"I heard that the miners in the lower district usually wear this coarse cloth... To conceal your identity, I'm afraid you'll have to wear this for a while." Bronya said to Ron as she adjusted her hair, undoing her elegant triple curls and parting her silver hair down the middle. The triple-turbo Bronya successfully downgraded to a double-turbo Bronya. She looked much softer, and Ron thought she appeared more mature.
Who would have thought Bronya knew how to disguise herself? It seems that the AI in simulations can't compare to the real person outside the simulation... Ron silently grumbled to himself as he adjusted the clothes he had just changed into.
If it were the Bronya in the simulation, she would have already rushed into the lower district by now. The hostility of the lower district? The simulated Bronya wouldn't care about such things, and she probably wouldn't even bother changing out of her military uniform. Ron felt a small sense of trust in Bronya... The real Bronya was indeed reliable!
As they walked towards the Belobog metro station, Ron saw Bronya skillfully navigating through the shadows of the city, eventually finding a hidden path. "According to the map, this is the place." Bronya led Ron through a long alley, passing through narrow rock tunnels until they emerged into an open space.
The underground city revealed its full view to Ron and Bronya for the first time as they stepped into the lower district's Panyan Town. The scenery here was entirely different from the upper district of Belobog. The difference wasn't in the environment but in the lives of the citizens.
While upper district residents needed to buy soda for 5200 credits, the prices in the lower district had already reached astronomical figures that even the upper district couldn't compare to. In the backward and dangerous mines, the resource-scarce lower district was being drained to sustain the upper district citizens. This poor and old underground city was filled with countless sorrows.
Bronya and Ron walked skillfully through the streets of Panyan Town. Thanks to their coarse cloth outfits, they attracted attention but not hostility. The gazes they received were filled with admiration and envy for their outstanding looks. If their identities as upper district Silvermane Guards were discovered, those looks would not be so friendly.
The upper district owed the lower district too much... If they rushed to attack Ron and Bronya, it would be a normal reaction. They moved freely through Panyan Town and eventually arrived at a brightly lit building, where a bitter medicinal smell wafted out as they approached.
"Sampo introduced me to the largest faction in the lower district, the Underground Fire." Bronya explained to Ron as she pushed open the clinic door. "To find the answers I need in the lower district, contacting the Underground Fire is a must. The leader is named Oleg, but according to Sampo, he's just a figurehead, and the real leader is someone else..."
Bronya looked at the cautious doctor inside, who had just closed her medical book and had medicine bottles hanging from her body. "Isn't that right, 'Underground Fire Leader' Natasha?"
"How did you know about that? What's your purpose?" Natasha's hand moved towards the grenade launcher behind her, fingers touching the trigger, her voice cold.
"I am Bronya Rand, the next Great Guardian of Belobog... I came to the lower district for the future of both districts."
Bronya smiled gently, her tone friendly. "We are all citizens of Belobog; there shouldn't be any barriers between us." Natasha hesitated, then relaxed her grip on the grenade launcher. After Bronya's explanation, she finally let down her guard and invited Bronya and Ron to sit at a nearby table. "I didn't expect anyone from the upper district to care about us..."
She served them two cups of hot water and said with a sigh, "If you want to see the lower district, I can help. Actually, I'd love to accompany upper district folks like you around... But the clinic is busy, people get injured every day or fall ill from things they shouldn't have touched... As a doctor, I have to do my job."
"However, I can arrange..." Natasha hadn't finished speaking when there was a loud bang, and the clinic door was kicked open. A mountain of boxes walked in, and from one side of the boxes, a head popped out impatiently. "Alcohol, bandages, emergency medicine... and some scattered documents. Where should I put these?"
Upon hearing the voice, Bronya felt a rush of nostalgia, as if she had returned to the time when she collaborated with Seele as the Great Guardian in the last simulation. She instinctively replied, "Put them over there. Sort the supplies into categories, so it's easier for the subordinates to handle later. Unprocessed documents go on the other side; we can review them later..."
Seele was about to follow her instructions when she suddenly stopped, her face showing a fleeting expression of shock. She quickly masked her emotions and looked at Bronya with feigned confusion. "Who are you? Why should I listen to you?"
Indeed, why should she listen to me? Bronya was momentarily speechless. The memories of her time as the Great Guardian had left a lasting impact, influencing her habits in the minutest details of her life. In the last simulation, Seele was one of her most reliable subordinates, her attributes undoubtedly superior to the mediocre blue and white cards, so Bronya had become accustomed to directing her.
The atmosphere in the clinic grew tense. Natasha, sensing the awkwardness between the two, quickly intervened to smooth things over. "Seele, just place those things by the door." She helped Seele put down the piled-up supplies and led her to Bronya and Ron. "These two are guests from the upper district. For the sake of our mutual understanding, could you act as their guide and show them around the lower district?"
