegon Baratheon. I can see why my Father lost against you. His Bloodriders mentioned he was fatigued by already killing those who had challenged him."
Rhaegon gave him a serious stare, "Your Father, Khal Drogo, challenged me to a duel." He said, "I killed him in a fair fight. I do not need excuses."
"It is not an excuse." Daegon said, "It is fact."
Daegon lunged at him yet again, swinging his blade diagonally only for Rhaegon to parry the blade and rush past him. As he was behind Daegon, Rhaegon kicked him in the back, pushing him forward. As he straightened up, Rhaegon caught a glimpse of the dragon's flame mark on Daegon's shoulder.
"So it's true...." He said, "That's Rhaegar's mark.....No....I must not falter....he is the enemy.....I need to fight him and win!"
Daegon turned around, swinging his arakh at Rhaegon who parried it yet again. However, Daegon rushed into Rhaegon and swung it again, causing him to step back to avoid it. As Rhaegon was caught off-guard, and forced in the defensive, Daegon swung his blade multiple times, getting parried by Rhaegon who maintained his composure.
Rhaegon then pivoted to the right and quickly rushed in, going for a sword thrust. Daegon spun around to avoid it, getting to Rhaegon's left and swinging his blade upwards diagonally to the left. Rhaegon merely leaned forward to feel the pressure of the blade swinging inches from the back of his head.
He then sidestepped as Daegon swung his blade yet again, parrying it with Fury as he maintained his guard.
Daegon kept the pressure up, and despite being wounded, he was able to keep Rhaegon on the defensive for a couple of seconds, trying to find a quick opening to capitalize and give him a serious wound. But Rhaegon was no ordinary swordsman, he was someone who was taught by the best of the best; Ser Arthur Dayne and Barristan Selmy. Despite not being on their level, Rhaegon was one of the best fighters in The Realm, making any other warrior look like a joke.
And here is where this started.
As Daegon swung his arakh, Rhaegon quickly deflected it, moving to the side so swiftly that it looked like he never took a step, merely appearing there. He swung his sword at Daegon, who was barely able to dodge it, the tip of Fury cleaving slightly through his midsection and dealing a small cut.
The Khal swung at him multiple times, all of the swings easily dodged by Rhaegon who casually moved to the side, his footwork was so precise and calm that people assumed he had been possessed in that moment. All while holding Fury close to him, in a stance that would allow him to block or swing at a moment's notice.
Rhaegon stepped forward as Daegon swung his sword, deflecting his blade quickly and spinning clockwise for a slash. Daegon stepped back but much like his midsection, he was grazed yet again in the chest. Rhaegon swung his sword at Daegon who was able to deflect it, but the power of his swings caused him to stumble and as he tried to counter, his blades were quickly parried by Rhaegon who marched forward, swinging and parrying in such a manner those that watched thought the was some sort of inhumane demon.
There was a dead serious look in Rhaegon's eyes, his breath was being held as he focused solely on taking Daegon down.
Daegon tripped on the severed limb of a dothraki, stumbling back as Rhaegon was about to swing at him.
Rhaegon stopped himself as Daegon panted, multiple cuts on his body and bleeding.
"Why did you stop?" Daegon asked as his hand was hung down, his eyes glaring at Rhaegon
"It won't be clean." Rhaegon said
"Clean?" Daegon said, "Fuck Clean!"
"I'm a Knight above all." Rhaegon said as he assumed a stance, "Come."
Daegon spat on the ground, "I will kill you. You killed my Father, made my Mother cry." He said with pure anger, "I care not of what happens to this land. So long as I kill you, rape those who you care about, I don't care what happens at all!!!"
"Such a shame...." Rhaegon said
Daegon lunged at Rhaegon and swung his blade at him only for it to be parried easily. Rhaegon then hit Daegon with the same riposte he had hit Khal Drogo with; a sword thrust in the chest. Fury pierced the Khal through his chest, blood dripping down the tip.
Rhaegon let out an exhale as Daegon dropped his weapon on the sand, the Khal's hand clutching the side of Rhaegon's head, trying his best to grip it tightly but the strength slowly fading.
"Y-You....!!!" Daegon said with pure hatred in his eyes, "You...!!!!!!"
Rhaegon looked at him with nothing but sorrow in his eyes, "The gods will know what I am....should it be true, Aegon....." He said softly, "But.....it had to be done....for the sake of this realm.....you had to...I'm sorry...."
Blood came out of Daegon's mouth, "I-It is not over...." He managed, "I am no fool...we.....are not meant to make it past this wretched place.....that thing....he used me....."
"I know," Rhaegon said
"V-Valerion.....Vaemon...Syras...." Daegon said as his body went limp, Rhaegon lowering himself to his knees, "Vaelor...B-Blackfyre...they are my Mother's.....siblings..."
Rhaegon pulled Fury out of his chest and set Daegon down.
"Yea....?" Rhaegon said
Daegon looked up at him, "This is my curse to you, Rhaegon...." He said softly, "You are.....a K-Kinslayer...."
Rhaegon sighed, "I know." He said, "It's funny that a Dothraki Khal is telling me about this...."
Deep down, he knew that Oberyn's words were true, that Daegon was indeed Aegon Targaryen, the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. But in this situation, not a lot of people would come to accept that fact. It did not matter what the technicalities were, Daegon was the enemy; he was the rider of the Black Dragon that attacked Dorne. Daegon was the Great Khal, leader of the riders who raided and pillaged many towns in Dorne.
Daegon needed to die for Dorne to be satisfied. Rhaegon knew that.
Yet, it pained him.
He knew of what happened to Elia Martell, someone who his mother held in high regard. Someone he was sure his Uncle loved.
And he killed her son.
Daegon's eyes were still looking up at Rhaegon, full of hatred and rage, "I hate you...." He said before his head tilted to the side, the light leaving his eyes
"Rest now, cousin." Rhaegon said as he straightened up, "I am sorry for this. If only things were not the way they were. Perhaps you and I would have been friends...."
"Brothers, even."
