"I have to take the medicine to my sister; she needs it today or she will die!" growled the boy, who had been caught in the battle that erupted.
The boy's name was Finian, and he was only six years old. His adoptive parents had died just a month ago due to a severe accident at their workplace, leaving Finian to take care of his stepsister Aria. However, his little sister had fallen ill shortly after their parents' deaths.
They had no money to buy medicine, only enough for food that would last less than a week. That's why Finian started doing small jobs for merchants who took pity on him. After struggling for several days to buy his sister's medicine, he found himself in the midst of cruel men trying to assassinate the third prince.
The only thing Finian could think of was to run for refuge, but he was spotted by one of the assassins patrolling the area. These men had no heart, so they tried to kill him as soon as they saw him. Miraculously escaping the first attack, Finian kept running.
"I'm coming, sister!"
However, due to the rain, mud had formed on the streets, and Finian, feeling his body grow heavier, succumbed to the numbness. Not knowing what was happening to him, he simply grabbed the bag with the medicines and held it tightly in his mouth as he crawled through the mud.
"Aria, my little sister..." The fierce eyes of the young Finian slowly lost their light, but his body kept moving forward.
At that moment, under the rain that had completely soaked his body, he felt an intense cold current that instinctively awakened him. This source of cold was strangely comforting, as if it were a beautiful shield protecting him.
When Finian turned around, he saw a tall figure glowing blue, standing calmly under the attack of the two men dressed in black. However, when he thought they were about to be killed, the opposite happened—ice spears shot up from the ground, suspending the assassins in the air.
"He's incredibly powerful..."
"Hey kid, what are you doing out here, and why are you fighting so hard?"
Finian, hearing this question, remembered why he was out there and said, "My little sister needs medicine; she's waiting for me, so I have to help her."
As he tried to stand, Finian's weak legs couldn't bear his weight, and he fell into the mud again. He got up with all his might and murmured, "My sister needs this medicine."
"What's your name?" Haldor asked while keeping his attention on his surroundings.
"I'm Finian, and my sister's name is Aria." Finian began to cough up dark-colored blood, indicating that the poison had spread through his body.
"Stupid kid, don't move while I try to save your life." Haldor, not caring if his clothes got dirty in the mud, knelt down and held the head of the boy who was dying from the poison of the sword that had cut his eye.
Ignoring the black-clad figures flying through the sky, he used water magic to heal Finian slowly.
"Die!"
"You all talk too much in a battle." When Haldor turned and the assassins saw his eyes, they felt their souls being crushed by a great hammer and suddenly spat blood.
After that, as if it wasn't enough, the ice swords suspended in the air fell like meteors onto the bodies of the men in black who had jumped towards him.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The sound of the swords hitting the ground caused the earth to explode into debris, and the bodies of the assassins were split in half. Amid the rain, the spilled blood spread across the ground, with pieces of the unknown men visible everywhere.
Haldor stood up and saw this disaster with a cold expression on his face. Then he looked at the assassins, who had long since died in their chains, and snapped his fingers. Seconds later, all the swords that had been cleaned by the rain disappeared from the ground, including those of his enemies.
"Take me to your sister. If she shows even a hint of bravery like you, then you will both be accepted under my care." Haldor's eyes turned to Finian, who was traumatized by seeing all those corpses on the ground. But remembering his most important priority, Finian stood up and ran forward.
"Don't stop and keep running; I'm right behind you!" Haldor's voice reached Finian's ears.
"Yes, sir!" Finian shouted between breaths.
That's when Haldor's perception noticed several figures at the end of the street, and he frowned. "These scum multiply."
Seeing the assassins heading his way, Haldor looked at them from afar and conjured an ice spear in his hand. The two assassins running towards him stopped when they sensed the danger emanating from their surroundings.
"If you don't come, then I'll go to you." Haldor thought with an excited smile and hurled the spear at the nearest target.
Boom!
Blood splattered, slightly obscuring the view of the assassin beside him, and Haldor took advantage of that, sliding at great speed.
"Where!"
"Right behind you!" Haldor murmured, and when the assassin turned around, two immature hands gripped his throat like iron clamps, and then blood spurted like a fountain.
"You…" The assassin only felt a warm current pour over his chest, and shortly after, his eyes were overtaken by darkness.
"At least it's raining; the blood will wash off my body." Haldor looked into the distance where the boy named Finian kept running, and after hearing the sounds of the battle, he left that place.
